C-actress Zhao Lu Si’s Agency Conflict May Be Over with Rumor that She’s Signed with Orca Entertainment Under the Alibaba Umbrella
This may be a case of moving the right hand to the left hand but we shall see. C-ent this week started off with the rumor that C-actress Zhao Lu Si has resolved her conflict with existing agency Galaxy Kuyu Entertainment and has signed on with Orca Entertainment. Orca (or 虎鲸 Hu Jing) is the largest entertainment group under the Alibaba conglomerate umbrella, so it’s a big agency. Alibaba has invested in Galaxy Kuyu as well so in essence if this is true she’s just moving from a smaller agency that she’s not happy with to a larger agency but still under the same parent ownership. The rumor has spread due to the headquarters of Alibaba’s entertainment group including of agency Orca Entertainment was seen displaying huge LED promos of various Zhao Lu Si dramas over the weekend. As of now, no announcement or confirmation yet but if it’s true then best wishes on a fresh start for Zhao Lu Si.
Alibaba invested in many companies, but not all are parent ownerships. I don’t think Alibaba has a controlling stake in both companies.
Honestly, Zhao Lusi’s career feels like a wheel, full of ups and downs. I really thought her peak was Love Like The Galaxy, but then Hidden Love came out and made her even more popular. It got a huge international following, and even K-viewers started to notice her.
Then last year, things got tough for her. She fell sick and had some contract issues with her agency. A lot of people thought she’d hit rock bottom and might not be able to continue acting. She even deleted her Weibo account, and to be honest, even I thought that she truly has no room to make a comeback.
But this month, her new drama suddenly got released out of nowhere. No press, not even the casts knew, and it ended up becoming one of the biggest hits of the year so far. Now there are rumors that she’s signed with a bigger agency. If that’s true, that’s a really great comeback for her and her fans.
