Opening Ratings of 5.6 on Douban for Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact is the Inglorious Ending for the High Expectation Xianxia Misfire
I thought Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact, regardless of the story or acting, would at least be visually beautifully and engrossing enough to keep watching. Alas I couldn’t make it pass a few episodes even on the pretty and there was indeed so much pretty. But what looked good on stills did not create a moving tableau that kept the interest and the drama sacrificed a source story that had strong fan following for a hodge podge of xianxia elements and too many characters. The opening Douban ratings are out and it’s a very paltry 5.6 and even that may be a tad generous. The production is taking a break before the next two installments to create a distance with Red Moon Pact and also because investors lost money on this drama so it will be hard to get CF sold for the next two dramas in the near future.
5.6 is a fair assessment of the quality of the drama which would have been vastly improved by adequate writing.
Bad acting by the leads, bad writing. This is actually a good score for this drama.
Does that mean we would not be able to watch part 3 for a long while later? I was looking forward to part 3… Liu Shishi can deliver… Hope script is good.

Well deserved! LOL
People only trust Douban ratings when it benefits them. LMAO. They’re like: “If I don’t like it, nobody should like it.”
Are you seriously trying to claim this is a good drama?
Nope, I was refering to a comment in particular.
Given the writing shenanigans, I’m surprised it even got a 5.6. Douban ratings are usually quite harsh too.
No doubt the rating was deserved. I could only watch a couple of episodes per sitting. I only watched it if I had nothing else to watch. I truly think some lead actors/actresses should take a break and watch themselves from their first drama to now and they will realize the fire is gone from their performances.
I skipped after 3 episodes.
Simon Gong lacks the charisma n machismo to be a male lead…Yang Mi’s acting seems to have reached a plateau… lucky to be rated at 5.6 n not less…
