Kim So Hyun and Song Kang in Talks for Romance K-drama White Scandal in a Reunion Project
At the very start of the Netflix K-drama push in 2019 there was the son and daughter of the platform leading the way with Love Alarm. The drama wasn’t a massive hit but did have plenty of viewers and buzz, but more importantly it showed that the streaming giant was serious about making inroads in K-dramas and could produce projects that viewers would watch. Leads Kim So Hyun and Song Kang generated plenty of buzz and now many years later the two could reunite finally to capitalize on all that onscreen chemistry. The two stars are in talks for the romance K-drama White Scandal, where he plays the illegitimate chaebol son and now top star who enters into a contract marriage with her to secure his inheritance. The drama is from the screenwriter of Call it Love and the PD of Mother and Flower of Evil.
Another actress I have big soft spot for. I hope she get a good script. Her recent dramas are hit/miss. I really like to see her for many many years and watch her grow.
Yessss! Absolutely loved them in Love Alarm 1 but part 2 was a huge disappointment. Now with the great news they will be reunited I have something to look forward to!

I don’t care what anyone says, these two were magical in Love Alarm! Love Alarm season 1 would’ve been just another high school romance show if not for the incredible chemistry of these two, their romantic scenes really elevated the drama and made it super buzz-worthy back then. Not to mention, they’re such a visual match, both beautiful with gentle, soft features. Happy they’re reuniting again because their chemistry was wasted in Love Alarm season 2 (yeah, yeah, I know Song Kang’s character was a red flag and toxic, and yadda yadda, I’m just talking about the chemistry lol).
And the plot sounds like it’s going to be a more mature drama, which I’m definitely looking forward to! Let’s gooo! Hope both of them accept!

KSH’s acting always looked effortless. She’s a born actress. Flower of Evil is one of the most brilliantly directed drama. So, I’ll watch this drama for the sake of KSH and the PD. As to SK, he’s yet to prove himself a deserving ML. I hope it doesn’t turn out KSH runs circles around him. lol
I agree! I really like her grounded, nuanced acting style, which unfortunately many international fans can’t appreciate because they’re used to over the top acting.
I think she’s still got a lot of international fans, me included. Nonetheless, her recent dramas did not showcase her strength. Those dramas are not considered hits either. Therefore, it seems she is going less noticeable from fan circles.
Good Boy is definitely a hit. My Lovely Liar and Serendipity’s Embrace are global OTT hits but forgettable and her agency back then did not promote these achievements back then.
@Somebody Yeah she definitely still has a strong international fandom, which is surprising and impressive given how she hasn’t had a strong media presence and visibility in the past few years compared to her Sidus and E&T Story days.
But I’ve been seeing international KDrama fans downplay her talent these days. Was very shocked reading the comments about her in the subreddit r/kdramas. One person there even said Hwang Minhyun carried My Lovely Liar because So Hyun was a bad actress there. I mean, huh? Everyone knows Minhyun is one of the worst actors right now, and to say that So Hyun, a literal Baeksang Best Actress nominee, is worse than him is just crazy and not objective at all. I don’t know, I feel like I’ve just been seeing so much disrespect towards KSH these days from international fans when she’s always been known as an excellent, respected actress. Kinda wild to see lol
@Lena, HMH carried My Lovely Liar? That’s a not-so-lovely, blatant lie. lol. The ML WHO was the reason I dropped My Lovely Liar. He was so bland that I couldn’t lie to watch the drama till the end. lol.
I did enjoy Serendipity’s Embrace. As to Good Boy, I don’t think the writer did the wonderful cast justice. I could see the efforts of PD and those talented actors striving to deliver the story of Good Boy. Regardless of whether it’s a hit or not, Good Boy is a badly scripted tale, a chaotic and fabricated ensemble of Hollywood action gimmicks.
Shes a good actress, cant say the same about him. Also kdramas have been so boring for such a long time because of all these same old tired recycled plots. They cant think out of the box it seems
Love Alarm S1 is a massive hit. It is more popular than Sweet Home. I have not heard or seen many people talk about Sweet Home that much than Love Alarm. LA’s prestige was only dragged down by Season 2 due to poor script.
Happy to see KSH, and the PD and writer have good credits. I haven’t read the web novel it’s based on, but I hope the drama is more interesting than the premise.
FoE director and CIL writer is a combination I can get behind. The web novel looks pretty like all romance web novels. Let’s hope they style her better this time. Glad to know Song Kang doesn’t have the military enlistment looming over him anymore. Kim So Hyun suits her older more mature looks. Excited for this reunion and need it to be very Hot and Sexy! Give us the yearning!
I forgot the writer. I did not recognize Call It Love was one of the unforgettable stories to me when I picked up Kdrama again. The writer had a knack of maximizing impact of deep emotions. So overall, this new drama has an excellent combo of FL, writer, and PD. Song Kang needs to step up his own acting to not put down the others.
Song Kang was pretty mehh in My Demon tho. I do hope he can probe me wrong this time around
