Conflict Already in Pre-planning Stages of C-drama Painted Skin as Director Guo Jing Ming Prohibits Ju Jing Yi’s Makeup Team and Male Lead Zeng Shun Xi’s Fans Upset with Billing

This is the kind of popcorn I love since I don’t care about any of the leads and if this turns out a great drama it’ll be nice to watch and if it’s a hot mess it will be a different kind of fun to watch. The C-drama version of demon romance drama Painted Skin is in the casting and pre-planning stages and the leads are set as Ju Jing Yi and Chen Du Ling as the female leads (in that order) and Zeng Shun Xi as the male lead. Director Guo Jing Ming has reportedly banned Ju Jing Yi from bringing her own makeup team which she does to every drama set hence the totally modern overly white makeup in In Blossom that was so distracting. Zeng Shun Xi’s fans are upset with his billing in third behind the two female leads and have complained but to no avail. I’m also calling now a bitch fight to come between Ju Jing Yi and Chen Du Ling’s fandoms as this drama gets underway.

  1. I literally hate that all logic are out the door when this actress play a character. Any distress/kidnapping/dirt dragging to ground, fighting scene, ect … she looks like a fairy. For saken, throw some dirt on that damn face, erase that damn makeup, you’re not in a beauty contest. But then again, horrible actress and worse of all she refused to make herself better. Can’t wait until her phase is over… all these resources/projects could have gone to actual actress w/ potential.

  2. As someone with an irrational dislike for Ju Jingyi’s trademark make-up look she wears in every drama for the past couple of years, this is great news. I might even watch this drama after all lol

    • I don’t hate her makeup but having it waterproof, fireproof, even kidnapping proof isn’t the way lol
It just stays the same ahahha

    • Part of me thinks that the director has been sick of JJY’s makeup style for years and casted her just so he could make her stop. It would be hard to reject the role and director. And everyone would be curious to see her in different makeup. Otherwise, I can’t imagine how she would be a good fit for Painted Skin.

      • Welll…..it’s “Painted Skin” after all. Lol

Im assuming JJY is the fox demon and CDL is the mortal wife of the general. I actually liked JJY the short term she played the evil girl inside Blossoms before she switched. Kinda of tired of her boring nice girl roles.

      • but she is a delicate actress and GJM is known to harshly scold his artists especially actresses, dont see how these two can get along while filming

      • @Chancy No its a complete new plot. Go read the new plot at MDL. It seems like JJY is playing the fox demon’s disciple and CDL plays the original fox demon.

  3. I support the director ✊️😅 maybe she should try… ACTING. Lol. Become your character, perhaps? I wonder, if true, if this is the line she would draw that she won’t cross. Haha.

  4. I loved legend of yu xi , it was one of my first drama after I rekindle my love with Cdrama. However, I couldn’t watch her drama afterwards and probably because of the make up.

    • He has been second billing to actresses three times in a row in his projects with Li Yitong, Li Qin and Bai Lu. It will be the fourth time if he takes on this project. So fans don’t want him to take this and instead take on a project where he will be the main star. But eh he’s obviously interested in the attention this project will bring so fans are being obtuse by protesting. Guo Jingming + Ju Jingyi will attract all the fans and haters so even if this drama flops, it will get people talking about it before it even airs.

  5. If she always wants to look the same, maybe she should stick to modelling instead of acting. JJY’s obsession with her looks is obviously stronger than her passion for acting, so just be honest about it and spare us the stereotype looks in dramas that could have gone to better actresses.
Also, while the director is working on her “transformation” could he please feed her a hot meal? She always looks like she desperately needs one.

  6. She can’t act. But ever since she changed agencies she has fallen into the worst habits, immense watering, fans attacking etc. she fancies herself the top female in cent these days while attacking even high profile actors.

So with his fans unhappy chances are that we are going to have a major fight. I have popcorn lol

  7. For me, I personally love that kind of fairy-like, ethereal makeup. But it’s definitely a no-no for an actress who acts in shows that involve a lot of fighting and action scenes lmao. I just don’t see what the problem is with changing her makeup style. If she knows she’s beautiful, then she would be confident that she’ll still look beautiful even without her trademark makeup/styling. Even actresses who are known for their beauty (Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox, Deepika Padukone, Han So Hee, etc.) allowed themselves to get dirtied up for certain roles because I’m sure they know they’ll still look beautiful. Why can’t this actress do it? Lol she’s too vain, I guess

  8. Not bringing her make-up team to this drama might be the saving of her. I always thought she had talent – she really is not a bad actress, there are worse ones out there. She may not be great, however she is watchable, but her distracting make up drives viewers away. If she wants to grow as an actress, she might invest more into her character and less on pancaking her face. She had potential in the beginning, but afterwards, she stagnated and doesn’t seem to put in much effort in her acting anymore. So her more recent works are not good.

As for Joseph Zeng, he knew what he was getting into when he signed on for the drama. He’s played many cameo roles, and supporting roles as well. And this is what I love about him, he’s not picky about sticking to lead roles as long as he likes the script and can work with the actors – it leads to a type of versatility.

If Ju Jing Yi’s makeup team stays clear, maybe it will set a precedent and they will stay away for good. I will definitely check this out, if only to see her in alternative looks. Ha ha!
