So the Golden Eagle Awards are for the serious fare and most of the Flowers in C-ent are doing idol dramas with the rare one-off to tackle a procedural or war-era period piece. But it is striking that both Yang Mi and Liu Shi Shi are ignominiously called out for being the only two Flowers without a nominated drama in … Continue reading →
The long break for C-actor Yang Yang to get back on the small screen has been good for him after last summer’s disastrous Fireworks of My Heart airing where he got hit with the “oily acting” comments in full force. Since then he’s filmed The Immortal Ascension but no word on when that will air, and end of this month … Continue reading →
The promos are picking up for upcoming Coupang Play drama Cinderella at 2am. I am fine with noona-dongsaeng romances if the chemistry is there but I have strong reservations with female lead Shin Hyun Bin, not because she can’t act but because she has never shown any romantic or sexual chemistry onscreen in any drama I have watched of hers. … Continue reading →
The first Zhao Lu Si plastic surgery rumors were a few years ago and was around her nose, which is usually where it starts. Now it’s back in chatter and reportedly she got more work done on the nose plus the lips and eyes and cheeks. Basically the South Korean special, and she was in SK for a few weeks … Continue reading →
There is a spate of Tang dynasty dramas coming out way and I’ve been following along with the two big ones that filmed this year with Zhao Lu Si in Story of Pearl Girl and Yang Zi with Flourished Peony. But there is an already filmed Tang dynasty drama Brocade Odyssey with Tang Song Yun and Zheng Ye Cheng on … Continue reading →
This is a fantastic next role for C-actress Yang Chao Yue, I may not like her due to her limited acting but watching her reboot her flower vase drama leading actress roles to this is a smart move. She’s landed the role of female lead in the upcoming C-drama adaptation of hit HK-movie King of Comedy which is directed by … Continue reading →
What perfect timing for jTBC to release its first still of upcoming sports and procedural drama Good Boy. It’s a drama revolving around medal winning retired South Korean Olympians who have become police officers and their intersecting stories. Park Bo Gum is a boxer and Kim So Hyun a sharpshooter so both have the athletic skills in the drama to … Continue reading →
So word on the street and all signs point to the imminent release of period C-drama Hidden Charm on Tencent. It will either be next week or right after the Olympics but either way the amnesia with fake marriage turned real love between secret enemies drama is coming. Starring Zhang Wan Yi and Wang Chu Ran and adapted from a … Continue reading →
So I thought Byun Woo Seok would be the face of Clinique Men when it was announced the brand had selected him. Turns out he may still be doing the Men or the skincare line, but he’s also doing their makeup endorsement. His first pictures are out for the August 2024 edition of Dazed Korea magazine where he is clearly … Continue reading →
So director Guo Jing Ming is famous for his works focusing more on visuals and aesthetics over all else. If he’s lucky and has a compelling story and good actors then it works like My Journey to You, but most of his stuff just comes off as empty but pretty. He’s planning to make the C-drama version of Painted Skin, … Continue reading →
I love a controversial take, it makes for good back and forth discussion. A news article this week in K-ent has a reporter doing a review of post military discharge Park Bo Gum and deemed him a disappointment. The ensemble movie Wonderland got bad reviews and low box office, and now his variety show My Name is Gabriel is also … Continue reading →
This feels like an anchor project for C-actor Gong Jun, a make-or-break moment for him to stay an A-list drama male lead or show that Word of Honor was indeed a one-hit wonder for him. He hasn’t had a hit in four years and the most promising ones Legend of Anle and Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact were both … Continue reading →
So this has to be an upgrade in total from the original leads first in talks for the drama The Price of Confession. It was supposed to star Song Hye Kyo and Han So Hee, and now has leads Jeon Do Yeon and Kim Go Eun in those roles as a woman wrongly accused of murdering her husband and the … Continue reading →
