So this is to be expected somewhat but is rather pointless and annoying to see happen. C-drama Lost You Forever has become summer 2023’s hottest drama and there is much love to go around, great characters and acting from all four leads and a thoughtful adaptation with well paced execution. Novel writer Tong Hua is part of the production team and adapted her own novel so it’s what netizens called Birth Mom Adaptation. So what we see onscreen came from Tong Hua herself include any added or deleted scenes. Week 2 of the airing has seen the start of internal negativity and complaints – namely fans of Jing and fans of Deng Wei who plays Jing are complaining loudly that there are details of Jing scenes from the novel changed and his male lead aura has been diminished while at the same time there are a lot of Tan Jian Ci played Xiang Liu scenes added all increasing his male lead aura because it shows how much he cares about female lead Xiao Yao which in the novel are alluded to but not explicitly stated. During the novel period, the C-readers shipping was probably 60% Xiang Liu-30% Jing-10% Cang Xuan/Zhuan Xu based on my not so scientific observation lol but I was there to see it. I would say drama shipping is probably 50%-50% Xiang Liu-Jing so far so I’m not sure why Deng Wei and Jing fans are upset.
With Birth Mom adding all those Xiang Liu scenes, clearly Tong Hua wants to flesh him out more and of course I am good with since more Nine-headed Demon more love haha. Major added scenes include Xiang Liu getting medicine for Xiao Yao after he injured her, him trying to take her with him when Jing is coming but can’t since he’s injured, him going to check on Xiao Liu in Hui Chun Clinic after the injury, him going to learn about the Lover’s Bug and the voiceover about it requiring not just his life but also his heart, him trying to save Xiao Yao as well when she’s taken back to Hao Ling/Gao Xing but is late, him feeling her hand pain when she’s being hit and wanting to go save her but can’t leave the army during the provisions shortage, him turning into a demon girl to take her on the boat ride and cheer her up, him listening to the storyteller about the return of Princess and then getting upset he was lied to. Okay, haha Birth Mom did add a lot of my bae but still it is frustrating to see infighting and hopefully this dies down.

I wonder why Tong Hua cut so many Jing scenes. It will make the ending jarring to TV viewers.
Dare I ask who is the ultimate ML? I mean, who is she supposed to end with? Just to know whether all this has any meaning, other than preferring the visuals of one actor over the other's. If of course she's ending with someone, after all she doesn't need to, I guess.
Maybe that’s why the title is “Lost you forever”. Maybe in Tong Hua’s mind, XL is the main lead? And who says ML has to end up with ML. Just look at Titanic.
He is the main lead it is CX losing XY while XY loses Xiang Liu. He is in the introduction of the book. XL parallels QI YO XY's biological father
I'm enjoying XL's scenes and dreading the ending. The novel made me sad.. I kinda wish the drama adaptation will change it Abit. Since it's going to be split to 2 seasons, maybe it will end s1 with a happy end for XL... I will then need to stop at S1 so I don't get broken hearted. Haha.
In the novel, jing got the girl
I didn't read the novel but i am peeping who get the girl, becoz I don't want to sad shipping beautiful but not destined CP, even though I experienced sad ending for the CP sometimes more memorable than main CP. That's why since beginning I have determined to be Jing shipper although I understand that many of book fans prefer Xiang Liu and I am not big fans of Deng Wei as an actor too. But after watching the episodes, as Jing-XY, I am quite happy shipping them. Jing-XY has quite a lot memorable moments and the scenes can make butterfly in my stomach. Deng Wei as a new actor also can deliver the role nicely. And as far I know, Jing is 2ML not the 1ML, so his screen time is already satisfied me. Moreover, I also enjoy XL of FBB scenes and not envy of the beautiful scene XL get becoz the writer herself already said that XL is her favorite character ( I think more layered and deep character in drama land is more favorite character compare to nice and caring guy) . All of the actor has give their best work, so we as viewer should sit, relax and enjoy the beautiful performance.
same, I prefer to ship Jing-xy as Jing is more husband material. For me, XL does not deserve her, still sour about how he treats Xy in the earlier episodes.
@ vlive
I agree with you 100%. I vote for XY & TSJ all the way.
I think a lot of people are upset because it would make the ending questionable if a lot of his scenes were cut. Also, some of the scenes displaying his intelligence were also cut. People would have a harder time accepting that he’s truly end game. I do like Jing a lot but I also understand people’s sentiments. He does seem like side thought for Xiao Yao a lot of times. Well, even in the novel, she chose him because she couldn’t be with XL. Idk why the author chose to make him the weakest choice for her and have them end up together.
It could be that she may changed the ending and have her end up with XL?
Someone’s comment on YouTube is probably accurate about XL… that he is actually XY’s soulmate… but they just can’t be in this lifetime due to his circumstances and her heart’s desire. WAH!!! Hahahah. Omgush, I’ve been feeling too down, watching this story unfold and knowing I’ve felt such familiar feelings to each character. Lol. I think I have to wait for more of it air so I can just fast forward. HAHA
If the scrip keeps to the novel ending, then all this extra love for Xiang Liu is aiming a higher high midway, and a deeper low at the ending. Realise this and prepare your tissues and rehydration kits!
thumbs up more XL screenings! if drama follows novel ending, the extra screenings are compensation from author! poor XL🥺
BTW regardless novel or drama TSJ is least of my favourite pairing
It's understandable why the fans would be mad because these are scenes from the novels that were cut and what shape Jing's character if you've never read the book. It's not a problem that XL gets more screen time which he can, but why the need to cut Jing's scenes?
