Song Zu Er and Ding Yu Xi Pair Up for Period C-drama The Palace Stewardess with Filming to Begin this Month March 2026
We’re into March now of this year and another C-drama is slated to start filming and with a different male lead than originally rumored. The Palace Stewardess (Si Gong Ling 司宫令) is currently scheduled to kick off on March 16th with female lead Song Zu Er as discussed but the male lead is now Ding Yu Xi. Neither are confirmed but this is basically set, all the pre-work is mostly done and filming starts in a little over a week. The original male lead in discussion was Xu Kai who I personally like better than Ding Yu Xi but is not as strong of an actor. And in an interesting twist, Song Zu Er and Ding Yu Xi will be jointly top billed for this project so it’s a sign of him getting a position boost.
I appreciate Song Zu Er more in modern dramas. Her whispering voice, for some reason, is more prominent in her period works. LOL.
It’s been almost six years since I’ve seen Ding Yuxi on screen. LOL. The last time was in The Romance of Tiger and Rose.
Yah it seems for now she is stuck in historical dramas mode for now. I liked her modern ones more to be honest. Would be nice to see her in modern.
Again? I wish she would do a modern drama. Not to mention she is way out of DYX league. Meh

But I have to disagree with you as I find his acting quite okay and comfortable to watch (not too try hard like some others). But his visuals are inconsistent, with good and bad moments, I always find that his acting elevate his visuals.
I really like her, but I have only seen him in dramas I dropped fast. To be honest, there is something about his face I just don’t like.
I don’t like to dissect the appearance of others but I can’t help but noticing that DYX’s chin looks way shorter maybe it’s the editing in these photos
I’m not the only one who thinks he’s had surgery. You should see his old photos. He was even uglier than now. So I think there’s been an improvement, but it’s really obvious that it’s not his real face. He’s always described as cute or adorable, but never handsome. The public is very perceptive.
He reminds me of Hou Ming Hao because the over-the-top makeup they both wear makes them look uncanny (both in events and in dramas). HMH looked good in I Am Nobody, without excessive contouring.
I don’t understand the criticism towards Ding Yuxi…I swear people are so shallow. Boy can act and he’s pretty handsome imo. I love Song Zuer as well, I’m glad she still managed to make a come back after her ‘scandal’. She’s talented (we sure would have missed a lot if she was canceled)
After seeing them interacting on awards ceremonies/events, I personally think they’re a good fit. Looking forward to their cooperation.
Same here. I know he is not the standard visual in chinese entertainment, but he is far from ugly. The comments here are so mean. For once, I think cnetz are much nicer.
Yes. I get him.. what I don’t get are those long, narrow melon-seed faces that could compete with actresses in a femininity contest.
HAHAHAHA. That’s DYX. He looks like this lately. Just compare his before vs his after. But here we are also talking about facial harmony and nice features (even with a feminine look being a male). DYX doesn’t have balance & he depends entirely on make-up. He is not handsome. With faces like his looking cute is the best thing. Hahaha.
He’s not ugly and looks better than the average man but let’s not pretend that his face doesn’t look kinda weird now. It’s as if he had a resection.
As someone who works with facial features everyday, this is my professional opinion: dyx’s facial changes are caused by his habits. He’s a nailbiter and he, i believe, grinds his teeth too- probably in his sleep. This is why you see his lower face becomes shorter over the years and his jaw (or more accurately his jaw muscle) becomes more prominent. You can also see his teeth are shorter and more level over the years – all signs pointing to teeth grinding. He needs to stop his habits otherwise he’ll have a lot of problems later.
I wonder too if he has been feeling stressful or anxious. Both nailbiting and teethgrinding are stress-related habits.
But i do like this pairing, both of them has good reputation and rapport in the industry.
