More Teaser Trailers from SETTV for Drunken to Love You
SETTV is finally dropping the motherlode of trailers and teaser for its upcoming Sunday night TW-drama Drunken to Love You. The more I see of this drama the more I want to watch it. While it don’t think it can get close to the incredible ratings Fated to Love You garnered (which I attribute to the breakout of Ethan Ruan more than the drama actually having a compelling and logical storyline, which it didn’t), I can already tell that it looks like Rainie Yang will hit this one out of the park.
She’s nailing the OTT comedy, the quiet introspection, and the seething anger and frustration her character experiences. Joseph Chang may not be conventionally good looking, but if he sells his character and performance then none of that matters. In the end, it’s all about the entire package, and I’m crossing my fingers that DTLY has it. I’m embedding two new teasers, and have translated all the dialogue, because that’s the way I roll.
Teaser 1:
Friend of JC: Brother Xiu (which sounds like “to fix”), just because we all call you Brother Xiu doesn’t mean you have to constantly fix everything in your life. How can you get married, you’ll “fix” your wife (which is a euphemism for divorcing her), ahahaha.
Friend of RY: You can fly over there to see him now.
RY: My passport and luggage have all been confiscated by Song Jie Xiu (name of JC’s character). And he won’t return it to me. Ahahahaha. *silence*

JC: Except for Song Jie Xiu, Tang Ai Wei, Lin Xiao Ru (name of RYs character), no one else can know of the contract/fake marriage.
RY: Oops, it’s too late, I already told my co-worker Meng Jun.
JC: That fatso?
RY: Hey, she’s pregnant! And before she got pregnant she was very slender.
JC: Why don’t you take a loudspeaker and announce it to the world? During the contract period, Lin Xiao Ru shall assume all the wifely duties. That’s reasonable, right?
RY: Ugh! *she pours an entire spice bottle into the pot of soup*
JC: What is that?
RY: Combination porridge. *runs off*
JC: Hey, you are being way too obvious here. *continues reading from the contract* Neither party shall do anything that will harm the reputation of the other person.
RY: *to doctor* Don’t you know what a horrible temper my husband has? When he’s angry, he locks me outside. *JC pushes RY and says that “this is my house* Or he will throw things at me. Or he will withhold food from me, making me go hungry. I am doing this with a “for the sake of humanity” conviction when I agreed to marry him.
Doctor: Mrs. Song, let me tell you this, for your own safety, you must courageously say “NO” to violence.
JC: *yells* What are you saying over there? *continues reading from contract* Neither party shall be disheveled in front of the other person, and purposely try to seduce the other person. *takes off his pants in the bath, turns and sees RY* What are you doing in my bathroom!
RY: PERVERT!!!!
JC: I let you watch a free Chippendales show – even though you got some eye candy, I totally got the losing end of the bargain.
RY: There was nothing good that was worth looking at, okay. You caused me to have to waste money to go to the temple and chase away the bad spirits from this experience. Even worse, I may have to go see an opthamalogist to get my eyes checked!
JC: The person who needs to go to the temple to chase away the evil spirits is me! You hid in my bathroom without making any movement, I thought you commited suicide in there.
RY: Hahahahaha, oh puhleeeese! If I wanted to kill myself, I would at least pick a scenic spot, I would never ever die in your house! *RY talks to JC about the contract* Bring it on, my heart is as calm as a still lake.
JC: Are you certain about that? Do you want to test it out?
RY: *knees JC in the groin* What are you trying to do to me? In addition to scamming me into marriage and swindling me out of money, you also want to molest me?
JC: You are the swindling molester! That ring is mine, give it back to me! *he grabs her boobs when they are tussling* *continues reading the contract* Wait a minute. After going to the bathroom, must lift up the toilet lid before using the toilet, and then place the lid back in its original position. Cannot enter Lin Xiao Ru’s room without a valid reason. Song Jie Xiu must pay for all household necessities. Cannot yell at Lin Xiao Ru. *turns to RY* Are you finished!?! I only had 10 main rules, and you have 18 special rules (on top of your main rules)?
RY: Are you yelling at me right now?
JC: *fake laugh* Misunderstanding, it’s totally a misunderstanding. I normally talk in such a loud voice.
*RY signs the contract and they shake hands*
Some Taiwan idol dramas are on a live-shoot schedule, whereas some recent ones which are all pre-filmed included Sunny Happiness, Sunshine Angel, Hayate the Combat Butler, and Mei Le, Go. The drama that DTYL will be replacing, Channel X, is also on a live-shoot which allowed it to shut down production for two weeks to completely rewrite the second half of the drama when the first few episodes tanked. I hope this means DTYL will have time to work out any possible kinks and hit the ground running.
I think I’ve seen Joseph Chang somewhere in a drama together with Chen Qiao En in a series with Dao Ming what was that again? JC has this manly I will protect you aura that wanna make you run to him and hug you, I love his punky hairstyle and classic look totally crushed by it. Rainnie so far has improved, finally a mature role love her hair here….awesomness truly! 😉 I like the chemistry so not interested on good looks….we would want the feel of the story don’t we ciao!!!! 😀
Ok sorry it’s Viter Fan not Joseph Chang sowie….hmmm they kinda have the same hair ahihihi 😉
LOL he looks similar to Viter Fan XDD
ROFL when i saw the bathroom scene with the “not suitable for TV” sign hahahaha!!
A must-see for me!!
Looks like a drama I’ll love.
It looks like it’s going to be a fun ride!!
Oh.. it looks fun! just the type of story that I love.. I do hope you are going to recap this koala 🙂
I think it’s sweet that we get two Rainie Yang dramas almost simultaneously. I can’t wait for both.
I love the fact that you’re also incorporating Taiwanese dramas into your blog! Loving it. You got me into Sunny Happiness, and was one of my favorite Dramas.
