I don’t know if it’s because the Yoo Ah In drug scandal earlier this year was soooooo wild in how much drugs he was using, but it feels like the current Lee Seon Kyun drug scandal has fans just exhausted, ready to write him off but no longer shocked beyond belief. Now the fall out is happening and it starts with him proactively dropping out of the movie No Way Out, which was slated to start filming a week ago but Lee Seon Kyun missed it due to being investigated. But he has a completed movie Project: Silence with Joo Ji Hoon and Kim Hee Won which premiered in May during Cannes Film Festival 2023 but now has the release date back in the air due to this situation. And finally Lee Seon Kyun and his famous actress wife Jeon Hye Jin have been popular couple spokespersons for various brands and CF campaigns over the years due to their family friendly image and now the brands are reportedly cutting ties with them for the couple’s campaigns and ending the endorsements.

Why does his scandal have to affect his wife too, I just don't get it, I know they r family but he is the one who committed the crime, can't they deal with him personally n not involve the rest of his immediate family.
Well...they're in the CF together lol. Otherwise I agree with you and hope the media will give Jeon Hye Jin space.
Let's just say that Song Kang is no way near LSK and leave it at that! 😄
@Nena I think the other commenter meant Song Kang Ho, not Song Kang 😂
If not, then she's kinda delusional because yes, Song Kang is definitely not an A-list movie star lmao
If it's a family endorsement, his face is going to be in it. From an advertising standpoint, it would be weird to just have the wife endorse a household product when everyone knows her husband.
Apart from those CFs, I just really hope Jeon Hye-jin's career and reputation won't be affected.
I think the commenter meant Song Kang Ho 😂
If not, then yikes lmao
Sorry, this was supposed to be a reply to @Nena lol
Very unfortunate. I really liked him in my mister and Parasite. Btw is he a big movie star in Korea? As in someone like Lee byung hun and Song Kang?
Not really. He's famouse and has been in critically acclaimed movies but not exactly a box-office draw or awards darling on his own like LBH and SKH.
Besides these two who are the other actors who has box office draws?
There are afew... like Ryu Seung Ryong, Hwang Jung-min, Sol Kyung Gu, Ha Jung Woo, Lee Jung Jae, Choi Min Shik, Ma Dong‑seok. They do fill the cinemas. I would say afew are bettter actors then Lee Byun Hun.
Going to get hate for this but... he was smoking marijuana and having an affair and Knetz are acting like he murdered someone. I don't condone cheating on one's spouse but I also don't think that people should be punished publicly for it by a bunch of holier than thou puritans. I hope he has someone to talk to during this time and that he works to make amends as best as he can to his family.
I will NEVER be a member of one of those faceless Internet mobs baying for blood. Suicide is a very real problem in SK. They never learn.
No hate from me! Is this what it is all about? Marijuana?
he did METH lol
@potato
There is no official source suggesting that he took harder drugs like meth, heroin, etc
I would wait for the official details.
If it’s like that, I would say the cheating is worse than smoking weed smh. Especially since he always potray himself as family man
Agreed. I am vehemently against mormalizing substance use in the West and the excessive drinking of alcohol that is pervasive in so many East Asian countries, but I and many rational people know mental health and societal pressures exist which can pull you down the wrong road. But the alleged cheating? Ware? Did someone force a gun to his head and make him penetrate another woman? If it's true, what a shame
@omonaijaJ
That's between him and his spouse and not for the public to judge. Adultery is not a crime unless you'd like to support public stoning - let he who is without sins cast the first stone.
Image is everything as an actor and it's perfectly fine for him to lose work once this image has been affected... but people really do need to get a sense of proportion. Meanwhile, if this were a female celebrity, this blog would be tripping over itself to make excuses.
I'm not even a fan of Lee Sun Kyun. I just don't want to see yet another person cast away by an East Asian society as 'trash' who can be rehabilitated.
It's gonna take a lot for him to make amends to his family after he was revealed to be regularly visiting a brothel and taking drugs at the home of the brothel madame. That's not some one off cheating or casual drug use.
So he is just dirty but not evil? That sums him up for you.
@Rina
Respectfully, please apply some common sense. You are on a gossip blog...yet you're quoting a Bible verse about "judging" and "casting the first stone?" Huh? Also, how is fair commentary on adultery "judging"? Even so, let's not bring up other comments you have on this site. I might be a sleeper viewer of Koala's blog but I've seen enough commenters and usernames. That aside, I reserve the right to be disgusted by a man - who, as I said, ALLEGEDLY - abuses his privilege and goes to brothels and prostitution all while having a wife and 2 pre-teen sons. Either way, I don't even care about celebrities like that. ( ̄▽ ̄) If you cannot stomach someone judging that, kudos I guess!

He also has a film with Jo Jung Suk, which has finished filming and now it pre-production. Not sure about the budget, but with his name alone before I’d think his films are big budget.
Thankfully, this isn't mainland China. I doubt his movies will be cancelled. Korea likes the audiences to speak for themselves, so if there are audiences still interested in his movies, they will watch it for the other actors and the movie still has the potential to make money.
What would most likely be affected is his future earning capacity and finding future work. But if he cleans up his act, serves whatever jail time required, he can still make a comeback. After all Joon Ji Hoon was a known addict, but he cleaned up and stayed sober. He's able to act in both movies and dramas now. And the movie world has always been more forgiving than dramaland.
Everything would hinge on how fast the legal resolution of his drug charges (I think he is betting that his drug test would be minimized) and his familial status considering the cheating, etc. I do have a pessimistic outlook on the release of his films, taking into the time it takes to wrap up legal proceedings + reflection or hiatus. And take into account that his roles in most of these films are upright characters - father and soldier, which would be a big disconnect.

Netizens can now just assume that despite all the squeaky images, you can say that there will be more than a handful or two who are going to cheat and do drugs - just like guys in real life. People who sell drugs and prostitutes probably have a portfolio of rich people they want to woo into clients, like some marketing firm putting hours into presentations and research in order to successfully land an account with a top company.
I think the netizens care more about the affair than the drugs. The drugs part is pretty tame compared with what went on with Yoo Ah-in. LSK had that family image. His wife is a respected actress in the industry, so it's like he victimized his wife and then used her to prop up his image. And he has kids. And the affair isn't just an affair with like a barista you happen to fall in love with or a production assistant. The partner is a prostitute at a high end brothel, which has even more stigma. And also reeks of privilege.
Anyways, I hope Jeon Hye-jin has her own separate finances. And I hope LSK's drug problem isn't as dire as Yoo Ah-in, whom I'm surprised is still alive after that worrying amount of drugs.
Ikr, YAI is entirely screwed up. How sad it is celebrities still did not learn lessons. Doping is nothing fun to even try to begin with. Depression or stress shouldn't be a legit excuse to take any slight risk on substance abuse.
I wonder if there's been an established drug dealing network inside K-ent. Perhaps the net is too powerful to tackle down?
I do feel sympathy for YAI. Depression is something that can make someone want to kill themselves. And I've never had debilitating insomnia. Being in a cut-throat industry in a competitive society that values conforming and already has a high suicide rate also makes things worse. Wish there were better systems in place to prevent someone like YAI from spiraling out.
Every entertainment industry's got a seedy side that is protected by the rich and powerful. We've seen this with Burning Sun and the case of Jang Ja-yeon's suicide.
I feel so sorry for YAI. He's a talented actor. People oftentimes did not get right advice for dealing with stress. There're plenty of healthy ways to get ourselves wind down and get good rest. I'm also working in a cut-throat profession and know how insomnia is like. I have a relative working in the semiconductor industry in Taiwan and it's prevalent for IC engineers to have insomnia. Doctors suggest them taking Vitamin B and it was reportedly working for them to sleep better. I've been taking Vitamin B since I heard about their stories from my relative and it works on me too. Also workout and walking during daytime help sleep better. Watching too much drama before bedtime would do the opposite though. LOL
It's a bit mind boggling to me why ppl would try illicit substance. It's as if they did not know the huge risk to their health and even life.
In relation to Lee Sun Kyun, the video of the shaman predicting accurately what is happening now to Lee Sun Kyun is a hot topic. Amongst the Parasite actors, the shaman saw handcuffs, injections (and she was referring to drugs), and the month of October for him.
Oh, how interesting..Is Shaman still used alot in SK?
Aside mental health issues ( depression, burn out,...) i don't understand why celebrities never learn . There are no such thing as secrets in entertainment industry . When one is suffering he may be tempted to use anything to relieve the pain , otherwise i have no explanation other than being stupid .He lives in Korea not in France ! Even Bill Clinton, Donald Trump couldn't hide the extramarital affairs . Legendar French actor Gerard Depardieu is being investigated for many sexual assault . Skeletons don't stay in the closet forever .
I was a fan of Gerard Depardieu but when I read about the sexual assault, I was so disgusted. But in France, having affairs are very common. Just dont bring the lover home. And dont let the other spouse know. It applies to both genders...
The "No Way Out" producers must be relieved in a way that this came out now rather than a few months later. It's a nuisance now but it's cheaper and easier to fix now than further down the line.
What is wrong with men like him? Nearly 50 year world and lucky to have an amazing wife, two sons and successful career. Using the family man card to his advantage, even had his sons at a Cannes film premiere a few months ago so their faces were exposed. Meanwhile he is a VIP brothel member consorting with prostitutes and getting high. No care or consideration for his poor wife or his children at all. Their sons are 12 and 13 too so old enough to be aware of what is going on.
Jeon Hye Jin is well-respected and successful in her own right but this will impact her too. If she doesn't divorce him or at least have her own separate assets this is going to destroy both their finances. He has already wasted a quarter of a million trying to hush his scandal, jobs lost, paying for lawyers, CFs cancelled, compensation fees. All because another married man couldn't keep his you know what in his pants.
His camp denied the article theorizing that Jeon Hyejin sold a property at a loss to pay for the blackmail money. Just not too confident about their denial, as it makes me think it is related to him. I just really hope they have separate finances, as his will be wiped out with all the compensation fees considering most of his completed films have big budgets.
There is a neurological disorder, which causes the reversal of personality in middle age men. That's why many successful, seemingly upright and happily married men suddenly go wild in 40s and 50s. This case is extremely shocking for me because in earlier scandals the culprits atleast display some hints of deviance in thoughts/body language/actions/health etc. but Lee Sun Kyun always came across as an extremely normal man-next-door who would know how to keep out of the way of the trouble.
The term Mid Life crisis is not just pulled randomly. I am sure reseach have been done by many parties to states this behavior change in middle age men does happen but it is just how if affects them, their family and society. The richer ones goes wilder, those with budget turns to other interest. Not excusing the actions...but there seem to be a common pattern of behaviours with many middle aged men...Not all, I have to stress.
@HL Mid-life crisis is not a joke as many people assume. Human brain can acquire weird disorders from seemingly innocent sources, like exposure to cat poop can make some people permanently cranky. Strange behavioural changes needs to be monitored/treated as soon as possible. It would save breakdown of otherwise healthy family. But we are living in the world where people fail to get help even for drug/alcohol addiction.
LSK needs to payback for all of his crimes. Although, I don't think his family's pain would ever be eradicated.
I agree, his family suffers the most...His kids may even face being teased or bullied. so unfair for them.
They will experience all of downsides of having a famous father. I only hope that they'll eventually learn to cope in healthy way.
@Nena 😂 I meant Song Kang ho only lol.
Ha ha, that explains a lot! (I was wondering ...🤣🤣🤣)
