Song Zu Er and Ding Yu Xi Start Filming Tencent Period Romance C-drama The Palace Stewardess
The cute duo of Song Zu Er and Ding Yu Xi are off to the races, with filming commencing for Tencent period C-drama The Palace Stewardess. Fans may notice Ding Yu Xi’s name before Song Zu Er but that’s due to the two being listed based on the number of strokes in their last name as required now by the broadcast authorities to end the billing wars. That does mean Ding Yu Xi will forever be first named lol and I can’t imagine another actor or actress having less strokes in their last name than him with two strokes haha and someone like Ju Jing Yi might as well park herself in the right side of every poster from now until eternity. All teasing aside, I am good with this lead pairing and the first costume visuals of the leads also look decent enough.
I’ve only seen one drama from each of them: The Prisoner of Beauty and The Romance of Tiger and Rose — I had positive impressions of both, especially Song Zu Er. I don’t like culinary concepts though. Maybe when it comes out, I’ll be curious to see how the story unfolds, considering that it’s based on a novel by 米兰Lady, author of The Lonely City (Serenade of Peaceful Joy).

No royal titles. The role Ding Yuxi is going to play is a reclusive or disgraced chef who teaches Wu Zhenzhen (Song Zuer) culinary skills so she can enter the palace as part of his scheme xD.

No offense but her hands look a little too skeleton like 😳. This super skinny trend worries me for our entertainers these days. They both act well but the story does not sound too thrilling. Hope it works out for them.
They all look malnourished, male and female actor/actresses alike. It loons worse when they’re wearing shorts/skirts.

I defended LYN? I have no idea who you mistook me for but I never defended that guy. She carried that drama too. LYN neither looks good and his acting is at best mediocre. If I am being nice. He should go back to singing and quit polluting dramas.
SZR is better actress and way more charismatic than either of these.

Yes, he’s a complicated and theatrical character. It takes an actor of Li Meng’s caliber to make it work well and not look ridiculous.

This is literally my first time commenting on Song Zu’er, and honestly, I’m just not fond of her “bird mouth” look, it’s distracting for me.
There’s this slight disconnect I keep noticing: her eyes seem to be trying to convey one emotion, but her mouth shapes it differently, and it pulls me out of the scene. It’s not even about hating, it’s just a personal viewing experience. Not everyone is going to resonate with every actor’s expressions or micro-movements, and that’s normal.
Chill, will you? It’s not like one comment from someone outside her country is going to ruin her very obvious strong resources and public resonance especially given her solid foundation as a child star. You can appreciate her acting and that’s fine. But you can’t expect everyone else to process performances the exact same way you do.

I used to not care but I liked her in PoB so now my POV is different for the moment. I like her visuals in costume dramas, not his. Styling can make Song Zuer look easy on the eyes when she wears hanfu. The bottom on Ding Yuxi’s face lately looks like it has been sunken, and the pile of makeup he wears doesn’t help. His face looked better shaped before.
