I recently posted about Jang Geun Seok at the Pyeongchang Olympics event where he was made an ambassador for the upcoming showcase of South Korea on the world sports stage once again. He wasn’t looking his best with the awful flat middle parted hair and more rotund than usual but who cares when he was honored to be selected as the ambassador and seems to be doing great in his career.
Another big news came this week after SBS announced that Jang Geuk Seok was in talks for the network’s early spring 2018 Wed-Thurs time slot K-drama tentatively titled Peacock King. It will follow the police drama Return with Go Hyun Jung and Lee Jin Wook. Peacock King is about a super smart male lead who doesn’t take the prosecutor’s exam and instead does investigations to solve crime as a prosecutor would but outside the restrictions of the legal channels. It’s a legal drama so once again SBS is doing cop-legal drama toggles to start 2018.
Jang Geun Seok if he accepts will play the titular Peacock King, so called because he’s a swindler of sorts by posing as others and committing fraud, but all in the name of meting out justice against the powerful such as politicians and even corrupt prosecutors. Sounds like if Lee Min Ho‘s character in Legend of the Blue Sea spent the entire drama solving crime as a criminal element himself.
