Lego Lee Admits to 15-year Relationship with Semi-Famous College Classmate
I still remain impressed that there are ladies out there willing to suffer and endure in silence as their man pursues an entertainment career telling the world he’s single. Most famous being Wu Zun‘s high school sweetheart and wife and James Wen and his nearly 20-year long relationship kept under wraps. That’s quite a lot of trust and stoic silence and we now have a new one to add to the group – TW-actor Lego Lee has finally admitted to dating semi-famous variety show and baseball cheerleader star Gan Wen Lin, the two having started dating in college 15 years ago and have been together ever since. There might be some on-off again breaks and of course Lego has been shipped hard with some of his former costars most notably Lorene (Kirsten) Jen when they did In a Good Way. I’m glad another one of these long standing relationships is out in the open, I always feel like the women end up bitter and mentally drained from being the public side chick.
Good! It has to stop confining lovers into a closet. More well known Celebs admitting or openly dating would help to make it quite normal and less problematic. The agencies need to be more lenient.
Like Wu Chun the rumors with Leego were around for a long time, so it can’t be really a surprise for most people.
I will never understand, why these relationships are treated like a dirty little secret.
I am more impressed he has a 15 yr old relationship. And wow why haven’t they confirmed till now?
I only know of the 3 Taiwanese couples mentioned so totally not statistically significant, but holy smokes Taiwanese couples have enduring power!
This trend is nothing new. HK star Andy Lau started his relationship with his then Malaysian girlfriend in 1986 and registered their marriage in 2008. Andy claimed that it was his wife Carol Chu who didn’t want their relationship and marriage to be made public. She was happy being hidden until her father passed away and Andy had to attend his father-in-law’s funeral in Malaysia where the marriage was outed. Jackie Chan and Alan Tam also hid their wives in the 80s and 90s.
I believe trust plays a big role in these cases.
I guess the wives trust their husband that what they are doing are just jobs — nothing more, nothing less; and the husbands are true to their words. It won’t be a surprise to know that most of the actors’ co-workers are knowledgeable about the existing relationships and simply respect the privacy asked for.
The fact that these couples endured the relationship in privacy is very admirable. Although I am sure that a number of fans are hurt not knowing the truth or the possible or accidental denial (as scripted by the agency/managers) of the actors being on a relationship. But, hey, the actors might simply be protecting their love ones from public eye.
These kinds of revelation are better than whirlwind romances that abruptly end in a not-so-good way.
Good for him and the gf. I’m honestly one of those who wished Lorene and him would date when they did IAGW because of their good chemistry and the casts seem close but I gave up immediately when it was obvious afterwards nothing developed bet the two. I’ve also read the rumour about him having a gf that time.
This isn’t just in Asian countries either. Let’s not forget Janet Jackson was married for 10 years before her relationship with Jermaine Dupri. That said, I’m sure all these couples have their reasons for being secretive.
Not every woman like the hassle that comes from being known. Sometimes its better to get it under wrap without attention from the prying medias and fans. As long as they love each other and know their men enough to trust them, its all that matter.
Totally agree!!
It is not always fun to be under the spotlight. It’ll be like walking on eggshells — always thinking of what to do or how say things…
I think the TW drama industry has declined to a point that no one really cares, so the only reason I can think of is that they probably value their privacy a lot.
