Period C-drama Jiang Shan Wei Ping with Wu Jin Yan and Chen Zhe Yuan Reportedly Halts Filming Due to Unpaid Salary Issues with Production Staff
So this has happened before with drama filming productions whether K-dramas or C-dramas but it’s always hard all around since the whole dish is like half baked by that point and there is already a sunk cost. The period C-drama Jiang Shan Wei Ping (江山为聘) with Wu Jin Yan and Chen Zhe Yuan is nearly done filming and this week there is news from the set that production has halted. It’s reportedly due to unpaid wages for the staff and I’m guessing money has dried up from investors or cost overruns being the key reason(s). Here’s hoping this is resolved soon, especially for Chen Zhe Yuan who is not done filming whereas Wu Jin Yan has reportedly finished filming all her scenes.

Oh…with these 2 stars, there is still not enough investments? That is not good news. I hope all will be dealt with soon.
Because they aren’t popular enough. This is also why Chen Zheyuan gets scorned at whenever he tries to fight for first billing with a more established actress.
Those fights does his image branding no good… silly.
Yet you go to MDL and he has almost double “flowers” than really top traffic actors like Xiao Zhan or Zhao Lusi… I wonder how that is possible!
He has some crazy fans on Twitter/X who says that he’s a poor “virgin baby boy” who has to kiss a married actress like Wu Jinyan. I wouldn’t be surprised if these delusional fans spend all their life savings on those flowers thinking its going to help his career.
@Nena
Easily. On xz page people regularly ask others not to buy them. It’s a waste.
@Nena MDL is popular internationally it’s not really a good measure for inside China
Since Wu Jin Yan is the female lead, then this also means she is not established enough to get sponsors.
Yet lots of dramas are piling up with her as the female lead….
China’s economy isn’t good. Q3 GDP growth continued to slow down to only 4.8% and from the previous quarter’s 5.2% growth and the weakest pace in a year. Tariff did hurt China and the foreign investors continue to flee the market.
Too bad! I was looking forward to this drama.
I thought with Fated Hearts, Chen Zheyuan would gain at least some popularity but I guess not.
He’s an actor who is “okay” in my books. Like he is ok in acting, ok in line delivery; but I wouldn’t watch a drama for him alone.
I know they’re not like A-list tier actors or traffic actors, but if even they, together, can’t bring enough money to get a drama made and completed….I can see why cdramas continue to showcase the same few actors.
And I wonder about the people who are managing the finances. Shouldn’t there have been some buffer built in for possible cost overruns? I hope the staff get paid soon.
