I don’t have much of an opinion about the sudden casting news around School 2017, but I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. If casting newbies is what KBS wanted that would be fine but I’m getting whiplash feeling like the network couldn’t even decide which direction it wanted to go. The drama had been courting teenage actress Kim Yoo Jung for the lead role which didn’t make much sense considering she’s outgrown the franchise after Moonlight Drawn by Clouds and the production claimed to be casting all new faces.

This week Kim Yoo Jung officially declined the role and suddenly the second female lead that was cast Kim Se Jung of idol groups gugudan and I.O.I. has been shifted up to the leading actress role to take over for Kim Yoo Jung. I’ve never seen Kim Se Jung act because she, well, hasn’t ever acted but she could be a natural like Yook Sung Jae.
