Yang Yang Starts Filming Period C-drama Bu Rang Jiang Shan and Production Immediately Mired in Controversy Over Allegations of Changed Script
There is no argument that the entertainment industry is shady as hell, across any and all countries and productions, so this latest kerfluffle in C-ent isn’t unique to that industry. Production kicked off this week for the period C-drama Bu Rang Jiang Shan (不让江山) starring Yang Yang with female lead Zhou Jie Qiong and Zai Zhi Lu as the second male lead. Immediately after the commencement ceremony, controversy erupted that the production had dual scripts and Yang Yang was hoodwinked into accepting the drama with one script but filming is starting with a different second script. The changes give more screentime to Zai Zhi Lu and may even relegate Yang Yang to third male lead level from screentime alone. His fans are throwing a massive hissy fit and demanding he leave the drama and not pay any penalty and even reporting the production to authorities for fraud. Reportedly Yang Yang will not leave the drama but the production will be tweaking the script to address any concerns.
All the best to him and to Zhou Jieqiong (Kyulkyung) whose role also got chopped! Hope these disgusting practices will come to an end!
I have to google the 2nd ML, Zai Zhi Lu WHO. lol. I found out he isn’t a nobody to me although I couldn’t recognize him at all from the pic. lol. He played the cousin of Xiao Zhan’s character in The Oath of Love, where his role was awkwardly written and his acting was one of the creasiest among all. lol.
So nepotism is rampant, not fictional at all in C-ent. Why do unimpressive actors keep getting important roles and stealing screen time from leading actors? I can’t explain that other than nepotism.

The script changes aren’t just about the 2nd male lead getting more scenes. Reportedly, the aim is to push a bromance plot between the 2nd male lead and the 3rd male lead. The sole purpose of “female lead”, who was relegated to 4th billing (!) and had her character changed from a female general to a physician, is to get the plot through the review process. I have seen her makeup and a 5-year old with fingerprint could have done a better job!
Yang Yang’s role has not only been reduced in screen time, but also the whole character has been turned into someone rather unpleasant. Clearly he is only there because the drama needs a big name to secure investment.
Many actors have been in similar situations before, where the role they signed up for suddenly turned into something completely different, maybe it had to happen to a big name like Yang Yang for people to take notice and hopefully bring this bait-and-switch practice to an end.
People here are slow. Cnetz figured him out far faster. This has all been his team stirring the pot to get him pity and hype because his fame is seriously dwindling. Wake up people.
If he were that worried about his “dwindling” fame, he would appear in variety shows, attend galas and sign more dramas. He’s stepped back on purpose a while ago…

To suechui…For someone of YY’s caliber, yes. The fact that he keeps being pursued to participate in variety shows despite his clear dislike of them following a major incident which put his health at risk has even become a running joke.
First thing first… one of alarming aspect of this so-called “Dual-Script” is Self-harm or Physical Harm being done to Yang Yang. YY’s role were revised to have him repeatedly slaps himself in the face multiple time and being slap by other support casts through out the series and it was specified for HIS FACE. And getting beaten by nearly all co-stars through out the series. So basically, YY is being subjected to Physical Abuses. So the fans were alarmed thinking that production team intentionally to physically harm Yang Yang because they can actually beat him as hard as they wish and they can just say “Sorry, I accidentally hit too hard” and that is worrisome because none of this “Beating Scenes” appeared in Novel or Original Script. This “Beating Aspect” could potentially allow THEM(whoever they are that trying to ruin Yang Yang) to physically cripple him, so they are comparing his situation to Yu Meng Long as they believe Production Team being bribed by someone to Harm Yang Yang Physically, Emotionally & Mentally.
Secondly, something is going on with 2nd ML and Product Team because ML was top Martial Artist in novel, now is secondary and 2nd ML now set to be #1 Martial Artist and beating ML multiple times and each time, followed by humiliation remarks from 2nd ML to ML. Not only that, Top Quality ML’s character traits such as Honor, Nobel, Smart, Quick Wits are being tone down from an “Honest Nobel Scholar” to a “Cheap Beggar with Foul Mouth” who uses vulgar languages repeatedly like an uneducated person and those Top Quality Traits that is the Core of ML’s Character that been removed are revised for 2nd ML’s character traits instead. And this was fully revised in leaked script. The Rumor is, The 2nd and 3rd ML are Talents from The Production Team’s very own Talent Agency. And that 2nd ML came from family with powerful influence in CCP. So the production team is hyping them up at the expense of Yang Yang.
Third of all, Yang Yang’s broken his LEFT Wrist since January which everyone on the production team knew… Then when script leaked, it has 2 jarring scenes added on 9th of February after they made aware of his condition. One of scene was to beat YY’s left hand with a Ruler multiple times, another scene was to burn this left hand. They even Specified it being “LEFT HAND”. Now everyone know his Left Hand is fracture and fracture hand can take a long time to heal… So why THE FVCK do the script insisting on beating his LEFT HAND??? And the scenes doesn’t even exist in Novel or Original Scripts…. SO WHYYYYYYYYY???
Fourth of all, the reason controversy get so big to this point because Production Team failed spectacularly to calm the fans down. They couldn’t answer to why FL was dropped to 4th billing. And they fully admitted the leaked script is real but claimed to be an unfinished draft (but program showed they already shoot some specific scenes in this leaked script). They claimed the cheap-ugly costumes are Concepts that are not reflected on final product but real clothes of those Cheap-Designs are already hanging in Dressing Room!!
And I’m not sure what you mean “Seriously Dwindling”. He is currently, one of very few ones who could score long term contract form from Endorsement, while most actor can only secure 6mth to 1yrs Endorsement, Yang Yang is notably capable of securing 3-5yrs contract. That by industry standard alone is massive that even Yibo and Xiao Zhan having hard time passing 2yrs Deal.
Also, you don’t seemed to be very good at Critical Thinking?? Cause he’s the sole reason why investors show up and the very same reason that Tencent offered to upgrade Drama Budget from S to S+ and the only require from Tencent was to get “Yang Yang” on project. If his fame dwindling, why would they bother to upgrade Tier of Drama’s budget??
And little gossip spreading around they had to bring Yang Yang back early to do some simple shooting even though his hand is not recovered because Investors threaten to pull out if Yang Yang back out.

Apparently there’s no dual scripts involved, there’s only one script and his team accepted it despite not being satisfied with it because they wanted to secure this S+ drama. The other dramas offered to him are A+ or S grade. Their plan is to secure an S+ drama first, then invoke the fandom to fight the production team and force change the script to their liking. Looks like their plan is working.

@Lol Him alone is not enough to make a drama S+, the reason this drama gets S+ is because a famous director was attached to it. The fact that YY fans claimed to know the scripts and costumes hanging in dressing rooms tells me that YY team deliberately leaked all these to them. Why? To use the fandom to fight the production team and change the script to their liking of course.

To Lilith You are not addressing the main issue which is that it is in fact a YIN YANG SCRIPT. Both Yang Yang’s and Zhou Jieqiong’s roles got massively downgraded and the storyline was completely changed, so much so that the original author unfollowed the drama when the script (which was acknowledged by the production as real) was leaked. For some reason, you just want YY to be in the wrong here when he’s the one (along with the FL) being defrauded. I am talking about facts while you are talking about mere rumors that fit whatever narrative you have in mind.
Oh… the drama team is the one who’s been pursuing YY, not the opposite.
It’s a FACT that there is NO dual scripts, the production team’s clarification also stated that. As for pursuing YY, well, this drama pursued other actors first but was rejected by them, the project then got passed on to YY.
To Lilith: enough with the fanfiction! Read the production team’s statement and you will see for yourself! The draft DOES deviate significantly from the source material and from what was initially announced, and this is exactly why the original author took his distance from the drama (while still following YY). Why would YY not be in a position to get S+ projects when every one of his projects has brought in the moolah? To this day, Fireworks of My Heart remains one of the most profitable drama for MangoTV. The Immortal Ascension was also highly profitable for Youku, the drama team and the donghua team. You clearly have an issue with YY so I won’t argue further
I feel this has happened a lot most of the time way before this situation. For one they always have to have 3-4 love stories or situations and one way or another the leads always seem to get like 5-10 minutes or barely any screen time while other characters get spotlighted more than leads. I think they have always done this and some times it’s cool and most times annoying hence why you always hear people say they fast forward a lot due to this occurrence. It just surprising someone spoke about it till now. I sometimes wish more would speak out about it.

Surprising and bold of the production to do this to an actor who’s doing main roles for 15 years and who probably netted them the money they need to make the drama happen. Seems like the sort of stunt one would pull on a rising traffic actor with a shorter filmography. I wonder if there could be any sort of miscommunication where the drama ends up being more an ensemble drama than fans expected or if Yang Yang was getting shafted with a drastically changed script. Wouldn’t this risk investors pulling out or not wanting to work with the writer, director, and production company later on?
