Grown Up Child Actor Nam Da Reum Readies for Military Discharge in August 2023
Grown up child actor Yeo Jin Gu came of age with his two Kim costars Kim So Hyun and Kim Yoo Jung and together the three made the transition to adulthood and their careers seamlessly. I didn’t expect to see the next Yeo Jin Gu that fast but right behind him is Nam Da Reum who is actually finishing up his military service in August 2023 so about 6 weeks away. Nam Da Reum is returning a 21 year old (23 in Korean age) and also having around 3 dozen K-dramas under his belt but none as an adult before he enlisted so it’ll be interesting to see what project(s) he picks after resuming his talented and bright acting career playing roles beyond teen, young son, and student.
He looks so handsome. Looks and acting chops checked. Goodluck! May he go places and character not get corrupted.
I was so looking forward to his return to KDramaland leading to a possible reunion with Kim Sae Ron in another season of ‘The Great Shaman Ga Doo Shim’. That probably wont happen now. I hope he’ll get some leading roles coming up; he’s more than earned them. A vehicle just for him would be great. I definitely could’ve seen him in something like ‘Weak Class Hero’. As far as pairings go, I think he would be amazing with either Jung Ji So (The Glory, Doom At Your Service) or Kim So Hyun in a serious drama. I can also see him with Kim Yoo Jung in a rom com or fun supernatural sageuk drama. But if Arthdal Chronicles crew gets back to their former Tree With Deep Roots/Six Flying Dragons glory, I hope they reunite with him and give him a lead role. He was amazing in Six Flying Dragons.

Just to clarify that as of this month of June, “Korean age has been abolished” and is no longer allowed on official documents. Only the standardised, internationally recognised method will remain.
Yoo Sang-bum of the ruling People Power Party told parliament that “the revision is aimed at reducing unnecessary socio-economic costs, because legal and social disputes as well as confusion persist due to the different ways of calculating age”.
He’s long been one of my favorite actors. So gifted, plus of course he has so much experience and has worked hard. It feels like his military service has lasted for years and years! I hope the good scripts are all lining up for him, because the world is ready for Nam Da Reum to make his appearance as main lead in a full length drama!
