Watching wuxia C-drama A Journey to Love gave me lots of rewards aside from solid entertainment. The discovery of fresh faces (to me) was the best as it means more stars to keep an eye on and check out their future works. He Lan Dou playing Princess Yang Ying was my favorite among the youngest members of supporting cast, which includes Chang Hua Sen as Li Tong Guang and Chen You Wei as Yuan Lu. She’s already lined up her next project the youth C-drama West Side Boys starring Zhou Yi Ran and Hu Lian Xin, so all age similar and talented. Zhou Yi Ran was a genuine breakout this year thanks to When I Fly Towards You and a lot of eyes are on his next projects so a great pick for He Lan Dou.

I’ve never been the one for youth or school drama even when I was still at school. I’ve never been able to finish any hit youth dramas including The Heirs (both Taiwanese and Korean versions) and Kdrama Reply series. These youth dramas appear frivolous or groaning for nothing. I only managed to finish two youth dramas in ALL my life while skipping and fast forwarding a quite a few scenes; they were Lighter & Princess and Hidden Love. I watched these two youth dramas mainly the acting was impressive. Nonetheless the plots were still shallow.
I might check out the drama if the FL were He Lan Dou given that I think Zhou Yi Ran also have acting talent. But Chen You Wei WHO? LOL

I found that she was quite good in Youth (the Chinese remake of kdrama Hello My Twenties) and My Best Summer with Chen Fei Yu. I’m going to make sure to check this out when it starts airing.
