Zhao Jin Mai and Wei Da Xun Kick Off Filming for Youku Modern C-drama Irreplaceable
Well these two look unexpectedly good together on camera, nice! Filming has commenced for modern work and romance C-drama Irreplaceable with Zhao Jin Mai and Wei Da Xun, with her top billed and him reportedly getting a special billing that is above second billed. It’s hilarious how C-productions have to get creative to deal with the billing jostling between leads. Her last drama was such a dud despite a reunion with Zhang Ling He because neither convincingly sold the high school to grown up romance arc and the narrative was choppy, but reportedly the script for Irreplaceable is great and this has been one of the more sought after recent dramas among the actress crowd. It’s great seeing Zhao Jin Mai play her age and Wei Da Xun could be primed for another leveling up if this becomes a hit.

Another dud incoming. Neither one of them is lead material, able to carry a drama.
I think they look great, and I have high hope for script quality from this scriptwriter . And I wish success for both of them.
Ordinarily, I like to think that I don’t care all that much about actresses’ looks in dramas (way more invested in handsome, to me, males) but, I find this actress’s looks/demeanour distracting. Have only half watched some of her works – Love Reset, thought she was great/perfectly suited, gave up on that billiard drama, just wasn’t interesting, not her fault, am currently midway through the Princess Royal, am enjoying it, will finish. For me, she doesn’t fit this period drama, she feels too modern. Looks/feels like Princess Kate, a very modern royal. Have got used to it/her look now so it works but initially found it/her jarring.
I feel a bit bad about dissing her in this way as I think she’s a good actress and will definitely give this a go, despite watching far more period/fantasy than modern but as it’s modern so, so long as the story is interesting, script is decent, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it.
Work dramas can be hit and miss depending on where the main focus carries. Like they can be so boring at times and tend to stray away from the main leads story that I find myself fast forwarding a lot. Hope it works out for them though. Her last drama was so trifling with the how simp she was for the main leads story that and how obnoxiously wishy washy the male lead was with the female lead. Not to mention the main leads parents toxic behavior. Like if I were her after high school I would have moved on with my life. It was so cringe and annoying how it all played out. I actually feel she suits high school but not mature roles due to her baby faced look. The main lead Zlh not so much cause he is very mature looking and looks like he cosplayed lol. She still looks like a freshman in college so it would be interesting to see if she can pull it off a mature vibe.
