Dilraba Dilmurat and Chen Fei Yu Start Filming Xianxia C-drama Love Beyond the Grave

There is a new C-drama that kicked off filming titled Love Beyond the Grave (Chinese title 慕胥辞 Mu Xu Ci) based on a C-novel. Starring Dilraba Dilmurat, Chen Fei Yi, and Wei Zhe Ming, the first pictures are out of the two leads in costume and this drama sure has a lot of black. Dilraba looks great as usual but Chen Fei Yu looks both bored and too young in his costume stills. Here’s hoping the performances onscreen will find him more engaged.

    • I loved him in ‘Ever Night’ but thought the entire drama ‘Legend of Awakening’ sucks. He can be hit or miss in costume dramas.

      • I have tried a few of his dramas before such as Ever Night and Gold Panning but his acting is a miss for me, his visuals is not to my taste either. For me, actors and actresses either have to be good at acting or have the visuals if their acting only at serviceable level.

I may give this drama a try if its trailers are good.

  2. Dilraba is sure beautiful but that’s it. Never warmed up to her acting and probably will never be.
Chen Fei Yu is the better actor here and he looks dapper in costume. (Zhang Ling He is another one that suits the genre very well)

    • Dilraba is a superstar. Her exotic beauty and work professionalism are well established in the industry.

In terms of acting, I find her alternating between two spectrum: the stubborn strong characters such as in The Long Ballad and mild cutesy or coquettish in her other roles. Not really a fan of these portrayals but as a person I think she is likable and I truly respect her as one of the A-list stars.

In the first place, I have accepted that excellence in acting is not the fundamental requirement to be a top celebrity. Like it or not, beauty, good reputation and good image play key roles as well. And for these values, Dilraba will remain as one of the brands and fan favorites.

As for this show, I like the gothic setting as I think it suits Dilraba’s exotic appearance. It would be good to see her play a darker character, departing from her usual roles.

I am not sure what to think of Chen Feiyu. He’s got talent but he does look a bit too youthful to assume an imposing general character. But I will suspend all beliefs as this is a xianxia series.

  3. I think Chen Feiyu looks great — though his styling here strongly resembles Moran in Immortality (which may never see the light).

I do like Dilraba in full goth like this, pretty different to her usual styling, I guess?

This said, as this looks like a xianxia, I’ll probably check the first few episodes when it comes out for Feiyu and see whether I will continue it.

  4. Koala’s page is a bit funny to me. Miss K herself seems to be impartial, and doesn’t seem to love nor hate Dilraba, while the majority of her commenters dislike DLRB to the bone, but are very tolerant towards actors and actresses who are no better than DLRB herself. Y’all claim that your favorite actors and actresses are better, but no, they’re not. But hey, keep those shady comments coming.

    • @ yuri, we all have our baised and they will mostly look good in our eyes compared to the others and I think that is what ur comments means. Unfortunately it like this in every Asia blog site, if it not DD , then is another actress getting dislikes upon and far worst. U just learn to tolerate and that we can’t all love the same actors and with our different opinions, some word sound negative, so defend the actors u like if u have to.

    • I think Dilireba’s reception here is a mixed bag. She’s been a big c-actress for long enough now that people have seen her at least once and developed strong opinions about her acting but also no one really dislikes her for her personality itself and she doesn’t get targeted for it unlike actresses like Yang Zi and Zhao Lusi.

      • I also noticed that the actresses that gets the most hate here is yang zi, zhao lusi, yang chaoyue and ju jingyi and I can say with full confidence that the first 2 have way better acting skills than the later 2 but I still don’t get the enormous on the 4 of them, someone will think they killed their family members or something from comments on them here

    • @yuri can’t win em all. Although Reba’s beauty is not my cup of tea but I can admit she is beautiful and charismatic. As for her acting, I’m with the ones who feel that is not her strong suit. But if you think so, then hey you do you

  5. At least Reba is absolutely gorgeous so her often mid at best acting can pass.

He is ugly and a bad actor and he always looks so disinterested. Plus they don’t go together visually, at all. Hard pass.

  6. The concern perhaps will be more on Reba’s side who may look more bored than engaging herself in the character. That’s the impression she delivered through her bland acting and one-dimensional interpretation of her characters in all her dramas. Not a fan of her visuals either.

But, I’ll check out this drama for Arthur Chen. He did a good job in Ever Night and impressed me a lot in Lighter & Princess.
