Princess Agent’s Sequel Rebirth with Li Yun Rui and Huang Yang Tian Tian Tentatively Scheduled for April 2026 Release
So lunar new year is in mere days and already the 2025 C-drama season truly feels in the rear view mirror and everyone is onto the latest releases that kicked off the 2026 season. There will be plenty of C-dramas dropping but one interesting one with a lot of baggage is Rebirth (冰湖重生 Bing He Cong Sheng), the sequel to the hit C-drama Princess Agents from nearly a decade ago. It’s a sequel in story narrative but the leads Li Yun Rui, Huang Yang Tian Tian, and Zhang Kang Le are younger than original leads Zhao Li Ying, Lin Geng Xin, and Shawn Dou to begin with. Li Yun Rui picked this drama before his Blossom breakout and status leveling up, and the drama almost got shelved after Huang Yang Tian Tian’s family wealth and jewelry flaunting mini-scandal. All in all it’s a lot of stuff behind the scenes but the preview looks hella awesome though totally different visually in cinematography from the original. K-ent is now saying the drama is tentatively scheduled for an April 2026 release and I’m curious to see more promos beyond the first teaser released last year.

Still not so sure about it. Will wait to see reviews. The main actor I know is okay but the main female still makes me hesitate a bit. It certainly looks flashy and more riveting quality wise than the first but that is due to the time and era difference both were filmed if that makes sense so it is to be expected the production would look better this time around.
Agree with what you said. The majority of these new dramas are flashy undoubtedly but they lack the elements to make them unforgettable (at least to me). Whether it is the weak script/writing, undercooked characters, poor acting or even the aesthetics, this new era’s dramas (many of them to say the least) look way too pretentious.
Regarding Rebirth, I am not even sure whether it is a sequel: characters’ names being changed, its characters list consist of those died in the PA while some of the later’s characters are eliminated, its director asserting it is not a direct sequel. So imo it is more of a remake which is faithful to the novel this time, unlike PA. Even In that case, it gives off a wrong vibe, I mean it was a female centric story yet it seems like the spotlight is on the ML in Rebirth (casting an underage actress for CQ, ML being the top bill and ML position on the poster of the drama as proofs).
In short, I neither expect it to fasten the loose ends left by PA nor I can associate these new cast to the roles. I am probably one of the few who liked the PA adaption way better than the original novel and hoped to see where the PA interpretation whould take the story. But it looks like a tall ask.

I like both actors’ works, so will definitely watch the first episode or two.

I usually don’t like watching a sequel of something where the original cast is not in it but Wow! The teaser looks great! The cast looks great even though all of them are not the original cast members except HYTT but she didn’t play the adult role. I will still check this out when it comes on air and hope it turns out good.
Will check it out for LYR’s sake. I don’t like the ML of Princess Agent. He’s boring and a letdown. The 2nd ML stole the thunder. LOL
