I didn’t think head to toe red could stand out on an actual red carpet but it helps that the backdrop is all blue for the 2017 Taipei Film Awards. Top actress Shu Qi stole the event in a fiery red-orange suited outfit with matching pumps, turning the dress requirement on its head as well as the fashion no no of being too matchy or too one color. That orange red color seems to be in or coming in now as Gwei Lun Mei wore gorgeous strappy gladiator heels in that color as did a few other attendees rock the shade in traditional dresses rather than the modern feminine suit as Shu Qi did. Chris Wu took home Best Actor for White Ant and Ivy Yin beat out Shu Qi and Tiffany Hsu for Best Actress for The Island of River Flow. Nice to see so many talented Taiwanese actors and actresses continue to develop their craft and get recognition at high levels. Continue reading
