There is a new poster and preview out for MBC sageuk The Red Sleeve Cuff that will join the other sageuks airing with SBS in Lovers of the Red Sky and KBS with The King’s Affection. It’s so rare these days to have the Big Three all have simultaneously airing sageuks which was more common a decade ago when there were generally more sageuks on screen. The Red Sleeve Cuff chronicles the relationship of King Jeongjo (Lee San) and Sung Uibin so it’s similar to Dong Yi in focusing on the personality and aspirations of a real life royal concubine. The new poster continues the restrained and very subtle romantic connection between leads Junho and Lee Se Young, but you can sense the emotion between them. This drama is based on a novel and the script is adapted by the screenwriter of Ruler: Master of the Mask and Gyebaek.

King Jeongjo and Sung Uibin would be similar to Lee Seojin and Han Jimin from Yisan, not Dong Yi (that would be King Sukjong and Choi Sookbin). Just thought I’d clear that up!! :’D and dang do those names transport me to the 2000s instantly

I think she referenced Dongyi in the post since it is supposed to be female centric. Thus we will follow the female lead’s life/POV and their from court lady to being a consort… vs Yi San which is more focused ML with King Jeongjo’s journey from being the son of prince Sado, to being crown prince and then being King…
I find the pictures and teasers send mixed messages. I was hoping it will be a slow burn romance but the teasers show a lighter story.

So do I.. I like the story and I always please to watch Lee See Young..She is very beautiful in saeguk..Never become fans of Junno..but his military life made him more manly
As a saeguk lover, I am enjoy watching the lover of red sky and also king affection..definitely looking forward also for this one
Yi San is when saeguk gets very very long episodes just like Jumong..hehehe
And when the male lead face is full with moustache and beard..which is very very rare in recent days saeguk
