K-actor Park Seo Joon Allegedly Dating Asian-American Model-Actress Lauren Tsai — 51 Comments

  1. Congrats if they are dating. PSJ was linked to a YouTube pretty recently and he did not confirm or deny that either. I do love that he is giving the media and everyone a middle finger by just not clarifying. Its brilliant and every single kactor should follow suit. No one deserves a clarification on these celebrities’ “dating scandals” and if they dont want to share whether they are with someone, they simply shouldn’t.

    • I disagree because everybody knows agencies refusing to confirm basically means the couple are together. It’s basically just an indirect confirmation. If a couple are not dating an agency will always make that clear because dating is such a big deal for K-celebrities.

      • He’s 35 years old. I hope he is old enough to be able to ignore dating intrusion. But I know this might be a pipe dream.

      • It basically is? Says who? You?

He is normalizing not giving any fucks, while you’ve normalized that that behaviour means indirect confirmation. Your choice on what you want to believe. Thats his point – he doesnt care. But only a few people know whether its true or not and you and I ain’t amongst them.

      • But the celebrities are better off when agencies don’t confirm anything. The moment it’s confirmed, celebrities can’t do an interview without the interviewer bringing up the person they’re involved with. No comment is the best answer. It’s sad some celebs are out there apologizing to their fans for being in a relationship after it’s been confirmed.

    • Not really a good thing, to make this a norm, they should confirm the dating more often, especially sometimes when it is not true and one of the parties will get hate from that celebrity fans

      • LOL. What racist here? Only ppl with low self esteem and big ego would interpret such a simple statement of observation as an American to be an insult. To the opposite, it’s a compliment to her. She has all the physical features considered Asian beauty in the US. What’s wrong with that American aesthetics? You sound very insecure. LOL

    • @Somebody – Please define what you meant by “American” eyes… do you mean “Trump” or “Biden”? LOL… @nahaluk – I cannot read into what’s so racist about the comment… I just know it does not make any sense!

      • It’s not a political statement but more of general “Western” views of beauty standards. It’s complex, and is an interesting racist knot to unravel. “Westerns” view Asians as exotic and fetishize Asian women as submissive with almond eyes, darker yellow skin, and more along her facial shape. Asia is diverse, of course. However, Korean/East Asian beauty standards have moved towards more Anglo features: white skin, big doe eyes, prominent double eyelids. Of course, many East Asians have those features, but with the rise of plastic surgery in the entertainment industry, it feels that many have disliked their “traditional” natural Asian features.

So by saying “Americans” would view her as beautiful, it’s insulting her natural Asian features. It also confirms America’s stereotypical view of Asian women.

In the end, everyone is being bashed, but the biggest loser is Asian women, who are grouped together, will never measure up to either’s standards, and can’t be regarded as individuals. Also, they must be measured by beauty instead of other attributes.

      • It’s nothing to do with racism or anything that complex with a lot of your exercise of mental gymnastics about Western points of view at all. It’s a compliment to her beauty of Asian face and physique that is commonly recognized by Americans in a lot of commercials, ads, TV shows, and movies etc. How is there anything to do with racism! Such a frivolous stretch!

Stop twisting American culture and viewpoints by inferring negativity in every way. It just shows how insecure you are as a descent of Asian. Americans have certain aesthetic views of Asian beauty just like Asians have their own aesthetic views of Western beauty. How is one aesthetic standard is racist but not the other? LOL. Use your brain with logic!

    • Not just in American eyes. Lauren Tsai also has a modelling career in Japan, so obviously she’s attractive for Japanese people too.

    • I guess insecure ppl tend to be oversensitive and overinterpret a very simple statement like this. She indeed fits all the standards of Asian beauty here in the US. Most Americans will think she’s beautiful. I said that cos she’s an Asian American too. That’s my point! How did this sound extra racist? LMAO. So paranoid!

    • ΗL, this is irrelevant to Park Seo Joon, but I wanted to say that I totally appreciate how you are always positive on everything. I don’t remember having ever read a nasty, bitter, toxic or whatever post of yours. Respect.

      • @Nena @SUnny, I just love being happy. I see entertainers as people offering a service for us all. If I enjoy a drama, I will watch. If I dont, I will turn it off. No point being too judgemental over them.

But I do have afew strong worded responses to those that want to pick on me just for the sake of it. They dont want conversations…just their own monologues. They do make me laugh which is entertaining in itself.

I like Koala’s playground… we can meet so many people from all over the world.. and read different prospectives.

The sun is back here in UK, best stock up on my ice creams. Eating ice creams does make me feel happy…

  2. Oops they just caught him dating that Korean Youtuber less than a year ago and he’s already on to the next girlfriend. That poor woman was getting so much unnecessary hate from some of the crazy fans too. They can leave her alone now and will probably move on to terrorizing this lady.

I think Lauren Tsai looks beautiful from these pictures and, yeah, she’s not the typical K-star beauty vibe but doesn’t sound like she is Korean from her surname anyway.

I wonder what his next project will be? Pre-Covid his career was on such a roll starring in big hits (Midnight Runners, Fight My Way, What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim?, Itaewon Class) but post-Covid he has struggled. Especially 2023-24 were terrible for him: his previous sexist comments coming back into the limelight, expensive Netflix monster drama flopping hard, expensive Marvel film flopping hard and his role was just ridiculous, his football film with IU received bad reviews. Concrete Utopia did well but he didn’t really make much of an impression compared to all the other actors.

    • Curious on when did Fight My Way – with a peak of 13% on a terrestrial channel in 2017 – become considered a big hit? 🤪 And don’t give me the mon-tue bullshit argument because once again – it was 2017. Unless you consider Witch’s Court some big hit too…

And I’m no PSJ fan but funny how you decided to count the Marvel movie against his resume when he was practically in a special appearance role, but Concrete Utopia is not really a plus because he made less of an impression to you. Crazy how that works.

      • @Anon
Ratings is not everything. It’s okay that’s love had a peak 13%, and this drama still considered a big hit.

      • @Anon Fight My Way was a sleeper hit – #1 in its time slot against a much bigger and more hyped production (My Sassy Girl remake with Joo Won who was at the time a much bigger star where PSJ was the new guy just breaking out), dominated the Contents Power Index for buzz through its entire run, scenes went viral and ratings reached the teens by the end. Dramas that tick just one or two of those boxes get called hits, FMW had all of them.

    • He’s done well in variety shows post covid but yeah his recent acting projects haven’t been the best.

That said, his string of pre covid hits is long enough that he can’t be written off just yet, even Hyun Bin had about 4-5 years of indifferent/underperforming projects post-military, before Confidential Assignment (2017) and of course Crash Landing on You.

      • @Royal We: True about HB but I feel like even back then Hyun Bin was still THE Hyun Bin even when his films were flopping so he had a lot of goodwill whereas I don’t think Park Seo Joon had quite reached that status before this recent string of flops. I think PSJ was also hoping to expand his career internationally but the abysmal reception to The Marvels and his role in the film put that on pause.

I forgot about his variety show but you are right variety keeps him in the public eye even when people aren’t watching his acting projects. I do agree PSJ can’t be written off yet. From an acting perspective I think he is very talented and if he can bring back the same skills he used to pick his leading roles pre-covid again he can bounce back. He is male and they get more opportunities in the industry plus he doesn’t have any major scandals, has lots of industry connections and is tall and good-looking so he’ll be OK.

      • I enjoy his variety shows alot… he has such a humble soul and he gets on with many people. I would love to work with a guy like him… he is professional, hardworking , respectful and have such a cute smile…

    • You don’t know if he ever dated with them or not, but of course all ready to judje. Looking at your comment I can understand his decision don’t say anything about his private life.

    • his last major dating rumour was with Park Min Young circa What’s with Secretary Kim and she was most definitely not 25 or under at the time lol

      • Yupp I was wondering when our resident male loving insect would come out of the woodwork… hope you find the fulfilment that you seek chasing after these men…

    • You must be confusing him with kim soohyun who has famously commented about marrying a 21 year old at 41 and even had dating rumours with Kim Saeron who is 12 years younger than him.

      • Even PSJ, said something similar. Look I don’t mind, it’s just I don’t know I feel like men keep going for young women, where are older women supposed to go. Disappear. I am super emotional about this is beucase I have done a lot of social work with widows old women (Chinese) and they have been widowed for decades (men die young and there is always an age difference). They are like all 90 plus living alone since they were 60. They cry when you visit them. These experiences have permanently scarred me. I worked with old women in India when I was in my early twenties and that’s when I vowed I will never marry an older man. So it is upsetting. All women are destined to grow old alone when married or not… and men keep doing this. Anyhow that’s a long ramble. Sometimes I wish I did not do social work with old people then I would not have known this terrible reality of a woman on earth…

      • @Sk2 – you need to see a counselor. In this day and age, no woman should rely on any man. Everyone (man or woman) should feel happy being independent.

      • @SK2
But this is not about India or China? And they don’t have 30 years age gap?
She’s not 18 yo, she’s grown up enough to decide herself if she wants to be with him or not. I don’t understand why are you somehow pitying her, when it’s her personal life, her choice. Whatever she dates with him or not, this is their business, not yours. And you didn’t even notice how disrespectful you commented their personal life with your “men always doing this, poor women” etc. You literally saying that he’s hypotheticaly dating with her because of her age or looks, not because of her personality. And that she’s stupid enough to bait on that.

      • @bn

LOL. So dude’s been in the industry for over 12 years with no dating rumors or scandals. Even THE Dispatch said they tried hard to get him but couldn’t find anything. Then a disgraced actress who lost her career due to her own stupid choice to drink and drive was dropped by her agency and when she sees that same agency’s biggest star having a mega hit drama, she decides to clout chase by posting a photo of herself with him and deleting it. Then suddenly you’ve got people calling him awful names and now he’s the Leo DiCaprio of Korea? Really? Even after her own friends admitted her clout-chasing reason for posting that photo? LOL.

I’ve seen your comments about him in previous posts. You clearly don’t like him, that’s fine. But until there’s any actual evidence of him being the creep y’all have decided he is based on a dumb joke he made before Christ was born and an ordinary photo by an attention-seeking disgraced actress, y’all should stick to the same-old criticisms about his acting.

  3. If this is true, good for him! She’s a natural beauty with very pretty captivating eyes and beautiful smile. At first glance, I’d say she gives off this cool aura. But once she speaks, you’ll find she’s got this down-to-earth wamth about her. She’s talented, intelligent and very real. Unlike the plastic and cutesy Asian (Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean, etc.) women everyone seems to be raving about these days. 🙄

    • Right. Because obviously when choosing to date, a man should go with “natural beauty” instead of “plastic and cutesy Asian”, DUH. There’s nothing more to look, for example, I dunno… a woman’s personality maybe? The person underneath the natural/fake face maybe?

Some of these comments are so pathetic its hilarious.

    • I don’t like plastic faces either, but you’re making a pretty unfair and weird generalization of Asian women just to uplift another Asian woman.

Cutesy looks don’t really get raved about, at least not in the Korean and Chinese entertainment industries. Women who are considered to be top beauties usually have a mature and elegant look. Some of them are obviously plastic, but some aren’t.

Besides, there’s nothing wrong with having a cute look if that suits someone’s natural features more.

  4. She seem authentic and down to earth unlike the typical Korean women who I find have this pretentious air about them. They try so hard to want people to believe that they are conservative and traditional when actually they are not.

    • “the typical korean women” – you know that you can’t tell about ALL korean women because of 1-3 woman you know?
You sound like a Nazi. There are 26 million women in Korea, they’re not the same.

    • I know I shouldn’t say this but its a fact that Koreans in real life/general are the most arrogant & rude & selfish assholes who only looks down and bully other people. I’m speaking from experience as I was badly bullied and abused by quite a number of koreans while I was in secondary school. Its I’m gonna get hate for being discriminatory but this is just how Koreans are in my pov.

  5. Ooh! I remember her from Terrace House (the one that took place in Hawaii). She is half Chinese – half white (American), and she can speak Japanese because she’s worked in Japan before.
She’s indeed really beautiful, and seems like a really cook chick.

  6. She has classic “hapa” looks (Hawaiian term for half-haole/Caucasian and half-Asian mixed people). Her family is quite wealthy and well-educated. She and her sister attended one of the best prep schools in the US, and her father is a partner at one of the MBBs.

  7. Urgh i support this couple if it’s real! She’s THE Lauren Tsai of Netflix’s Terrace House fame – cool chic with such calm demeanor. Love her and yes she’s very gorgeous.

    I miss Terrace House.
