Penultimate Weekend of Queen of Tears Reaches 21.625% Ratings as a Life Saving Medical Procedure Sends the OTP into a Final Test of Their Love

It’s the second to last weekend airing of tvN hit drama Queen of Tears and I’m so not ready to let go. It’s like we viewers are parallel living the nostalgia and amazing experience of watching this drama along with in-drama female lead Hae In trying to keep her memories of her love and marriage to husband Hyun Woo. What is an experience if there is no memory of it? But even without memory loss we saw Hae In and Hyun Woo fall into cold indifference the first time around despite all those cuter than cute fall in love moments that led to their marriage. So love isn’t enough, but love with loss is what this drama is trying to show should be enough. It’s what makes one fight for things through difficulty and obstacles, and we see it with so many characters and non moreso than our leads. This weekend’s episodes 13-14 could be considered slow for some, it’s really all Hyun Woo and Hae In living in marital bliss and understanding the terms of this second chance. I loved it and even love having dipshit Eun Seong and his psycho mom Camilla still trying to wreak havoc, because we do need a little more adversity for the well-earned payoff to come next week in the finale.

Penultimate Weekend of Queen of Tears Reaches 21.625% Ratings as a Life Saving Medical Procedure Sends the OTP into a Final Test of Their Love — 59 Comments

  1. This drama is crazy. It does not make any sense. But you just can’t look away. Waiting dor the next episode, watching bts, previews is what I do the entire week.

    • this is what all QoT fans does i think..and 21% ..is that mean around 12 Million South Korean peoples watching this drama live?..damn!!

    • What doesn’t make sense? Even in the reddit episode discussion, there are comments that x thing and y thing don’t make sense and then you have other watchers saying that it was clearly explained in the drama itself, even if not everything is spelled out (like why YES is obsessed with HHI, which is quite easy to understand). Why don’t people bother to actually pay attention to what they are watching?

  2. Kim
    Soo
    Hyun

Take a bow and then another few. What. A. Performance. I felt like I was right there in that car crash scene. Right smack in the middle watching him turn from a state of pure panic to disbelief and eventually to literal knee bending relief. Imo, this is the best character KSH has played with a performance for the ages, in a drama of a lifetime. Don’t care what others say about the writer because all I see is a character I’ll never ever forget. Thank you for writing someone like Baek Hyun Woo!

Eun Seong that piece of trash bastard. That turd of a monster. That crack headed leech. His delulu ass needs to be burned. I was *this close* to physically reaching out to my tv and wiping that slimey little smirk off his face when Hyun Woo was being carried away. Park Sung Hoon is particularly skilled at making people murderous (even if I admit I find him utterly sexy and psychopathic tendencies aside, an eye Candy. Sue me). Hae In knows he isn’t the person she can’t remember but also can’t forget. She is too smart to let herself be played so I am not too too worried about her. And Yoon Eun Seong, may you live your life and the next however many lives in miserable pain.

    • Hahaha this comment is so funny I laughed out loud literally. Hating Eunseong is half fun, half rage inducing. He isnt even smart, he just has resource to get him what he wants. He probably even paid the German hospital to be allowed to be her guardian or smth.

IMO, PSH does villains so much better than heroes but since he wants to be a hero soon, I hope he gets back to being one.

And hope Haein clues in quickly in eps 15. Hyunwoo will need to save himself first before he can get to her. The preview shows her meeting her family in the airport with Eunseong. How? They will tell her the truth? Ah, I really want to know!!!

  3. The romance between the Otp is so angsty and epic that I feel I could pull a Hw and break a car glass window if it doesn’t end well 😂

Ksh and Kjw is proving their worth in every single scene. Hw breakdown after sending off Hi was utterly heartbreaking stuff. The feeling of goosebumps is fr. Ksh the actor you are!

    • honestly this is the most epic OTP of the last few YEARS if you ask me, just a golden combination of characters+actors, and perfectly matched actors at that.

KSH and KJW were both always good actors from very early in their respective careers, but together it’s like they enhance each other’s powers, just incredible.

  4. I thought YFAS was it. The love story that transcends all love stories for me. A love so grand it will always remain #1. But PJE said hold your horses LOL. I’m not saying QOT is getting that #1 spot. I’m saying I can’t believe anything even came close to it. KJW has turned me into a new fan. Her chemistry with her costars amazing. As for KSH – well. I feel like after ep14, if someone disputes just how brilliant an actor he is and how legendary this performance has been, then my reaction would just be to laugh. Because frankly, that person either hasn’t seen the drama, or is plain lying. Plain and simple.

I think the love Hyun-woo and Hae-in shares is one of the truest and most touching type of love I’ve seen in a kdrama. KSH said while reading the script he thought “can someone love this much?” He wasn’t bluffing. I am so invested in this couple because this is one of the most powerful love stories I’ve seen. There is no fantasy elements, nothing even so grand. It’s just two flawed humans who lost their way at some point, but never lost their love for each other. It’s epic in a completely believable way. There’s definitely no Do Min-joon, or Kim Shin or Eun-tak in and around my life LOL. But I might know of a Baek Hyun-woo somewhere who loves his wife to this extent. And I may also know a Hong Hae-in who was willing to give up everything she values for her husband. We always hear the word “die for each other” often, and that sounds pretty easy to do. But these two chose to live instead and there just is nothing more touching and romantic and epic than that.

  5. The writing is a mess and makes no sense. Such a waste of the talented casts and directors. Still gonna speed through the last 2 episodes for the actors but safe to say I’d rather not touched any work of this writer in the future.

    • I liked some of the writer’s past works. But QoT is the worst IMO. Her past works did showcase creative writing that’s worth discussions in classrooms. QoT? Creative writing my as$. LOL. An ensemble of all outdated elements from Kdrama Makjang !!!! Snoozefest up to ep 6 that I had trouble moving beyond. LOL.

  6. ahahaha I’m obsessed, yeah the episodes are long but somehow when they’re focused on our couple+family they don’t feel like it? Even the villains are fun to swear at (and they better get their comeuppance next week, jail for Camilla and her snake son please!). For that, I will forgive some nonsense like – how is the snake even allowed to be in Haein’s hospital room when he’s not her husband or legally related to her??!! Going ‘yeah I’ll be her guardian instead’ after having her husband falsely arrested – seriously?? They even made a point of the Korean doctor in ep 9 refusing to tell him anything about her illness because he wasn’t family or a guardian but the German hospital just lets him chill in her hospital room like that??!

It’s been years since we had a proper Hallyu drama done well with all the tropes and that ‘classic kdrama’ feel (you guys know what I’m talking about, right?), not since Crash Landing on You in fact. Ever since the MBC/SBS/KBS weekday drama slots died I’ve been missing that kind of drama, I find Netflix original kdramas mostly either too glossy and flat/lacking soul, or far too violent (Kingdom, Squid Game). It’s nice to have a drama that feels like the kind of kdramas I first fell in love with, do so well. QoT deserves it!

  7. URGHHH the level of pure loathe I feel for Eun-sung is not healthy… I really believe my blood pressure goes through the roof when he gets any sort of win against Hyun-woo…

On the flip side, I love seeing sexy snu lawyer showing this mf once and for all who Hae-in belongs to… The fight back better be epic since I am tearing my hair out in anxiousness for next Sunday…

    • @Cessy1 – I want to throw rotten tomatoes at the screen whenever that snake appears lol, PSH makes it so he’s fun to hate and even more fun when when he gets his *** handed to him by Hyunwoo (I cheered when his fist met ES’s face) or Haein (who is not having any of him even with a brain tumour or brain damage, imagine doing all that just to be told the sight of you causes her to lose her appetite, she’s indifferent to the childhood sob story too and she chooses Baek Hyunwoo every single time). Jail for that mf!

    • He’s like the most unhinged villian ever. That being said I feel sorry for the actor idiots don’t know how to differentiate character from actor and the poor guys ig is being flooded with hate comments.

      • Are you for real?! Oh no Park Sung Hoon!

I hate kdrama fans so much sometimes. They are so freakin unhinged. Shippers are already bad, but sending hate messages to an actor doing his damn job is disgusting. Ughhh. Poor PSH, he is such a sweetheart in real life too. I hope he doesn’t bother reading any of them. This made me more angry than what Eun Seong did lol

      • @Butterfly it’s not just kdrama fans, you know Stranger Things? The CHILD ACTORS playing bullies in that show got hate comments because of the roles they played! Some people are idiots and shouldn’t have internet access if they lack the basic skills to tell the difference between actor and character.

It’s not new to kdramas either, I remember the same thing happening to Na Young Hee after The Producers (hate comments because she played a character)

      • @Royal We

I can see why some actors like to keep it to themselves for the most part. It is “fans” this level on insane that ruins the fandom experience as a whole. Kpop I expect because teenagers can be deranged. But kdrama fans stooping this low is plain nasty and surprising. You’d think a majority of them is in the 20/30s range. I was so frustrated with shippers last week in the actor posts on Instagram. But I’ll take delusional idiots over verbally abusive morons any day.

I just hope PSH and those child actors can take heart in the fact that they did their jobs so well that it seemed real to these nut jobs. It doesn’t make up for the abuse, but at least it’s a small thing.

      • @Butterfly, shippers are harmless, it just shows how amazing the chemistry is between the actors that people want them to be a couple in real life. What’s funnier is I see a tonne of male shippers for this couple, not sure if that’s normal since I don’t follow news about other couples.

      • @Guest

Shippers are harmless for the most part if they keep to themselves. But spamming an actor’s instagram and/or official sites demanding for real people with real emotions to date like they are some characters in a drama, which then turns to bashing of other costars they get paired with. That’s seriously not okay. I’m sure they are professionals and know this is a part and parcel of their jobs. But I find the lack of respect for the humans behind the characters they play pretty disgusting.

But yes, I do find it rather amusing that this drama has a lot of male fans. That’s very out of the norm to be sure.

  8. I love this drama so much it has become an obsession, Otp and second otp both shredding hearts
Please don’t end! But if you have to, please give us more amazing OTP scenes. Cute ones ofc but angsty are even better since I like my heart being pulled out and slammed the ground once – Im crazy but the feeling of heartbreak is hard to find so I want more before everything is done. The car-truck-o-doom scene in Germany felt like a music video – I watched it 947262525x. Kim Soo Hyun decided this is the drama where he will exhaust everyones emotions – 3 years he was gone so he is compensating the pain 300x over. I felt just as drained by the entire scene as he must have been filming it. What. An. Actor.

  9. You have no idea how much I love both kjw and ksh I never watch any of their drama before this is my first time. ughh soohyun and jiwon has explosive chemistry, amazing visuals, terrific acting skills. the pairing is damn perfect bravo to the casting director.

  10. Shout out to KSH who is undoubtedly one of Korea’s best actor in any age group. Years ago, JJH said Korea is lucky to have an actor of his calibre. Now he gives out Baeksang Daesang level acting. He had a total of 3 career defining scenes within the span of the hour and they were not even his best acting of this whole drama if you can believe it. He is fortunate to come across a script that allows him such a range of emotions. Who knew he could do comedy so perfectly before this? Who knew he could play a cold hearted villain? Who knew he could be cute and say mundane lines and make people weep simultaneously? I have a weird feeling that despite thinking him to be fantastic the whole time I also underestimated him.

Re: plot – I LOVEEE. I am an angst lover so sue me because this amnesia plot is my catnip lmao. I legit watched Trot Lovers after finding out it had a bout of amnesia. And that drama was top of the poop level drama qualities lmao. In case anyone is curious, it has JHW and JEJ as leads. Anyway I cannot ever resist amnesia so this is right up my alley.

    • I have not heard about Trot Lovers in ages! Omg you unlocked a core memory of mine. I used to watch it with my cousin who is a big A Pink fan. I only remember one scene about the leads talking about little mermaid and disappearing. Aya, I want to see it again even if it was so bad 😅

  11. video call sceen between Hae in and her family when she decided to not take surgery is so touching especialy at the last part when She can hear her family sadness in conversation without realized “the connection” is stil there (T T)

  12. In the hands of lesser actors (and production) this drama would not have been the hit that it is. All the tired old tropes are here—chaebol, Big C, amnesia, psycho ex lovers, truck of doom (not once, not twice but MANY times 😂)… But boy did they do this in such a sleek, shiny way that the faults can be easily overlooked. I can certainly say my husband and I enjoyed the ride from start to (nearly) finish. What a thrill to watch KSH in his element again, and of course KJW standing toe to toe against him! As a longtime KSH fan (from his childhood roles) and being left meh by MES, IONTBO and YFAS (dropped after a few episodes), this for me is THE comeback. Will this drama ever break my top 10? Likely not. But it will definitely have a special place in my heart for the ensemble cast and production alone.

  13. I’m really not sure how there are some people not into or even hating on this drama, but I guess to each his own. Yes the writing can be messy, and all the tropes are there, but omg the ensemble cast and their acting is intense and gets you every time. I cannot praise KSH enough, this drama really solidifies him for me. I’m more of a KJW fan and this drama makes me love her even more and she is perfect for the role, but I can see why KSH got nominated. The truck scene is so intense. I can’t count how many times I cried. They really pull on our heartstrings.

    • The truck scene is the best scene of the drama. Maybe one of the best scenes I’ve ever seen in a kdrama full stop. Not just KSH, even KJW killed me with that scene. Hae In’s horrified gasp and the shock in her face when she witnessed Hyun Woo literally losing his mind. And then the realization that she can’t – won’t – leave him like this because he might actually die after she dies. I did hear a few grumblings about the plot, but I don’t think a single person who watched up till now is truly not watching next week lol. They can say they won’t, but there’s no doubt they will. To me, that’s good writing *shrug*

      • KSH and KJW are both great actors to begin with but together they enhance each other’s powers, for lack of a better way to put it. It’s not even their chemistry which is incredible btw, it’s more like they unlock new levels to each other’s abilities as actors.

Plenty of people in these comments have tried to bait saying ‘anyone could do it’ about either Hyunwoo or Haein’s roles but you’d have to be delusional to think anyone could do it like them. I may have my frustrations about the plot and minor points (seriously why are the villains getting away with everything so easily?) but the character writing is great and the actors match it, in anyone else’s hands Hyunwoo could come across as too perfect or Haein one-dimensionally cold, but KSH and KJW both play those characters in a way that feels layered, believable and human. That’s a skill not evvery actor has.

    • HW’s desperation and the full out panic attack turning into relief was \\so intense//

The way KSH acted out the difficulty in breathing really stressed me out. It genuinely thought he was going to pass out. I want to see the bts for it so bad. I wonder how hard that scene was to act out since I currently feel the intensity even as I type about it. Baeksang has never gotten it more right.

  14. This show is hard carried by the the two lead actors both in terms of chemistry and acting ability.

The storyline started off well but the proclivity for tired and unbelievable k-drama tropes reared its head as early as the drama’s beginning. The childhood connection needs to be done away with and erased forever

The worst part however, is/are the absurd antagonist(s), with very thinly written motives for Eun Sung and uninspired complications fueled by his character.

God, a stillbirth, a terminal diagnosis and a divorce + reconciliation is sufficient meat and bones for an excellent drama. The show is so great when it lasers in on the marital conflicts/is a character driven drama with the leads front and centre – the fact that its so overstuffed with cartoonish and hackneyed nonsense that has now been prolonged right to the end of the drama is majorly disappointing for me.

    • You pinpointed some trash sideline stories that I wasn’t able to elaborate. Those tropes of ridiculous, illogical narratives of numerous circus characters are proof of bad writing and directing. But fans loving it all. LOL. This isn’t a fantasy genre! Why making it so? LOL.

      • I think the fans are not oblivious to such, but they are hooked on the acting. It’s not really about the excessive storyline for them. As evidenced by all the raving being done here.

  15. I feel pretty strongly about how great QOT is so I am going to defend the writer here. This is a drama that has captured the kdrama world by storm and continues to bring out so much passion – whether rage or love – from drama fans. The ratings speak for themselves. The hype internationally speaks for itself. Not a week went by where the sat ratings were lower than prev sat. Same with Sundays. This week, even celebrities were live watching and commenting on the proceedings. I get that KSH, KJW and all are doing great. I mean, I can sing praises of KSH’s god level acting skills for this week alone. But the concept of actors “saving” this drama is not flying with me. The writer wrote a drama that is bringing astronomical numbers even if we were in 2020. In today’s advanced OTT world, having a rom com with a target of a younger audience group achieve 20%+ ratings for 3 episodes straight is unprecedented. That’s a fact no one can deny.

And it’s not due to lack of competition. Some commenter mentioned it in a different thread and I found it to be the so utterly absurd, I’m bringing it up again. Firstly, it’s my first hearing that and for a reason. It’s a hilariously stupid claim. QOT throughout its run literally competed with WW (Kim Nam Joo’s comeback drama), FXC (Broke doubt digits in ep 8) and now Detective 1958 (double digits in ep 1). Not to mention Hide (starring Lee Bo Young) and 7 (writer of Penthouse). And it came out on top against each of these dramas. So before claiming something, I suggest doing a bit of research. It’s going to keep anyone from embarrassing themselves. A hobby ppl apparently have here.

Mixed emotions for next week. Excited to see the resolution of our beloved Hong and Baek families, but also feeling pretty numb that it’s ending. I’ve been living and breathing QOT for 2 months. It’s so hard to let it go now…

    • Exactly correct. QOT has one of the toughest group of competing dramas on a sat! In fact it aired against the finale of Goryeo Khitan, Flex and WW. These dramas have an older demo audience = tv watching audience.

Anyway competition is just a small part of ratings. No one will turn on and force themselves to watch tv when Netflix, Coupang Play, Waave and a slew of different options are available.

The KBS weekend dramas used to easily surpass 30% 2 years ago. Now it cannot get to 20%. When any miniseries beats a KBS weekender ratings, that is a huge achievement. To be a cable drama beating a KBS weekender, thats massive.

  16. I see so many comments on KSH acting but at this point I cant see him anymore. The person on my screen is fully BHW. He feels like a real person and after watching god-knows-how-many shows, he is now my fav male lead of all time. It kills me that he’s suffering physically mentally emotionally everything. His hyperventilating reaction to the car bender and not being able to speak made me feel like I myself ran a 10k marathon 🤪

This whole work week will give me such anxiety omg. Please writer-nim please give Hyun Woo a break and just let him live!! Please!!

  17. This is just a slick, well produced daily drama and the misrepresentation of real world medical problems is… problematic.

  18. What amazes me is all the Germany scenes are all filmed within a month – the lovey dovey honeymoon scenes, the angsy divorce paper revelation scenes, and the heart wrenching emotional scenes. How do they even build up the emotions and get them so on point filming that out of order. Such amazing actors those two. That truck crash scene alone has over 500 comments on TheQoo and every single comment is talking about how insane KSH’s acting is. Intl fans are mostly full of praise but there are still some butt hurt fans of other actors blindly hating on the actor because of all the spotlight he is getting. SMH.

  19. Such an important surgery and her family isnt there? And when evil guy basically holds her hostage, what about our damsel in distress Mr Baek’s family flying to Germany and wrestle the poor fl from evil guy? I think fl basically saved herself in the end. I feel for the bad guys tho. Imagine poor woman serving 3o years of slavery with a man she despises and a family who either ignores her existence or makes it a living hell and in the end same old man tried to use her to replace him as prisoner whereas evil guy is just a foolish man in love who is deeply in love but doesn’t know maybe fl likes a more compassionate man. I mean both of them should have some happy ending. But honestly the evil guy doesn’t respect fl in terms of her views, her space and at present her memory. I was hoping she fakes her memory loss and seduces bad guy only to get evidence of his evil doing and get back fhe cash.

  20. Aya, Tears always ends on cliffhangers so I am used to that. But I admit this week triggered my previously non existent anxiety issues. I keep thinking about Hyunwoo in frankfurt detention center and thinking about not keeping his promise like he is some real person 😂

    What is this??

Eunseong that jerk. I had some underlying sympathy when he it was revealed he doesnt want money and wants love, bla bla bla. But he took things too far now. He better pay for everything!

Oh and what is that usb and can Dahye give it to Yangki?! Obv he will be involved in getting Hyunwoo out but maybe that usb is the key to unmasking these monsters. I want to get answers, but answers = end. This is a dilemma haha

    • My comment was so long so I cut it to 2!

I thought KSH already delivered his best scenes in the drama already in eps 1, 7, 10, 11. There was no way to top eps 11 really. But he is out to make fun of me. What is this man???? I dont know of a single actor in his 30s who is even close to his level… The church scene, car accident, hospital breakdown… I mean what the?? My mom and I were watching live so couldnt even pause to take a moment. I was a gross mess and we were both floored. Everyone had pretty much same reaction in Korea too. Really I lose adjectives when I speak of KSH. Nothing can give justice. How are you this good?? Not to forget all the other actors. KJW was so good when she was begging him not to give her the will to live. And Dongyeon really making the most out of his role. Please be a lead next!! Ah they are all great really. I will miss them so much

    • honestly I liked that the Eunseong character has this obsession with her and thinks it’s love BUT it’s shown as creepy, deluded stalker behaviour like he’s a walking red flag and every single time he tries to woo her her response is like “no thanks, you’re a creep and you were a creep back then too”, “bitch you thought?!! no thanks, my brain tumour >>>>>> you”, “no thanks, I don’t care for your sob story and the sight of you makes me lose my appetite” and now “no thanks, I got brain damage but I still haven’t forgotten my husband”

      • Hahahah I love the Eunseong bashing happening here. Its so funny.

Surely we will find out more next week but is his plan? So he lied and said the person she remembers is her ex and he is her husband.

Ok fine but now? Her family knows the truth the world knows the truth and his mother wont sit twiddling thumbs. What is he planning??

I am confused on what this delusional jerk wants to achieve other than maybe make her fall in love within a week or smth which is a bit ambitious and delusional of him hahaha

  21. I love this drama so much but I am a bit traumatized by 2521, Reborn Rich and CLOY’s ending. Can we not go there, I don’t care about how the writer can get to it, but pls end with a baby, and fully intact memories. I went from being worried she will die to now being worried of an open ending which is WORSE, just end it decisively so everyone can get closure. Ktrauma is hitting me hard.

  22. All KSH has done in this show is show how to cry in diff ways. He is a masterful crier I will give him that but all his highlighted scenes be it in this show or in his filmography are the ones where he is crying. There is absolutely no variety. Iirc, IOTNBO also had a breakdown scene which got him nominated. Good acting is more than just able to cry well :/

    • You should take that up with Baeksang or maybe really watch the drama (despite your username). I’ll leave it at that since there are literally thousands of comments across different social media platforms saying the opposite.

    • Are you really a qot watcher as your name suggests? Because if you are, you’d know that his best scene is not in fact his “crying” scenes but the one where he is Eunseong. Or the one where he confesses while drunk. Or the accident when he wasn’t crying but rather having a panic attack. Or the anger when he Haein was refusing to want to live after finding out about the divorce The reason he is known for his crying scenes is because he does it better than anyone else. Not because he can’t do anything else. Imagine getting 4 Baeksang nominations purely on crying. That would be one powerful scene to be getting nominated purely on that alone.

Also, funny that you claim you know what got him his IOTNBO nomination. That was announced? Hmm, I missed the memo. Would love a link to that gem.

    • *GROAN*

Okay then, here we go again with the Baeksang bitterness…
Baeksang judges thought process in your pov: ~~oooh KSH has a drama, show me his crying scene! ~~ perfect, he’s obv in, no further questions~~

IJBOL. But impressive af to weave that kind of influence with tears. You guys think he’s an even better actor than his fans and the neutrals! Damn. I didn’t know, but this is so flattering!

      • LOOLLLZZ. Kim Soo Hyun’s tears alone can apparently get him four Baeksang Best Actor nom. Meanwhile, 20 full length dramas are not enough to get some actors even a single nom… 😬🤯😂

How to dig yourself into a hole 101 👀🤪

    • I am not one to get into fan wars but Im sorry, what? He went viral for:

Week 2: bicycle throwing in anger
Week 4: yelling at the bridge
Week 5: I love you Haein
Week 6: swallowing Eunseong, Honey eyes

None of these had a single tear??

Look you can have your opinion on KSHs acting abilities. Thats fair and he cannot have everyone be a fan. Its ok too since its no loss to someone who has the whole nation behind him. But I find it very odd that you claim he is just able to cry well in a drama where before this week, his most famous scenes were involving some version of psycho not-Hyunwoo Hyunwoo, a screaming fit, or a cutesy heartfelt confession to a literal door.

    • I agree. He’s a decent actor and he cries really well on cue, but brilliant he is not. I’m a fan of his, but he’s a bit overglorified these days, esp by these rabid fans jumping in to defend him at the slightest criticism (see the barrage of comments above). Embarrassing and laughable

      • Nope nope nope.

Embarrassing here is you saying fans are ‘embarrassing and laughable’ without giving a single reason to justify your point. Everyone gave their argument for not agreeing with actual scene proofs. What’s yours? None apparently…

      • Lol what do you think this is, your high school debate championship? I don’t need to give a single reason to “justify” my point. I don’t need to justify anything. My opinion of KSH is that he is a decent actor who has been very lucky with the projects he picked, but his roles are starting to feel similar and repetitive to me. You think he hung the damn moon? Great. You acting like anybody owes you a justification for their own personal subjective opinion about an actor’s work? Embarrassing and laughable.

      • Comes in the comments section ✅
Argues by saying someone is “over glorified” without giving any examples ✅
Accuses fans who give actual reasoning as “rabid” ✅
Called out as having no actual argument ✅
Acts like a rabid person who got insulted due to being called out with no argument in an argument they signed up for ✅
Doesn’t get the irony of calling others “embarrassing and laughable” while literally being just that ✅

        Brilliant entertainment 🤣

Make sure you reply back with another furious non response btw. Rabid jealous fans aren’t my thing so I’ll make sure to not read 😜

  23. The last 2 episodes were a nosedive in quality, with ep 14 taking the cake for bad writing. The suspension of disbelief required now is too much. I don’t understand why kdrama writers feel obligated to work off a bingo card of kdrama tropes.

Melodramatic moments should be dished out sparingly to deliver emotional impact, not every 8 minutes. Now instead of feeling appropriately moved when the leads are sobbing at one another (which seemed to be 85% of ep 14), I’m just eyerolling and ffwd-ing.

Eunseong and his mother have very interesting backstories, and could’ve been terribly sympathetic villains. Instead they’re completely cartoonish. Poor Park Sunghoon has nothing of substance to work with.

The drama peaked with the Schitt’s Creek episodes, where the magic of everything really came together.

  24. Ep14 really is full of power scenes and I think it really does cement KSH as THE best actor of his generation and right there one of the top in all kDrama land. While KJW is really good and I feel she did superb in many of her scenes with him this week but this is ANOTHER level for KSH that is unmatched. You cannot deny him the daesang although sadly maybe this episode may not make the timeline for the judging. It’s the best in the whole series as of now – You know it when you hyperventilate with him when he high pitch gasp for air at the car crash scene. When you couldn’t breathe because he couldn’t breathe as he smashed the car windows. When you despite your rational logical self still nod furiously as you feel his desperation when he’s so afraid he says it’s driving him crazy when he begs her to just live at the church. You can literally see his heart in pieces and lastly the ultimate acting chops for me was at the hospital when she finally goes into the surgery room and out of sight – you just literally see his brave front slowly crumbling down pieces by pieces, the big breaths in and out, the relief, the happiness, and the deep sadness all culminating in a final crash down of tears. My goodness – this is pure ART. Every emotion on point, designed by intention but performed with perfection like it’s real and truely physical. At this point I’m worried for
KSH mental health filming this drama – when an actor pours this much of his heart and soul in every scene this is too much for his paycheck because people don’t live these crazy lives in such emotional roller coaster and I hope he gets crazily paid for this including a full refund of whatever he missed out because he is so worth it.

I know many claim writing is weak but I see it as a satire of all kDrama tropes – we got everything, Prince Charming, chaebol queen, first loves, first snow, childhood connection, terminal illness, bad moms, crazy villains, truck of doom and now memory loss what’s next I’m pretty sure noble idiocracy and true love triumphs all will tie it up – it’s like kDrama 101 and the challenge the writer seems to put out is – I’m going to do ALL of this, and I’ll still make you laugh and cry with it.
That’s the audacity of it – and gosh are we suckers.
I know I am vested when I’m tearing my hair seeing Eun Seong with his centre hair parting and white bandage cosplaying as hyun woo – my GAWD I never felt so much fury for a 2nd male lead at such a laughable feat. I was ready to go into the screen and pull his hair.
When you get your audience going that insane with all the tropes they thought they knew by heart – I think ms
Scriptwriter knows what buttons to push and for sure know how to work with the casting she got. I’m hoping and pretty confident we will get a solid last 2 episodes. It’s not live shooting and they have plenty of time to edit and it seems they have plenty of material too. I’m sure there are more cry’s and laughs – maybe it will still be crazy thin plot lines but we are too far vested to not care at this stage. That’s the magic of a good drama.

  26. I intentionally stopped myself from watching Queen of Tears so I didn’t have to do the weekly wait. I am all caught up now, but because I binged watched, I can’t stress how exhilarating and heartbreaking it is all at once. What a roller coaster of emotions. By god I am so impressed by all the actors. Each one of them from the leads to the support cast to the villains and even the ones with minor roles. Every single actor holds their own.

And since this is an episode 13/14 post, I specifically need to call out that insane top-tier acting from Kim Soo Hyun during the car accident scene. The level of emotions he portrayed; the feeling of watching that is something that will stick with me forever. That wasn’t Kim Soo Hyun acting out what Hyun Woo was feeling, it was him living that horrific moment as Hyun Woo. By god it was Oscar worthy. It was unreal. The intensity did me in; I swear I never felt more in-the-moment watching a kdrama scene in my entire life! I dont even remember the feeling of shedding tears as much as the feeling of being completely out of breath. I have no idea if I am just typing this out of an adrenaline rush or something, but wow wow wow. Kim Soo Hyun has always been a brilliant actor, but I don’t remember ever seeing this level of acting from him before. I am so blown away right now.

I’m sort of glad I have a couple of days before Sunday rolls around. I need a moment. I seriously love Queen of Tears *so so so much* it is so good. Still, even if it was fashion king level bullshit writing I wouldn’t have regretted a single moment if it eventually brought me to that car crash scene as the climax. I am in awe of that scene and everything about it. And I don’t think they can top it up in the next two episodes which is fine. You can’t create a top 5 kdrama scene of all time all willynilly anyway. I can only hope for a great end to this fantastic drama. It doesn’t need to be happy even, it just needs to be moving.
