The currently airing MBC Fri-Sat drama Big Mouth just hit the midway mark of its 16-episode airing with increased ratings and buzz as a much needed success for the network. I don’t have as high a hope for the successor drama Gold Spoon as it’s got three out of the four leads being idols and also a pretty vague set up. Yook Sung Jae plays a poor student who buys a magical gold spoon and trades lives with his rich classmate Lee Jong Won, with the two female leads played by Jung Chae Yeon and Yeonwoo. I actually like the cast and think this idol-actors are quite easy to watch onscreen with no glaring limitations. I just think this drama needs to do more to hook viewers and these first stills and teasers don’t provide any tasty teaser goodies yet.

Gold Spoon teaser:
This type of drama is not a rating magnet.
It’s airing at the same time as One Dollar Lawyer, with Namgoong Min, so it’s definitely an underdog.
