Tencent Period Drama Tigers Sniff the Rose to Confirm Leads Meng Zi Yi and Li Yun Rui in Reunion After Popular Drama Blossom — 13 Comments

  1. Is China also starting to confirm their dramas in advance now? Not that I’m complaining.

  2. Industry insiders have been saying since last December that it will be these two leads and they signed in March.

It’s incorrect to say that ZLH passed up the role when he was never considered in the first place

  3. Actually the translation of 尚公主 is not Princess Shang. It is a formal/respectful way to say marrying a princess

    • Forgot to add it’s a commoner/non-royal marrying a princess, that the word “shang 尚“ is used

      • Yes, you’re correct!

The Chinese title should be interpreted as “Marrying the Princess” instead.

  4. I just wish producers trusting their scripts more than the casting of their leads.

  5. That is so annoying to hear how the fandoms act like that. Like do they realize how doing so might hinder their favorite stars progress as an actor. Hope the script, direction and editing goes well cause their last drama for me did well due to this fact. Not downing on their acting though.

  6. The drama was good but not memorable. The one that deserves the most credit is the director. Strong start, but plot became dragged out. Both actors are cute but have lots of room for improvement, especially LYR. His fandom has been earning ill will trying to fight for 1st ranking, which is the dumbest thing. Calm down, accumulate more than 1 good project, then talk about your value.

    • people have been praising the leads acting. but actually the good directing really help in covered up their flaw

  7. This seems a very good casting choice. LYR’s aura fits the hero and MZY fits the heroine in the book. The couple certainly have great chemistry in and outside Blossom. If the script of “Marrying the Princess” (correct Chinese title) is well written and well executed, this is definitely another drama to binge.

  8. The highest credit should go to the director, followed by the cast. Even with top-tier actors, if the direction is weak and the storyline lacks coherence, no amount of star power can save a drama.
Also, it’s worth noting that both leads have only had one successful project each so far. Meng Ziyi’s new drama just premiered yesterday, so it’s still too early to judge.
