C-actress Zhou Ye Hits #1 Search for Intentionally Ignoring CCTV-6 Reporter’s Backstage Greeting After Movie Event

So I don’t think this will derail C-actress Zhou Ye‘s career but it’s definitely one of this situations where she could have done it differently to avoid this bad press. This week Zhou Ye attended a movie event and afterwards she was walking backstage where a lot of event organizers and media were present through the hallways. 6th Princess (CCTV-6) had its reporter call out to her not just once but twice in greeting and the respectful and professional response would be a turn to acknowledge with a smile and wave back, nothing more needed. She ignored the first greeting and then even turned further away her face for the second one as she motored through there. CCTV is the national government network and has the biggest clout in the industry, with CCTV-1, CCTV-2, CCTV-3 and so forth all covering and broadcasting different genres and CCTV-6 (6th Princess) is the movie channel. Zhou Ye immediately rocketed to #1 search (Zhou Ye Black Face, which black face here means bitch face and not the US connotation) after the rumors spread and then subsequently the footage came out from the 6th Princess vantage point. A few actresses have been dinged for ignoring reporters and generally having a bitchy attitude during promos including Wu Jin Yan and Wang Chu Ran, so this definitely isn’t going to do Zhou Ye any favors.

C-actress Zhou Ye Hits #1 Search for Intentionally Ignoring CCTV-6 Reporter’s Backstage Greeting After Movie Event — 51 Comments

  1. She has been dragged for days.

Problem is that she is a lousy actress who is only here because she has huge backing. Doing something like this is really dumb in that case. If she disappears after this, it won’t be a loss.

    • She must be tired but I think a simple gesture like an acknowledging nod would’ve sufficed.

Lucky her she’s under Li Bingbing’s Hesong. She won’t run out of resources. This won’t affect her.

    • Stop being a hater, she didnt come to this stage cuz of any backup, she is really pretty, and no actress as her age is as talented as her, she is great actress

      • @Merry

Thanks for the laugh. She is notorious in China for her terrible acting and getting roles thanks to LBB. Get a grip.

      • OMG, Now you are just an unreasonable hater, she never got bad reviews on her acting whether local or internationally, and Zhou Ye is known to have a wide range of characters, she is one of few growing actresses thats not an Idol drama actor

  3. Alot of the Chinese actors doesn’t seem friendly. I’ve seen alot of clips where their fans would be waiting outside and the minute they arrive, they don’t even care to even wave hi. I get that alot of fans can be annoying but they’re still your supporters and a friendly gesture doesn’t hurt.

    • For the popular actors and actresses, many of those who waited outside are not fans but proxies and sasaengs who earn money by livestreaming celebrities. Most popular celebrities’ teams have also made it clear to the fans that they should not follow the actor/actress on unofficial/unreleased schedules, so as to prevent crowding and chaos. The size of the Chinese population is much larger than other countries, meaning there’s much more people for everything compared to other countries like Korea, and it’s too easy for crowding to occur. So, to not encourage their fans to follow on unofficial/unreleased schedules, popular celebrities will ignore those who followed them. With that said, Zhou Ye’s case is different though.

  4. What if she ignored some noisy annoying reporter who dont know when to call it off, so should we feel bad for him or something bffffffffffff

  5. Honestly a smile n a wave would have cause her nothing as koala said, we get that she might be tired or not in the mood but this is the professional she chose so when she is in the limelight her behaviour matters especially in the type of entertainment industry she is in.

Some said it much do about nothing, that true, but having an attitude in her kind of industry will not favor her especially since she is still establishing herself has an actress. I feel that c neitzen r actually lenient on her , with another actress, this outcome would have been much worse because some get called out for having an altitude but never been seen this way, n they get troll for it as much.

    • “I feel that c netizen r actually lenient on her” – Are you seriously?? They’re not lenient to her, to keep it slide is a one and only normal reaction.
To cancel or to hate some actress for this is ridiculous.

  6. Zhou Ye is a weak actress with good resources,i dont think a video its enough to say she has bad attitude. Some of these actresses are constanly hungry, especially in these events to show off the dresses. They are probably always hungry and grumpy 🤣🤣.

  7. These reporters acting all mighty and coming for blood dragging her down just because they’ve been ignored. I saw them simply hold a regular phone with a cheap ass sticker type to the phone expecting the artist to take them serious. For all we know, it could have been any crazy fans too.

That being set, she should present herself better because she wants people to watch her project. Better to avoid negative press.

    • Yes even actor who are tolerant and mature like Xiao Zhan are now so sick of these reporters and he makes sure to cover himself from head to toes just to make sure those annoying reporters dont get to take single photo of him

      • Not true. Those that XZ avoids are sasaengs and proxies, not official reporters.

      • @Merry

Don’t involve other people by spreading lies. XZ hides himself from sasaengs, not from official reporters.

If you want to defend your idol don’t involve others!

  8. Above comments making excuses for poor attitude. The reporter didn’t sound arrogant, even came across as super friendly. If every actress is starving and hungry then all the more that the ones who still manage to smile and/or give a simple nod to an employee stand out for giving the bare minimum courtesy.

    • He was not arrogant he is annoying like a fly and they all seemed friendly just to take a photo and why you ask that to stop and keep their distance or you just refuse taking a photo like this dude they show you their true ugly face.

  9. actually we should praise her bravery….the reporter is leaking her private video before this incident…thats why they try to be nice to her. Why people always look and believe to one side of the story

  10. She has right to ignore anyone including reporters (who mostly act like paparazzi and no exception for state media LOL) that is irrelevant to her business. Why should she respond to those who might want to snatch photos from her LOL? Just because it was coming from a state media, therefore she should pay respect to those photographers nothing different from paparazzi? How obnoxious it is! CCTV whoever are not her business partners or boss but they acted like one. This is how ludicrous it looks. LOL

Aside from all being said above, she isn’t a good actress whose works are worth attention from viewers like me.

  11. Uh, honestly no excuses. She’s a celebrity so there’s bound to be cameras on her. It’s not like CCTV is a small network. If she’s tired then everyone else is also tired, but the other stars were able to nod and say hi quickly before moving on.

  12. It looked pretty deliberate, but I wonder if that reporter did something to make her act that way beforehand. I don’t feel like I have the whole story to judge her based on a <1 minute clip.

  13. She’s an actress, her main job is filming in a dramas, not to be a clown in a circus, who should always to smile and acting friendly and happy in front of others.
People often says that asian paparazzi and fans are too much, that they are ready to cancel celebrities for nothing, but look at you, how many of you looking down at her right now because “she wasn’t professional”. She should be professional during filming her dramas and during her own promotion, in other time he can ignore whoever she wants, this is not your business!
    “She’s a celebrity”. And? What’s your deal?
So what now, because she ignored reporter you think c-fans should punish her, put her in her place, cancel some of her dramas or to make her write apologies letter? What’s the point discussing how she need to act, that she need “to nod” or “to smile”? Sorry that you discovered that she’s not perfect and just a human who can be angry, tired, unbothered or whatever she was. I think information like this was too much for sensitive drama’s watchers, otherwise I can’t understand why some people seriously discussing how she need behave yourself.

    • I agree with some of what you said but to be fair to the reporter, she was backstage which means she was there in a professional capacity so it isn’t uncalled for her to do her PR duties of waving and making nice with the press. This is a CCTV staff member so it isn’t like she was hounded by the paparazzi here.

Does she need to be cancelled over it? Definitely not but it would do her well in brushing up her PR face when in such an environment cause being a celeb is more than just acting in a drama/ movie. A lot of it is PR work and that means having to put on a friendly smile for the press whether one feels like it or not.

      • Yes, I’m agree, this is PR work, and better for her would be wave and smile, but she’s the one to choose to do this or not. If she doesn’t want it, and would have some problem with CCTV after this, it’s her choice and her business. As Somebody said, she has right ignoring anyone, including replrters.
Not for regular c-drama watchers to talk about this: “no excuses”, “she wasn’t professional”, “c-fans are lenient to her”, like you can see in comments above.

      • @Olesya…but the comment about her not being professional is true tho because it is a professional setting 🤷🏻‍♀️ she has the right to ignore reporters just like cnetizens have the right to criticize her lack of PR face since she’s a public figure so her works(including this kind of PR work) is in the public domain

      • @R
You missed my main topic. This is PR, but she’s the one to choose to do this PR or not, no one can criticise her for not working during her offscreen time, if she doesn’t want this. I repeat, she’s an actress, not a host for others, her main deal is to be good onscreen and during her drama’s promotion, in other time she can do whatever she want, and none can criticise her for being nor professional during her free time, because it’s her choice and her business.

      • I don’t want to judge her based on a 30 second clip, but I agree with people that this is still considered her work setting. She’s at an event. She’s not going grocery shopping or hanging out with friends, which I think she has every right to ignore reporters. But I think people should give her grace because we don’t know why she reacted that way. I don’t think people should automatically assume she as a “bad attitude” based on a short interaction like this. Everyone can have a bad day at work.

      • @Olesya1…I think you and I are defining what PR is differently. To me, PR is part of her job so in that definition, she’s not doing her job here by ignoring a reporter at a work event. To me, she’s on the clock here because she’s attending an event.

Anyway , no big deal just as hopefully is not a big deal and will blow over sooner than later for the young actress 🙂

  14. You can see how different ppl from different cultures with different ideology have different voices and perspectives of her. The clip Koala posted here is linked to a Taiwanese news channel where viewers in the comment section unanimously gave middle fingers to CCTV-6 for their arrogance and the ruckus they created in the fan circles. The CCP state media is making a mountain out of a molehill. On the other hand, C netizens being used to be submissive to the state authority and mouthpieces of the CCP, are overreaching to cancel her? LOL.

    • Would anyone be surprised that viewers in a Taiwanese news channel criticise CCTV-6 and anything related to CCP? Their views are subjective in the first place because of their political stance, and they don’t fully understand how C-ent operates either, just like you. That CCTV-6 reporter is an official media that’s invited to the event and the reporter did held a sign stating that he/she is under CCTV-6. In any country, celebrities know they can expect to interact with official media when they attend events, including backstage.

In any case, CCTV-6’s social media did not criticise Zhou Ye in their video, it’s just netizens (more likely rival companies) blowing things up. Zhou Ye was shown being friendly and smiley to the same CCTV-6 reporter in subsequent uploaded videos.

      • As much as you claimed I don’t understand how C-ent operates, you have zero idea of how Western showbiz is run. I don’t need to see from Chinese perspectives cos I’m just not Chinese. Equally, Taiwanese netizens are free to express their opinions about anything around the world, even their standpoints are not so Chinese.

There is no such called official media in the US that would tag celebrities along or report anything like paparazzi. All the ent media are privatized and mostly tabloids would be even interested in stalking celebrities. PBS for example, the only government-run media in the US, only focuses on serious journalism. Journalists don’t bother with petty speculation of celebrities’ motions and motives as shown in this much ado about nothing in C-ent. LOL. That’s a huge difference and that’s what I find amusing.

      • This issue happened in C-ent so there’s no need to bring Western showbiz in, it’s like a fish calling humans weak and useless for not being able to breathe underwater naturally. It is common for Asian entertainment industries to invite media to event backstage for creating media content, their celebrities are used to it and should be expecting media interactions.

      • That’s why we’re different. From Western points of view, ALL the perspectives on anything are welcome. People are free to express regardless of reasons or background of different upbringing, cultures, and training. Why should western perspectives be excluded from comments on an event or incident in China? As much as Chinese netizens always look at the rest of the world outside internet firewall through their biased lens, ppl living outside China are also entitled to our opinions about China and what happens in China. Your analogy of fish vs. human equally applies to scenarios the other way around just with roles reversed. LOL.

You and your Chinese friends have same pages on this incident. Others and I have different views otherwise. No one can denigrate any comment in this forum. No one has any right or authority to moderate or tell anybody what to say or what not to. This is a free English Forum with IP in the US for everyone to free express, CCP likes it or not, and Chinese agree or not.

      • Oh really? I recall you telling me in previous articles to not bring the Chinese way of thinking into a US/international website like here, even though I’m not Chinese. Applying double standards again?

      • LOL @Lilith, you really have a fetish to put your words in ppl’s mouths. Stop taking my comments out of context. I told you to stop labeling and accusing ppl for what they are not, as how C netizens have a tendency to do inside China. I told you to stop telling ppl what to say and what not. I told you to stop policing comments as if you have some sort of CCP authority. LOL. These are the same patterns of behavior as Chinese netizens. I told you to not spread these types of virus coded with Chinese authoritative genes to English forums.

You are not 100% Chinese but obviously you are being brainwashed so badly by gossipy Chinese social media cos you claimed your Chinese is better than average Chinese people. LOL. I’m just honest to expose you.

      • Now you are contradicting yourself, my dear. And you’re the one accusing random people here of being Chinese or supporting CCP when they are not. It’s always fascinating to see your lack of self-awareness. I shall end this conversation here as it seems that the topic is getting derailed.

    • Taiwanese News Chanel?… and SOMEBODY would believe… How much money will the Taiwanese be paying the C-artists? Does anyone really need to care about the news there??

      • LOL. How’s this to do with money? We are talking about netizens’ reactions to the gossip manipulated by CCTV-6. Taiwanese media can post anything they want and their citizens are all free to any thoughts, CCP like it or not. LOL.

    • @Somebody Everyone has the right to write or say whatever they want, that includes insults, defamations and what not. Lol. I have to tolerate Chinese obnoxious forums. I have no right to suggest that they should not be like that because I would be violating their right to freedom of expression. Oh! Poor me. Lol. Funny how these people don’t have freedom of thought, that’s why they stay with those narrow minds.

  15. She is still a struggling actress and has not had any good projects. No one will remember her. Maybe it is a blessing for her to be in the BUZZ as #1 search for once… at least she does not need to flash some body parts nor have some scandals to be on #1 search like some others in different countries (e.g in Cannes many years ago)… LOL..

  16. what a boring and arrogant chinese netizen
They judge actor, acresses, even the one they love
once they have even 1 drama/movie…they attack from all direction
as it said 1 finger point to other, 4 point to self.
Be a nice people….in figure skating, when skater fall, everyone clap
their hand for support…thats nice people
Learn to be nice and gentleman…as China is grow they should change the attitude like this too. Watch Cdrama Fireworks of My Heart where the fireman work hard to save somebody from commit suicide and jumping down and almost succeed the people around make bad comment and make that person jumping…thats a perfect descrioption of Chinese netizen LOL(those who love to criticize and become judge)
