For some reason I thought C-stars Tan Song Yun and Xu Kai have done a drama together before now but alas it was just the usual casting carousel jumble so this upcoming drama will be their first together. It’s called As Beautiful As You (Chinese title You Are More Beautiful than the Starlight) and it’s an start-up company tech industry set romance drama so kinda like Start-up but if the plucky girl got together with the VC head guy. The drama wrapped filming this week which is when I popped into my radar and here are some first posters and pics with Tan Song Yun rocking cute on short layed bob haircut and Xu Kai doing his best successful businessman impression.
I would say the upcoming crop of C-dramas for the next 1-2 years looks good so far, I’ve already have a mental list of the dramas which I’ll give a couple of episodes chance when they air. Tan Songyun is a good actress, I particularly enjoyed her previous drama with Wang Kai, Flight To You. And here she’s paired up with another Kai (Xu Kai) LOL.
Tan Songyun is an amazing top-notch actress, not like doll-faced c class she portrays every role as outstanding and genuinely reaching the audiences. I have become so selective since watching her dramas.
Ha ha his best impression. God, I find Xu Kai pretty likable and of course very handsome, but that still of him with the glasses does look as if he’s cosplaying.
To be honest, I’m indifferent to Xu Kai’s dramas regardless of his costars. I tried to watch several of his popular dramas that all had popular Female leads with decent acting resumes. I dropped them all. He looked all the same. I felt that I was watching the same guy in each drama, i.e. actor Xu Kai, not the heroes in the stories. LOL. He’s boring to watch.
Perhaps this one with TSY would be an exception? LOL
I’m not sure about his xianxia dramas but his roles in She and Her Perfect Husband, and in Arsenal Military Academy are vastly different. And very memorable too.

Adore her. She appears to effortlessly complement his stature with a pair of platforms.
I like both of them. I don’t watch fantasy cdramas, so I’m happy he’s a modern one. I’m still waiting for him to get a role as good as Arsenal Military Academy. He’s shinning more in this kind of role than the cold usual ones.
My issue with TSY is her intimate scenes, they always look weird. It’s frustrating because she’s good to build chemistry with hercostars.
She is very bad in anything that revolves around intimacy so she tends to push me out of the story. If it didn’t work with JBR it is not going to work with XK. It is a pity because outside of that I enjoy her acting.
Well, to be fair, Jing Boran is known as no chemistry co-star on weibo. All his past movies and dramas have very little chemistry with his co-stars despite he is a good actor. And the fact that during Road Home filming, Jing Boran’s dating scandal trending on weibo hot searches because he was caught hugging his model girlfriend in public area. It was literally happening during Road Home filming.
I wouldnt put all the problem on Tan Songyun when she is deemed as chemistry actress with her acting in Under the Power and With You 2016. Her dramas after that are not romance, mostly slowburn or slice of life, but she still has great chemistry with her same age, younger, older, co-stars. She was literally acting with younger, older, and same age actor and she is matching them, and the only one she has less chemistry is Jing Boran who is deemed as lack chemistry co-star on weibo, and who has public dating relationship during Road Home filming.
