Ever since veteran actor Lee Soon Jae hit 85 years old I’ve been dreading this inevitable news. Each year that he kept on working was a joy to behold and a reassurance that he was still able to do what he loved and was so good at. Alas the time has come to say goodbye to South Korea’s national grandpa … Continue reading →
I said already the soul swapping drama genre seems to be making a comeback and now we see another one in the planning. The webtoon One Hour of Romance (1/24 of Romance) will be getting a K-drama adaption and the leads in talks are Shin Hye Sun and Na In Woo. Shin Hye Sun is basically actress putty she can … Continue reading →
So it’s been both a relatively uneventful year in K-dramas (to date) with both buzzy hits and critically acclaimed releases. I still think when When the Stars Gossip premiered on January 4th, 2025 it just jinxed the entire year lol. Anyhoo, the Joynews poll of over a hundred K-ent insiders released their picks for Best K-drama Couple and it’s none … Continue reading →
So my early verdict is that MBC drama Moon River (The Moon Flows Over the River) has just arrived like a knight in shining armor to save a lackluster 2025 year in K-drama land. This drama is amazing and like the best K-drama crack, with all the elements set up perfectly and executed beautifully. It’s best described as if The … Continue reading →
The K-drama Remarried Empress adapted from the same name webtoon is female lead centric for sure but the more interesting characters are actually the male leads. Our Empress Navier is just perfect, beautiful and wise and caring, and her only drawback is that she is bad at communicating her feelings lol. We root for her because what happened to her … Continue reading →
So 2026 will kick off in January with a big budget big name production team filming a highly anticipated new romance sageuk K-drama titled Soul. The leads are confirmed to be Kang Dong Won and Kim Go Eun, with scene-stealing supporting actress Kim Shin Rok joining them. This is just the tip of the iceberg and I expect a lot … Continue reading →
It was preview week for Disney+ on their upcoming 2026 slate of K-dramas so the first look teaser is also out for supernatural themed K-drama Delusion. It’s adapted from the same name dark webtoon and stars Suzy and Kim Sun Ho in a change of their usual bright and sunshiny image, and of course a reunion from Start-up. Her character … Continue reading →
So it’s 2026 K-drama preview time and in addition to the first look at Remarried Empress there are also the first ever drama stills out from MBC modern romance Perfect Crown (Korean title 21st Century Prince’s Wife). Starring IU and Byun Woo Seok, this is one of the three biggest on deck K-dramas for next year in 2026 with the … Continue reading →
Hoo boy do these four K-stars look phenomenal in character for the upcoming K-drama version of webtoon Remarried Empress. Even if it’s a hot mess adaptation (and honesty the webtoon was also a hot mess to begin with) at least the visuals will be glorious and spot on. Shin Mina does regal and classy Navier beautifully and Joo Ji Hoon … Continue reading →
It’s nice of Joynews to confirm that K-ent industry insiders also view the same turkeys in K-drama land sucking as bad as regular viewers thought of them. If you wasted any time on watching these then my condolences, for others please use this to avoid hurting your brain. Topping the poll of 110 industry insiders on worst K-drama of 2025 … Continue reading →
The annual year end lists tend to start earlier and earlier which is fine, the last two months tend to fly by anyways. The annual Joynews poll of 110 K-ent insiders from producers, to agents, to writers, to directors and more is out and the first category is Top Drama Actor/Actress of the year. IU leads with 23 votes thanks … Continue reading →
Legal K-drama Good Partner was a big win last year in K-drama land even when it finished there was talk of a second season. Good Partner 2 is for sure happening now but with a change in one of the lead actresses. Kim Hye Yoon will be taking over for Nam Ji Hyun who is not returning for GP2, so … Continue reading →
I won’t read into the reason given as it could be true or just an excuse but I think this may be a smart choice for Jeon Ji Hyun. The top actress has turned down big budget and high profile espionage and political thriller K-drama The Koreans opposite Lee Byung Hun. She will instead head into filming fantasy romance K-drama … Continue reading →
