One thing Record of Youth did convey realistically is that K-ent is always primed for the next big thing, and in some ways retaining success is even harder than that serendipitous big break which feels in some way like luck. It’s safe to say K-actor Lee Do Hyun is one of the breakouts of 2020, like last year we had Jang Dong Yoon, and the two young actors actually have similar vibes. Very boyish features but conveys a surprising gravitas onscreen. 18 Again is an ensemble drama through and through and I don’t want to trumpet Lee Do Hyun over his veteran costars who were excellent and we expected it, but he was given his biggest role yet and the results were not a given so his success is all credited to his stepping up. I wish I could rewrite Hotel Del Luna fan fiction and give Man Wol and Chung Myung their happy ending, it still eats at me all thanks to his smirk and the way he called her little sister.
