Tencent Premieres Amnesiac Love and Political Intrigue Period C-drama Serendipity with Wang Zi Qi and Lu Yu Xiao
This isn’t quite a sudden airdrop but does feel out of left field that Tencent decided to go more low key to end April by premiering period C-drama Serendipity (榜上佳婿 Bang Shang Jia Shu or Top Scholar Ideal Husband) today instead of another more high profile pick. I’m stoked this is here personally, love both leads and with low expectations and not one of those huge budget big hype projects this has a chance to be a pleasant surprise. The drama stars Wang Zi Yi as a top scholar and Lu Yu Xiao as an amnesiac rich lady as he pretends to be her brother and they have to try and not fall in love and then fail miserably at that. He might have some part in her whole family getting wiped out as well, so there’s that additional layer of future angst. Joining them as second leads are perennial second leads Wang Hong Yi and Gong Xue Er, but heck if something works why mess with it. Hopefully this is a good watch and perfect to kick off this weekend.

I LOL at the label of “perennial second lead” since I just got off a website talking about perennial gardens LOL again.
This is what has been happening to Cdrama lately. When the leading couple are interesting, the plots failed them, e.g., Perfect Match. While the stories appear intriguing, the acting or the visuals weren’t up to par, e.g., the Glory (not my beloved K Glory LOL).
I hope this drama doesn’t fall into the first case since I like both leads.
I havent finished the novel. I guess, i wont finish it and prefer watching the drama lol. Just finished The Demon Hunter’s Romance.. I’m craving for a happy ending. Hopefully this one brings the real happy ending.

Despite the BE/OE (depends on how you look at it), I still find TDHR a great watch. I’m rewatching it now to admire the way it tells its stories.
