The upcoming MBC college-set music-themed K-drama You’ve Fallen for Me (formerly known as Festival), has selected the fan-voted title Heartstrings for it’s English title (while the Korean title remains You’ve Fallen for Me). I know, it’s totally weird, but I do like the title Heartstrings, which alludes to both the romance and the music elements of this drama. The drama … Continue reading →
This will be the second to last written preview I bring for 49 Days, which is bittersweet, much like how this drama makes me feel. I’ve ended up loving 49 Days so much that it’s earlier bumps now seem so distant. I won’t hazard a guess as to how this drama will end, only that I am expecting to cry … Continue reading →
The original flavor flower boy, though I should perhaps call him flower man now that he’s completed his military service, has been released from MS for all of less than two weeks, and he’s probably done more than I do in half a year. Jo In Sung‘s first post-MS CF is already out, and he’s going James Bond suave to … Continue reading →
This is it, folks. I’m officially sold. Do you accept credit cards, oh production of Material Queen? The upcoming TW-drama held a press conference this week with Lynn Xiong and Daniel Chan (Vanness Wu couldn’t make it due to scheduling conflicts) as the promotional train continues. While the more I watch the first trailer the more I love the trailer … Continue reading →
It’s been a dismal showing for Chinese movies (Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan) at the Cannes Film Festival this year. The only movie to be invited was director Peter Chan‘s scientific martial arts film Wuxia (武俠), starring Donnie Yen, Takashi Kaneshiro, and Tang Wei. Wuxia had a midnight showing at Cannes two days ago, and all the stars of … Continue reading →
SBS has confirmed that Kim Sun Ah will be co-starring with the soon-to-be-discharged Lee Dong Wook in the upcoming weekend drama Scent of a Woman, which will follow New Tales of the Gisaeng to air in mid-July. Coincidentally, this will be both actors return to the drama screens in two years, since Lee Dong Wook has been in the military for … Continue reading →
While I love Ha Ji Won and think she is literally a goddess come to life for her amazing breadth of acting roles in her career, I don’t always love her projects, nor automatically watch anything she stars in. This baby, however, I’m totally onboard for. The sure-to-be-a-blockbuster Summer K-movie Sector 7, starring Ha Ji Won, Ahn Seung Ki (also … Continue reading →
Wah? WAHHHH? I almost had to look ten times in a row to make sure I wasn’t seeing some sort of hallucination, but indeed, it was real. MBC released the written preview for episode 5 of Best Love already. I just know I am going to have to drink upwards of 5 energy drinks next Wed-Thurs just to get through … Continue reading →
The Taiwan airing of Sunny Happiness on CTV is wrapping up in two weeks, and it’s successor drama Mei Le, Go (though it looks like the English title may be Love Keeps Going) is ramping up for its premiere. Okay, I’m just never going to concur with the decision to air one Mike He drama right after another Mike He … Continue reading →
If you watch Drunken to Love You carefully, you’ll notice that Jie Xiu and Xiao Ru are not the stereotypical bickering opposites attract type of couple. They don’t always argue, and when they butt heads, it’s not because of selfishness, it’s because they are looking out for the other person. Jie Xiu pushes Xiao Ru to get over Yi Xian, … Continue reading →
I can’t deny that I am extremely curious about Material Queen, the upcoming TW-drama starring Vanness Wu and Lynn Xiong, which was filmed on location in Paris, styled by Patricia Fields, and helmed by the PD who directed the unbelievably beautiful Autumn’s Concerto. While the story doesn’t appeal to me right off the bat (hur, what do I know about … Continue reading →
Best Love (The Greatest Love) is a shining example of what I keep saying about rom-coms. The basic premise is always the same, all the elements are recycled in various iterations, and the end result is a foregone conclusion. The only way to create a memorable and engaging rom-com is to understand the inherent limitations and use it to your … Continue reading →
I am running out of superlatives to describe 49 Days, while the drama is clearly not running out of steam or gamechanging cliffhangers. O.M.G. I was not expecting the ending of episode 18. Heh, how many of you are going to skip ahead and read my last paragraph after what I just said? Bravo for the completely awesome and unexpected (only as … Continue reading →
