Bae Soo Bin and Lee Da Hee Reportedly in talks for K-drama Secret
The upcoming KBS drama Secret has been living up to its name throughout the entire development process. Its existence was barely acknowledged until two weeks ago when it started casting its net publicly for leads, whereas most K-dramas generate chatter on the down low for months prior to even getting into formal production. With only less than 6 weeks left until its slated to take over the time slot currently occupied by The Blade and Petal, this drama really needs to lock down a cast and so far no one is officially confirmed. Ji Sung and Hwang Jung Eum have been courted as the leads and my gut tells me they will sign on unless something drastic happens. But this is a drama about a complicated love square so the second leads will be quite critical to the narrative and can’t be cast with just newbies to stand around filling screen space. The latest murmurings have Bae Soo Bin and Lee Da Hee in talks to complete the main quadrangle. Bae Soo Bin has been off television since 49 Days two years ago and he’s an actor who shines in the right roles with a really slow burn intensity. In some ways he reminds me of Go Soo, except less of a chiseled Adonis in looks. Bae Soo Bin’s career took a big leap after he did Shining Inheritance/Brilliant Legacy back in 2009 but he never quite reached A-list status. But he’s doing well at the movies with two recent ones being 26 Years and Mai Ratima. I don’t know if he will really accept Secret since he’s getting married in September to his long time non-entertainment industry girlfriend and it’s pretty daunting to deal with a wedding and newlywed life while pulling 20 hours days and nights toiling on a live-filmed drama. Lee Da Hee is currently getting lots of great buzz starring in the SBS hit drama I Hear Your Voice and I can see her striking while her star is hot and taking this project which sounds like a girl version of Nice Guy if you ask me. Here’s hoping KBS locks down this cast by the end of this week.
Hi koala, many thanks for your interesting post. Always a pleasure to read about BSB 🙂 The news about his being a possibility for “Secret” took me completely by surprise and for a while I wondered if there was some confusion/misunderstanding as he is also filming (finished filming ?) one episode of “Secret Love” opposite Kang Jiyoung of Kara, and “Secret Love” (a 5-part drama) will be aired on KBS, also in September *takes in deep breath *
Very much hope that he’ll accept the role 🙂
The lucky girl he’s marrying is not his longtime girlfriend (they broke up a few years ago. He met his fiancee several months ago.
That last pic of Ji Sung and Hwang Jung Eum ♥_♥
After their cracktastic CFs, really want them paired in drama.
Why does he always get the 2nd lead? *sigh* . And whaaaa…? He is getting married too? Another one is gone by..and I’m stuck with this young flower boys… *sigh*
Bae Soo Bin = The guy who never gets the girl 🙁
Reminds me of Kingone Wang XD
I think that he has a redemption love line with Lee Da Hee’s character.
I am STILL waiting for Kingone Wang to get the main girl. If anyone knows a drama where he does, please tell me, and I don’t mean the consolation girl (cough, Devil Beside You, cough), but the girl his character wants in the first place.
But he got the guy in Jumong even though they had to split up at the end.
@ daisy. . .lol me too
Whoa! I can barely recognize Lee Da Hee in that photo (and, no, I’m not confusing her with Lee Da Hae). The super skinny arms are what I recognized first– I hope she’s not anorexic. IMO, she was just okay in Birdie Buddy, but I really like her a lot in ICHYV.
I’m picky about my melos– the writing has to be good for me to stick around, so we’ll see.
Am I the only one who has residual love for Bae Soo Bin because of Temptation of an Angel? I know I am not supposed to admit that I LOVED that show, but I did (depsite wanting to throw things as the screen at the end). I am probably the only person on the planet who did not like Shining Inheritance; probably because I thought he so deserved to get the girl and not Lee Seung Gi in all his adorb glory. Looking forward to Bae Soo Bin on screen even if, once again he is the second lead. I like his movie career trajectory, too.
