I don’t know if the big budget A-lister prestige K-dramas are still a sure bet after last year saw a few do less than stellar. The biggest disappointment is probably political thriller Polaris (The Tempest) with Jeon Ji Hyun and Kang Dong Won, and production is still going forward with The Koreans a remake of the US series The Americans. Lee Byung Hun has been confirmed as the male lead and the female lead was originally courting Jeon Ji Hyun but she ended up not accepting after the backlash Polaris received from political issues. Now the female lead is in talks with Han Ji Min and if she accepts it’ll be a funny reunion of sorts with Lee Byung Hun since over 23 years ago when both were in K-drama All In but had no scenes since she was the younger (teen) version of the female lead played by Song Hye Kyo. Oh how times fly.
