Zhang Ling He’s Next Project Period C-drama Revenge Reportedly Changing Female Lead Lu Yu Xiao to Yang Chao Yue
Lol, talk about fandom complaining themselves into a downgrade. C-actor Zhang Ling He‘s leveling up this year thanks to hit drama Pursuit of Jade has made his fandom even more vocal and demanding about his projects and costars. His next drama is slated to be period drama Revenge (Ci Tang 刺棠) and the female lead has been mostly confirmed to be Lu Yu Xiao. However the two fandoms got into a fight (per usual) and then the drama production changed the director since the original one was blamed for the poor directing choices in Republic era drama Overdo. This week the casting rumor is that the drama has switched female leads from Lu Yu Xiao to Yang Chao Yue, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing for Lu Yu Xiao who is reportedly going off to shoot another C-drama titled Qi Xing Cai 七星彩 or Seven Star Light. For a drama that hasn’t even started filming there is certainly a lot of behind-the-scenes drama already lol. And if indeed Yang Chao Yue is the female lead then oooof what a disappointing turn of events.
Yep a downgrade for sure lol alls well that ends well… hopefully they find a good director and production crew to make up for it with so many changes. These fan bases are so maddening. 😆😬

Yep, it’s probably best if they reject projects with him because his fandom is way over the top.
Lu Yu Xiao is a better actress than YCY, but LYX has a very unprofessional reputation. Besides the frequent NGs, the worse thing is how she brings her fan site manager to sets. These people are not employed by the production or have signed non-disclosure agreements. Instead, they are not only taking beautified pictures of her, but also taking pictures of her co-stars to sell or use for other nefarious deeds. Gross invasion of privacy. It’s been going on for 3 years and despite being called out multiple times, she continues to do this.
Yea its hard to have a good impression of her since she always goes on hot searches for unprofessionalism, like making goofy dances during serious filming moments and now apparently her team manager is getting sued by Tan Jianci’s team for the pictures issue.
It would be interesting if she works with Zhang Linghe though since his fans hate her so much. Wonder if some of his more crazy fans would start throwing eggs at her or doing more drastic things if she starts having frequent NGs, or her team is caught filming him. Maybe this is what she and/or her team needs to be taught a lesson.
Seriously is it ok to bring fansite manager on sets, isn’t that weird? Doesn’t it make the fansite managers no different than hired pr employee of the artist?
Not ok at all. It’s like having a stranger in your home taping you. Leaks of you sitting in your dressing room picking your teeth can be released if they get in a fan fight, which happens with 100% of her dramas. Or can be used as leverage against you.
She has to be responsible for her employees’ actions. But fan site manager isn’t employed, there is no oversight. If they cause issues, like what is happening now, she absolves herself.
Not to say that Zhang Linghe’s fandom is less crazy. They are both artists under the same company and are familiar with each others tactics. Maybe they are best to work together to save everyone else.

If ZLH’s upcoming dramas flop after Pursuit of Jade, he’ll end up just like WXY after The Double. It’s crazy how both can have a huge hit but still get jinxed by outside factors. lol

Has any corporation heavily manipulated a Wang XingYue’s drama’s data to make investors and people in general believe in the revival of the mainstream industry and make us believe a long drama could pull up over 100 millions views per day in 2026 ? I do not remember a Wang XingYue getting mocked by Cnetz at the end of “The Double” nor making another actor outside of the production, popular. If anything he gathered respect especially for his voice acting something ZLH has yet to have. Matter of fact I don’t remember any organic serious megahit Chinese drama that really touched the public getting called “boiled fish” or fraudulent be it by fans or non fans. So yeah WXY has nothing to do with ZLH

As for their popularity, I do not care about how they are perceived in China. I mainly watch global platforms like Disney+, Netflix, the BBC, and HBO. Objectively speaking, Netflix has absolutely no reason to manipulate data to promote an “unknown” Chinese actor. It is a certified fact that Pursuit of Jade is the most-watched Chinese drama on Netflix. It is also the only Chinese drama to rank in the global Top 10 non-English shows during its premiere run. Fans of other actors need to stop trying so hard to deny reality. Lol.
You may not care how things are perceived in China but they do. The d9mestic market and how they are viewed by their own folks matter first before any foreign views. Reason why something the “Knockout” is still considered as the template of success as a Chinese drama. And unlike POJ, “The Knockout” raised the stock value of Iqiyi by the end of the drama and the production house did not file for bankruptcy because nothing was coherent between the numbers they said they had and the reality. So yeah you don’t care but I don’t think they do.
Wang Xing Yue and Zhang Ling He do not have the same appeal as actor. Zhang LingHe has been active for almost a decade now but his acting is still soulless, his voice acting is poor -and don’t come here and say that is not true, he is not reputed in China for having good lines delivery he has to be dubbed especially for costume dramas- , he is still at this stage where a secondary actor can overshadow him easily, and where capitalists have to aggressively push him to the top to the point of blatantly faking data in front of everyone. I do not see all of those facts about Wang XingYue. So same appeal ? Ok
LOL. I saw ZLH being used as a propaganda tool in the cross-Strait conflict, just like my fave. If ZLH were as unpopular as his detractors’ wishful thinking suggests, the CCP authorities wouldn’t be tapping into his fame to push the current regime’s most critical political narratives.
Both he, the racist pos and his trash fandom deserve this downgrade. I actually feel sorry for YXY because when this flops they will blame it on her. God forbid their precious gege be at fault with his terrible acting.
Used to be his fan, but he really showed his true colors with the comment about south East Asians. I can only hope flops for him and his career. I at least won’t be supporting it by tuning in.
Sorry, but do you really think that would affect him? After being exposed to C-ent, do non-Chinese fans and people outside China still think they matter to Chinese celebrities the way international fans do in K-ent?
I wonder if the production could not afford to have two high traffic, expensive-to-cast well-liked actors, especially when the industry is dealing with shrinking investments. Maybe they would have been easier to cast LYX and ZLH if this was before Pursuit of Jade and Love in the Clouds. I’d be curious to see if/how YCY has improved.
Deja Vu. This is exactly the same casting after the first rumor of LYX was floated. This melon is probably the work of their psycho agency, which is fine with pitting their fandoms against each other for negative hot searches. I have seriously doubts that Limnon is going to cast Yang Chao Yue … but maybe she’ll appear in another drama with ZLH.
I read something saying that Zhang Linghe and Lu Yuxiao’s agency blocked the casting studio from casting other celebrities for the roles, so most likely the roles will go to these two only. I don’t think projects like this would go to Yang Chaoyue, at least not anymore. Maybe back when she was C-ent’s darling.
I’m assuming all this hate under ZLH posts are mostly because he has such a toxic fandom. Or is it because of that tactless comment about SE Asians? I’m SE Asian and I don’t think he’s THAT bad. Sure, he’s not the best actor or even the best-looking person, but c’mon I’ve seen worse than him and they don’t get as much hate. Too bad he can’t keep his fandom in line. He’s a classic example of getting hated on because of his rabid fans.
