So the casting wheel was quiet for a few weeks due to China being on a long national holiday break but now everyone’s back to business it’s time to look at what’s brewing ahead. The first casting news is a reunion if it comes true – production of modern C-drama Liu Su Di (流俗地) is courting Liu Si Si and William Chan for the leads. The two worked together in the 2017 xianxia C-drama Lost Love in Times where both had the most awful costuming in hair and outfits ever in it. Liu Su Di is adapted from the same name award winning novel by Malaysian writer Li Zi Su is is set in the Ipoh and chronicles the life of the blind young woman and her best friend as they try to survive and thrive in harsh conditions. William Chan’s most recent modern C-drama Love’s Ambition is a hit and a big win for him so going another modern role may be up his ally, and this drama has award fare fodder written over it which aligns with Liu Shi Shi wanting to take on more challenging roles other period fare.
