    • I feel like the writing for her character in that drama was terrible. A total wet blanket. There was something about it that kept me going for most of it. Then, it got way past the oversaturation point for FL tears.

I like Ren Min and want her to be in one of those female empowerment costume dramas.

I like both actors, but I also feel like they look too similar to each other. The trailer makes the story seem intriguing though.

      • Yeah, that wasn’t the best writing but there were a few other things wrong with The Longest Promise…

I actually really liked her acting when she played the female lead’s ancestor who was written as a mature and strong leader. I think she suits this kind of character. It would be nice if her role in this new drama was similar!

      • @prettyautumn

You are right. Both leads look similar in upcoming drama. Surprisingly the trailer looks interesting. Ren min is styled much better here. I think in Zhu Yan, they did a poor job, the forehead fringe made her face wider. In here, her face looks much more balanced now. I also prefer Ren min’s character over here, more articulated and steady.

Zhang wan yi appears to have the same wardrobe as his last drama but his character is different, an inferior / underdog type…

As for Love of Nirvana, although I didn’t like how the two make leads kept using the female lead character of Li LangDi, I still like the overall story plot and the three leads interactions.

      • I haven’t seem her in anything else but I also get the feeling it was not really her fault – bad writing, cheesy directing, awful voice acting. I only stuck to the end for Xiao Zhan, I am not going to lie!

    • I’m twitching from the ‘shiiifuuuu!’ but LOL at the same time. It should be part of any future contract that Ren Min cannot say that word. EVER. AGAIN.

  2. had never seen zhang wangyi before are you the one but now i’m a fan. he’s such a talented comedy actor, and from what i understand from those who’ve seen lost you forever, a good dramatic actor too. can’t wait for this to start airing.

  3. Cant wait. I have no probs with both actors. Will give it a shot.

Anyways, im currently watching Love In Nirvana. I totally enjoy it. People said it’s from a bad ending novel but idc. Im not a sucker for a happy ending. Not every story has a HE.

  4. I think ZWY is a good actor but he looks almost the same height as his leading ladies which makes his characters less intimidating. Haven’t finished Are you the one yet cos it’s just too slow for me and switched to Melody of Golden age which is more entertaining for me. It looks like they recycled his look from his last drama and they just changed the female lead when you look at the posters. I hope this one has better pacing. I prefer him in ordinary shy/sensitive guy roles than powerful character type roles.

    • With ZWY similar appearance, people will compare btwn his 2 dramas. Ren Min’s look definitely would be compared with Wang Chu Ran. For ZWY height, Thank god for his charismatic acting. Sometimes a good actor can be lack of certain charisma that could limit the characters they could play. DYX in Melody of Age has that problem for me. His acting is good. But he doesnt give this cold violent aura for a supposedly scary commander.

    • Yes, he’s on he shorter side buy actually I admire him (and Tan Jianci and a few others) for making it in this industry that increasingly fetishizes the Zhang Linghe types.

  5. I like the male lead, but it’s a pity that Ren Min is the female lead. I’ve tried watching all her previous dramas, but unfortunately, I just couldn’t connect with or feel convinced by her portrayals, so I ended up dropping them. Looks like I’ll have to skip this one too.

  6. Is ZWY the lead in I know I love You, the Chinese remake of One Spring Night? Is this an older drama compared to Are you the One? The latter weirded me out when the version I watched was dubbed in English. Anyway, I think I’m becoming a fan and I like him in the modern drama. Haven’t finished it yet, a bit of a slow burn. Hope to pick it up again. Happy to hear he’s getting more roles.
