iQiyi Confirms October 25th Premiere of Sword and Beloved with Cheng Yi and Li Yi Tong the Third Chapter of the Fox Spirit Matchmaker Series
I thought this wouldn’t arrive until November and there would be a lull in the October swarm of C-dramas but we’re getting one more before month end. iQiyi has announced the release of Sword and Beloved this Friday on October 25th, heralding the end of what was once a highly anticipated three part Fox Spirit Matchmaker series based on the same name IP. Chapter 1 Red Moon Pact was the biggest disappointment nearly universally panned while second chapter Love in Pavilion dialed down the expectations was by all accounts was just okay. Sword and Beloved will star Cheng Yi as the son of the two leads in Love in Pavilion and tells his life and love story with Li Yi Tong as the female lead. This drama is coming a bit too close on the heels of his last xianxia drama The Legend of Journey released last month in September in terms of Cheng Yi double dose and the fact that his costume and hair here (even the black hair and white look dual looks) mirror that drama. I am mildly curious to see if this last chapter is better or worse than its predecessors.

I feel like the Fox Spirit Matchmaker Spirit series is cursed. I can only hope that this installment meets the lowered expectations.

Why? He has been continuously attacking other artists. Bundling. Just a few days ago caught using massive water armies.
So why exactly should someone like that be wished good things? Ah because you approve of such disgusting behavior.

Why the rush? I guess platforms enjoy the fan wars. The clash with the Luo Yunxi fandom will be harsh, not to mention Gong Jun.
Every drama these days has either Cheng Yi or Liu Yu Ning or Cheng Lei ….
Well I guess it’s good for their fans….and I hope they are not overworking these stars…..
First installment was an absolute disaster…Love in Pavilion kinda redeemed the franchise imo. I mostly enjoyed it during its airing. Hope the finale will wrap up the series nicely. I trust Cheng Yi and Li Yi Tong on that front.
For the record I heard these stories will all have some tragedy. So if most hate that then it just might not be for them. I heard that this installment is the offspring of the second installment. So most are tuned in to see how it pans out. Like more curious than anything. I don’t think many think it will be so great due to the previous lack luster projects. I’m curious for the actress cause I like her more than Cheng yi. I only liked Cheng yi in love and redemption. Mystery case lotus book was alright but the ending was such a bummer.
Super excited!! Donghua fan of the series. LIP was way better than the first. If they would have aired the second installment first it would have been a better experience for the series. But Wang Quan is my favorite arc and they picked the perfect artists to play the characters! love for CYY and LYT! Hope for success.
