Part of what prompted this article update on Taiwanese actress-singer Amber An makes me want to smack a netizen, but then also serves as a great reminder to send support when it’s needed. Amber recently attended PR events where she’s looking gloriously svelte, and when asked about her recently slimming down, not a lot but noticeable, she explained that she was spurred to go on an intense diet when a netizen posted on her SNS account that she was “360 degrees without an angle that wasn’t fat.”
The netizen may get points for the creativity of the insult but hot dang was that cruel and unnecessary since it wasn’t related to a role or a music project where her looks could be held up to scrutiny. Not to mention Amber is really really thin by any measure of real life weight valuations, even if she’s got a rounder face that tends to make her look cute rather than angular sexy. I hope Amber is whatever weight makes her happy and she looks beautiful to me in her past and current incarnation.
