Earlier this summer the Korean box office was semi-revived thanks to loosening social gathering restrictions, movie theaters could open but just block off every other seat. A handful of summer movies then premiered and did well enough in these circumstances, such as Alive, Peninsula, and Steel Rain 2. Sci-fi movie Space Sweepers (Spaceship Victory) was supposed to premiere but pushed it back to September 23rd but now I’m wondering if that’s a good idea because South Korea starting last week just had another COVID spike and places are being shut down again to go back to quarantine. Well there is still another month to go and this week the leads Song Joong Ki, Kim Tae Ri, Yoo Hae Jin, and Jin Seon Kyu attended the press conference to start drumming up interest. I’m totes interested, this drama looks/sounds like a Korean Firefly and stars one of my faves Song Joong Ki who proved with Descendants of the Sun that he could be the dashing captain character with swagger and bravado. Bonus points for Kim Tae Ri as a kickass strong female lead and a great supporting cast, as long as this movie isn’t epically stupid it should at least be entertaining.
