C-actress Dilraba Dilmurat has earned her spot on the top of the food chain in her generation so even an off year like 2023 feels like it will have no impact on her popularity or marketability. But this year really has been meh for her projects with The Legend of Anle compared to 2022 when she had The Blue Whisper and in 2021 with You are My Glory and The Long Balled. She’s on the cover in the pages of Grazia China November 2023 edition in a butterfly themed pictorial that goes with the strong colors of red-black-white. Reportedly Dilraba has been saying in interviews recently that she really wants to go on a study abroad with a work sabbatical and the production team of her variety drama Divas Hit the Road has noticed that she seems withdrawn and exhausted during the filming, putting on a brave energetic performance when the cameras are rolling and then retreating after to battery charge. She’s done so much to build her own career I hope she’s not burnt out.
Unfortunately she is nearing the age where she is going to have to start switching over to serious dramas. This happens to both men and women, except women have a shorter time window.
Problem with Dilraba is that she can’t act well enough for that so switching over to that type of serious acting, like Zhao Liying is doing right now, is not a real possibility. She will keep trying but lbr, the skills are not there.
Take a sabbatical and get some classes is my advice because otherwise she is simply going to slowly fade away.

Yes, she is. There are several people in this predicament, both men and women.
Yang Mi seems to have gotten a supporting role in the next Zhang Ziyi movie which says a lot how difficult it is for her when she is going down to support roles. But it’s still better than nothing, provided it is true.
Out of all the women around that age, only ZLY seems to be succeeding right now and it’s not easy even for her.
Men usually do fine until about 35 but at that point they too have to start looking and right now, several who international fans think are big stars, are actually beginning to feel the heat.
She deserves a break. Divas Hit The Road may be travelling overseas, but it’s still work. And famous celebrities like her can only really relax herself while overseas as there is lower possibility of people following her around.
I like Raba, I find her a beautiful yet a sweet, innocent young woman. I know she is packaged as a Queen and also looking so glam. She can carry the look too. But I really feel she is actually a very down to earth, non complex woman. I feel even if she does not get lead roles, she will happily play support roles well. I truly feel, the pressure of leading lady forces her to grow and adapt the image. I would not say she is terrible enjoying that pressure. I am fond of her early roles where one can see the more relaxed her. I dont watch her current dramas as I dont see a happy and relaxed Raba.
I personally feel, if she did not have so much investments put into her image, she will be happier and just doing what she enjoys without all the stress. I also feel some of her fandom really do not understand what truly suits her…
I wish only the best for her. I agree, she seems like a lovely, quiet person with a sweet personality. And I feel for her, she just needs a break, surely it can’t be too hard for her to just take a sabbatical? But I imagine all the photoshoots, dramas, promotions and variety shows must be burdensome and tedious. And probably hard to get out from. People crack under continuous pressure if they’re not well rested, so for her sake, I hope her agency can give her a break.
In Divas Hit the road she was sick and feverish. Imagine being unwell and tired flying that far. Shes mentioned several times she has a shy nature, not wanting to impose on others and scared she would infect others too. Its rather unfortunate that she isnt feeling her best when filing this reality show.
She isnt that good an actress but I feel shes a genuine and down to earth person. Hope she finds the right path for herself.
@HL: I agree with your description of DD. She seems like a lowkey, sweet person who would prefer to step out of the spotlight, take a break, work much less. She doesn’t seem like the type of person who craves attention or needs to be front and centre all the time.
Unfortunately, she has reached a level where there are many pressures and lot of money riding on her with so many companies, colleagues, shows, even the government with expectations of her. She is still undeniably gorgeous but you can see how a light seems to have gone out of her over the last few years compared to the enthusiasm and lightness when she first broke out. She seems tired and going through the motions now and it shows in a lot of her recent performances.
I also wonder about the impact on her conscience and mentality as a person of Uyghur descent being a poster girl for a country that is systematically persecuting and erasing the Uyghur culture. She is held up a example of the ultimate Chinese beauty with looks that came from her Uyghur ethnicity but at the same time she cannot publicly celebrate or identify with her culture. She toes the party line and says whatever the Party tell her to say like a good little citizen. Or maybe I overthink and she doesn’t care about those things?
@Sunny, You brought up a good point, she is the poster girl of Uyghur. Many may not realised just how much stress that is put on her. China gov wants to been seen being supportive of Uyghurs and she is their political tool. She cannot pull out and do her own thing easily.
A simple action of covering her chest when she is in outfits that may expose more then she is comfortable really shows her reservations. She has to wear clothes sponsored for her by her company. She is a model and artiste. She will do her job to look good. But she too like to keep her basic self respect in accordance to her Uyghur culture.
Some of her fandom may aggressively fighting battles against other fandoms on her behalf, which frankly, I feel she rather they do not. Raba is not one that enjoys that sort of attention.
I like Raba as a person…but I dont enjoy watching her dramas. But watching her relaxed in some variety shows is quite enjoyable.

Hope she gets the rest she needs and doesn’t get burnt out. She’s so beautiful but I love that she genuinely doesn’t seem thirsty for attention. Love her low-key personality.
