This is a fantastic next role for C-actress Yang Chao Yue, I may not like her due to her limited acting but watching her reboot her flower vase drama leading actress roles to this is a smart move. She’s landed the role of female lead in the upcoming C-drama adaptation of hit HK-movie King of Comedy which is directed by and starred HK star Stephen Chow and is one of his most iconic and famous works in his special brand of absurd comedy. Her fans are ecstatic and this adaptation also has a male lead in C-actor Jiang Long. It is scheduled to go into production sometime in Q4 2024.

He is amazing, extremely talented.
She is a talentless disaster that is trying to hitch her train to someone with talent so she could grab all the recognition in the end. Hopefully she doesn’t destroy this for him but seems unlikely.
Given the right direction she’s fine in small doses, like The Double and The Ideal City. She’s definitely not as bad as Ju Jingyi or Angelababy. That said, I don’t think she has what it takes to be a FL.
True, this is a comedy drama JJY can never give her a look for any role , YCY in the hand is willing to play a silly character, i feel this kind of role will suit her perfectly with the right director guidance
Maybe she can suit comedy and if there is nothing tragic or something requiring energy for dramatic acting she could pull it off 🤷🏻♀️ I find those that stink at acting do better in comedy but we know that that’s not an actors dream to just do comedy. Hopefully they are coaching her well. I mean Suzy and hydro were stinkers but improved a bit she might too. lol maybe
I meant Hyeri stupid auto correct lol
I think comedy is actually as hard or sometimes harder than serious acting though. You have to have the right timing and ability to completely let go. And you also need tu be able to switch to serious at an instant in order to make the contrast even funnier.
Maybe just maybe a comedy setting can be more relaxing because a lot of people commented how some comedies with said bad actors seem more comfortable and more like themselves therefore not having to act too much yet try to get into the character. I’m no pro but so far it is partially true. Not always the case but I have noticed it.
I only read Chinese news in this blog so I’ve no inkling on who these people are. BUT! I felt the need to comment because this might be the first time I’ve read that any chinese star’s fandom is ecstatic about a casting situation. Usually all i hear is epic fan wars breaking out or fans ripping each other’s costars apart lol
She did very very well in The Double. She is definitely having acting lessons. Her role there was all about being extremely miserable, hopeless and even suicidal.
If she get cast in this one, I hope she shows a great performance.
I have only watched her in The Double but I was appalled by how dreadful this woman’s acting was in her 10 minutes of screen time in the 1st episode. Her acting was more wooden than the pear tree her character planted.
I watched her debut survival shows Produce 101 before. I do feel that her on stage persona fits Stephen Chow’s style – cheesy, hyperbolic, emotional, and dramatic. Stephen Chow was also cheesy, quirky, cute & handsome, but extremely funny and magnetic when he was young. He had all the mixes a persuasive comedian could embody. Although I think his jokes and planks were embarrassing sometimes, they did make me laugh. LOL. I could also see certain K actors were influenced by SC.
Good news for YCY. She improved in the Double. Hopefully, this new drama would be another career advancement for her. I don’t dislike her. At least, she does look pretty. LOL
Stephen Chow version of Monkey King remains the best for me
Still can’t make me fangirl over her and I’ve sat through 2 of her dramas and even that cameo in The Double (she wasn’t the lead so it didn’t matter as much).
She is pretty, it’s a pity that she still can’t act.
Good choice for her to move into movies. Idol dramas are targeted at female audiences and are usually written from the FL’s perspective which means the show will depend heavily on her. There are lots of male driven movies where she can find her niche, she has the right looks for a movie career.
Ooh is this a remake of the original movie? I actually can kinda picture her in cecilia cheungs role from the original…
