It’s basically a done deal with Zhao Lu Si has successfully terminated her agency contract with Galaxy Kuyu and signed with Orca Entertainment under the Alibaba umbrella. Word is that the official announcement is waiting for November 9th which is her upcoming birthday, and may come with the news of her next drama. The drama reportedly will be the big budget Youku period romance Inverted Fate (攻玉 Gong Yu or Attack Jade) and she will top billed. The male lead in talks is Tian Xu Ning who is a relative fresh(er) face and had his big break this past summer with the BL hit drama Revenged Love. The terms of Zhao Lu Si’s contract with Orca is 5 years and the agency has paid her termination fee with Galaxy Kuyu, buts some will be taking it out of her future earnings and also compensated with her doing more projects with up-and-coming stars the agency wants to push. Let’s see if this fresh start for her career gives her the boost she needs to get fully get back into acting.

Thanks @koala
Wow, remember when everyone was coming for Zhao Lusi’s neck online? So many people were convinced she was totally finished for speaking out against her agency. They were predicting a full-on ban, brands dropping her, nasty lawsuits, and her career being completely over.
But looking at how things can go for celebrities in China, maybe it was actually a smart move for her to publicly highlight her issues. Who knows what might have happened otherwise? I never understood why she was treated like a criminal—is it really a crime to break free from what sounds like a terrible contract?
And look at her now! A major agency signed her, her brands stayed, there was no big lawsuit, and she’s already got new roles lined up. Good for her.
It’s not a crime to try to break free from another agency if she did it properly by paying termination fees or getting another agency to buy over her current contract (which is what rumors are saying now). Her initial actions appeared as if she wanted to terminate her contract without paying fees and she kicked up a huge fuss about it, which is why many people couldn’t agree with her actions. No one would have said anything if she quietly got her contract transferred to another agency like what the rumors are saying now in the first place. In any case, I still wish the best for her health and hope the rumored new agency treats her better.
Are you for real? Her agency mistreated her in a variety of way to the point it led to her health being affected. She was hospitalized as a result.
If she’s mistreated by her agency then she should sue them, her previous agency is a very small one without big connections.
@gem
yes you are right.
1) Zhao Lusi must have tried reasoning with them many times behind closed doors, which didn’t result in ending the contract but only ended up being abused, mistreated, overworked, locked in a room and subjected to exorcism.
They are not her parents, they have no right to engage in controlling, brainwashing or exorcising her. It’s the agency’s fortune not be sued by her.
2) Having an agency contract with a rising star like her is a gold mine, would the agency willing to let her go for a small fee?
They claim to ask for an exorbitant fee but in reality they still wanna keep her as a slave.
And she has no choice but to seek public support so she can negotiate for better terms. This is why many stars and directors speak up for her!
If she had been lying or kick up a fake fuss, why no stars condemn her? And not even her agency can deny it strongly.
This kind of horrible treatment had happened before in Korea. And most of them committed suicide. Glad ZLS chose a brave route but it’s sad people want her to kowtow to her previous bullies/agency. By exposing her agency, she also prevents other gullible newer stars from being abused like her.
After Yu Menglong’s infamous death, I believe what ZLS said about C-ent crazy witches performing exorcism on her. It was unimaginable to me at first when she disclosed those insidious acts committed by her agency. But now, given the unresolved evilness in YML’s case that C-ent higher up connected with CCP has been trying so desperately to cover up, it is all believable what her agency had tried to abuse her on all fronts.
Smart moves for ZLS to publicize what happened behind the door. Go girl go!
I see the anti-China conspiracists are at it again. The way they connect every bad thing done by companies and individuals to CCP really reminds me of how XZ antis kept claiming he takes responsibility for all of his fans’ actions during 2020 LOL.
And to @Rei. “Must have tried” is just your assumption, celebrity contracts often state that the contract termination fees will scale according to the celebrity’s popularity and worth, since she’s popular, she should pay up the corresponding amount. If she thinks the amount is really unfair, then she should go to court. It just appears to me that she doesn’t want to keep to the contract which she had willingly signed and pay up the corresponding termination fees. Why would other celebrities condemn her and get themselves tangled into the mess when they don’t benefit from it? The so-called many stars and directors are just a few nugu ones too, her fans even made up a rumor claiming Wu Lei supported her when he didn’t.
Hi @somebody,
I completely agree with you. The passing of Yu Meng Long is truly unbelievable and heartbreaking. It’s a profound loss to lose such a kind and gentle soul in the entertainment industry.
His absence from the screen in recent years, especially after his memorable role in The Eternal Love, was telling. It strongly suggests he was suppressed. Even while quietly resolving things with his agency, he hardly appeared in any new productions, which is really unfair to him.
In contrast, Zhao Lu Si’s decision to publicly disclose her agency’s mistreatment is a smart move. Bullies rely on silence and fear. When victims try to please them, the abuse often only worsens. This is precisely why those who speak up are so feared—they expose the truth the bullies want to hide.
When I first heard about the exorcism allegations, I was skeptical that an agency could be capable of something so extreme. However, the lack of any strong or repeated denials from the agency itself is telling, and it makes me feel deeply for Zhao Lusi.
Let’s be clear: confining someone and subjecting them to unauthorized “rituals” is not only absurd, it is fundamentally illegal.
Given that the agency has been accused of this, the question isn’t why Zhao Lusi is speaking up, but why anyone would defend the agency’s actions.
Remaining silent only enables such abuses to continue. If no one speaks out, these practices could very well be repeated against other artists. We should be supporting those who have the courage to expose this misconduct, not questioning or condemning them.
Desperate CCP lackey defended dirty businesses under the egregious regime again, as expected. LOL. This is what only CCP sleeper (both metaphorically and literally LOL) cells would do online.
Hi @somebody,
Thank you for your insight. I firmly believe in freedom of expression and that victims should never be silenced. Any form of public governance and social structure should allow for justice to take place and voices to be heard.
However, I’m perplexed by the some netizens’ vehement defense of the agency and the obsessive justification of what can only be described as an exploitative contract.
The animosity towards Zhao Lusi is particularly confusing. When an artist is hospitalized from sheer exhaustion, that fact becomes a matter of public record. Why shouldn’t she be free to air her grievances? Victims should not be forced to suppress their own voices.
Furthermore, if the agency was truly competent, such an overworking schedule would never have occurred. Their lack of response in the face of her specific claims speaks volumes—it suggests they have no evidence to refute her.
Frankly, Zhao Lusi not suing them has given the agency a way out. She has initiated a fair public debate, which they seem unable to respond or win on merit. Instead of finding fault with her, we should commend her courage.
😂 I guess there’s no point talking logic to conspiracists and people who’ve never worked with contracts before LOL.
@#1 CCP Stooge, you talked as if nobody other than you knew how normal business worked. LOL.
I agreed with you @somebody, I studied law in university and I do draft contracts at workplace, though not professionally. Btw, I read somewhere that Yu Meng Long also faced extreme difficulties with his contract, the fine prints are akin to auto renewal… something like that.
It’s truly shocking to see the lack of empathy in this case, with many condemning Zhao Lusi while defending the agency’s exploitative actions. Let’s be clear: if the agency was truly in the right, they had the option to sue her for defamation, which they have not done.
The narrative that a young woman is “bullying” a corporation is absurd. She is the one who was overworked, locked up, body-shamed, subjected to exorcisms, and hospitalized, all while having no say in her own career. This isn’t a balanced fight—it’s about a demanding entity with numerous shareholders and staff against one individual.
As their most profitable artist, the agency had no incentive to let her go. Going public was likely her only recourse to force them to ease her brutal schedule and ultimately release her from her contract. It was a strategic move for self-preservation, not an act of aggression.
Well, what you two are saying now clearly shows that you don’t know how contracts work 😂
Corporation, my foot, it’s a small agency. And ZLS should sue the agency for mistreatment if she’s indeed mistreated by them as per her words.
I guess this is good but it also means she will be paired with God knows who. Hopefully they can act along her.
Loved Tian in Revenge Love, so hoping this will have a happy ending so I can watch it.
Same. he was charismatic in RL. first BL i’ve watched and it had me hooked.
I do hope he would be up to par with Lusi and that the script would be good.
Her marketing value is undeniable. I thought she does not want to sign with any agency? But a big company like Alibaba is different. Under their umbrella , she should be in much better care and have better work balance.
As long she is happy with this contract, and sign willingly, I am happy for her.
I don’t think she has a choice. She likely doesn’t have the funds to terminate her contract with current agency, therefore need another agency with $$$ to terminate it for her. Hence, a percentage of her future earnings with thr new agency will be subtracted to cover some of it.
I hope this agency will manage her well.
Both Orca and Galaxy Cool are Alibaba companies.
換湯不換藥。 The ultimate big boss is the same LOL. 🤨😥😪 Perhaps she may be able to get a better manager from the new agency.
But who is this new actor? What is his connection? He is lucky to partner Lusi.
He’s very popular though domestic and internationally from bl drama, his active fans even surpassed Xiao zhan.
Hopefully she won’t be overworked again and affect her mental health.
Lmao he can’t act to save his life. If this is her future, good luck girl
!!! I’m so happy for her. She’s so talented and went through so much this past year. Good for her to be able to make a comeback
It is like she is jumping into another fire pit. The agency is just going to put her into idol dramas and pair up with their own unknown actors. This is what happened to yang zi before she established own her studio.
That is true… Yang Zi have moved on to other projects that are her choosing. Let’s hope this company will manage her well.
I think it’s the same approach as Bai Lu, Xu Kai, and Wu Jinyan must be doing for Huanyu. Bringing many new talents to each drama,1 + 10 gratis. This means that she will have no power over her script choices. Hell, it’s even worse..
I have no opinion about her new contract. Glad she had another breakout hit after all the controversial publicity. But is this the new trend for C actors to have smoky eye makeup? LOL. From Dylan Wang down to Ao Ruipeng and now this new guy from nowhere! I prefer ML’s makeup toned down a bit more. What’s wrong with C makeup artists?
That makeup is just awful for me… Maybe one day we may watch tone down white faced and unnatural colours…
C-ent makeup pros may have special favor for bruised panda eyes. lol
Didnt she deny it before? Something like ‘nonsense’?
But well, good for her. Her luck is huge. She probably gambled with Love’s Ambition, if it failed, she wont get this opportunities. But she’s survived.
She and Zuer really were lucky
Unfortunately, sometimes—most times—this is what trauma does to a person—it renders you still, frozen, stuck. She likely traded one bad deal for another (yikes), especially if she’s trapped doing dumb idol dramas with noobs and/or untalented actors for the foreseeable future, but in her trauma response, even that was better than staying somewhere that hurt her. They had the money to pay out, and she took it in desperation. Sheeeesh. Let’s hope, for her sake (and ours), that one of these future projects she’s in has a solid story and a surprisingly good actor to act alongside her.
On one hand I hate that these men are going to get famous off her but on the other hand I’m just glad she’s free from her preivous agency.
I’m glad she can escape her previous agency, and I hope she feels safe with Orca. I do wonder if she will have enough money left at the end of the 5 years to establish her own studio.
FAME, POWER and MONEY.. World offer.. I Pray she will be Smart enough whatever decision she into. Her previous agency maltreated her, is the sister Company, of this orca/alibaba, 5 years Contract is long. She’s very talented a Full package artist.
