Modern Romance C-drama Falling Spring Night with Wu Jin Yan and Wang Xing Yue Likely to Kick Off Filming in Q1 2026 — 21 Comments

    • He is a good actor for his age and experience. He has a few good dramas but I dont think he is X factors Xu Kai and Bai Lu has…
I dont think Yu Zheng did not manage his career well, he had a few very good roles but ultimately, it is down to himself. Only if his own marketing value goes up, will investors increase and he can be a bigger star.
But I am still happy to watch him getting lead roles thru Yu Zheng, China is really not short of handsome and good actors, after watching afew popular vertical dramas, I have noticed. Yu Zheng has been good to Wang Xin Yue already. The rest is up to him.

      • What X factors do you have in mind? Bai Lu and Xu Kai have them? I’m curious to know what X factors these two have. LOL

      • High liulang… I dont enjoy Xu Kai’s acting and Bai Lu need a break. But both of them have liulang. Xu Kai gets aways with so much ‘scandals’. He clearly has money to clean and built his image and brand.

      • My personal opinion Bai Lu is stale as an actress and Xu Kai is just there. WXY still got a long way to go and must work harder to make it but I will take him over a Xu Kai or Bai Lu any day anytime. They are just influencers who happens to act.

      • I mean to be able to catch attention in “Scent of time” (a low budget drama which became a hit with zero promotion nor traffic star) or in “Kunning Palace” while playing a supporting role with extremely limited screentime and a butchered character, demands a certain X factor or at least charm.

    • What? I beg to differ. On the contrary I think he has a loot of x factor other than being a really good actor. It is one of the reasons he catches attention even in his non lead dramas

      • I think The Double gave him a lot of buzz. Even though I previously saw him in SOKP, I really didn’t take notice of him until his role in Amidst a Snowstorm of Love. With all his previous projects, I didn’t see many articles or any real buzz around him until The Double happened. Internationally, I think it helped that the drama was released on both Viki and Netflix. I think people don’t realize how much a drama being accessible on a popular global platform contributes to online chatter. I enjoyed Perfect Match, but even with Netflix exposure, I don’t think an ensemble cast drama with no real lead was the best follow up to keep his momentum going after The Double. Wanted Detective not winding up on Viki or Netflix after that also didn’t help. I hope his upcoming drama Love In Red Dust, plus his upcoming dramas with Bai Lu, and Wu Jin Yan, all wind up on Netflix this time around.

I think his age makes getting lead roles in the right projects hard too. There are only going to be but so many well known solid actresses his age or younger. Anyone popular and older would want to be first billed. I think he needs a serious historical drama with a solid ensemble cast that doesn’t come across like a youth drama. I’d love to see him in something like Nirvana In Fire or Rise of the Phoenixes even if he’s supporting.

      • Wxy doesn’t have X factor, he just getting buzz because his one of his drama get hit (The double) but after that people will forget him and next his drama don’t have buzz, that’s definition of X factor, someone like xz and cy keep getting momentum going even they don’t have any drama (those people who have X factor people will keep following and make news)

  1. This reunion is happening sooner than I expected; glad it’s a modern drama. I really hope they get something interesting and well written. I would rather see them in something more slice of life than rom com though. Just hope whatever they wind up doing makes the most of their chemistry.

As far as WXY’s career goes, I think he’s young enough to not have to worry about cementing his lead status right now. I kind of think it’s for the best he’s not quite there yet. He’ll get the opportunity to work on projects without people demanding that he’s lead. It’s better for his career to be attached to better projects than being stuck with lead roles in mediocre ones. Let him take on supporting roles in acclaimed TV and film projects with prominent vets to get him on that path. If he gets more respect in the future for being solid actor and not just a traffic star, he’ll have a better career.

    • I agree. I’m not too into the modern dramas for cdramas, but I’m glad WXY is leading one. It helps diversify his portfolio. I feel like people keep thinking he’s older. He’s only 23. No need to rush and have him burn himself out. I hope he gets a chance to play a variety of roles and have fun with acting before he feels pressured.

  2. I actually want to see him with other actresses. There’s so many beautiful actresses that he can pair up with. He has that mature look that makes him easy to match with anyone. He’s such a handsome guy!

  3. Blech i’m over these leads. I’m over most of the traffic stars if im being honest. Most of them act the same in every role they play. It’s boring. Second leads keep overshadowing lead actors because their roles are more diverse and are able to offer something fresh to the audience.
