Lee Jong Seok, Moon Ga Young, and Ryu Hye Young to Star in 2025 tvN Legal Drama Seocho District
So the casting is starting to broaden from the first reports a few months ago with Lee Jong Seok has picked his next drama. It’s titled Seocho District (Seochodong) and he plays a lawyer in what is described as a legal drama with depth and growth. Seochodong is home to the largest concentration of law firms in Seoul hence the title. Joining him as female lead is Moon Ga Young with Ryu Hye Young as the second female lead. He will be reuniting with his PD of W: The Worlds hence the extra excitement, and I’m quite impressed with that PD who also directed Kairos and Adamas.
Ryu Hye Young seems to be cast in a lot of legal dramas. I really enjoyed her performance in Law School and I can’t wait to see her performance in this. Pity that she’s a second lead, though. I really think she can carry a drama.
Agree. I have such a soft spot for the whole talented Law School cast. The drama did very well and I’m surprised it didn’t do more for the career of most of the student actors especially Ryu Hye-young and Lee Soo-kyung. Only Go Youn-jung really broke out from the cast.
Probably because go younjung character setting was most impactful among them. That drama was the first time I saw her and she really convinced me as someone abused by her boyfriend.
@yuhyi: That’s a fair point. I suppose Go Young Jung had the most challenging role of the actresses in the drama. It was the first role I saw her GYJ in too and I was pleasantly surprised. Before that I only heard about her being famous for her visuals so I was expecting her to be crap but I was actually impressed by her acting.
Yet another lawyer role for LJS. He really doesn’t want to deviate from the tried and tested I suppose…
I was thinking the same. Either that, or he’s typecast.
He has been a doctor, an editor, a journalist, a shooter, a prosecutor. He likes to work with the same peole, writer or PD. I guess it’s more a coincidence that he will be a lawyer like in Big Mouse.
Nope, being in a handful of dramas – say 10 and 30% of them being a specific profession – that’s a choice. Not a coincidence.
Or maybe she doesn’t have much choice with various roles. It’s not like every actress so lucky to have choice of diversity roles.
*Actor
And yep. Exactly as xoxo said, he’s likely typecasted.
Damn, I mistook LJS with RHY 🤦
This trio does not seem bad at all. All can act well. Hopefully script and directing is good as well.
Good to see Ryu Hye Young working again after Law School. She hasn’t starred in any dramas or films since 2021 except for a mini YouTube drama.
Also good to see Moon Ga Yung take a break from rom-coms. Hopefully she has a good character here and not just a milquetoast love interest type role.
Wow, it’s been so long since Lee Jong Seok’s been in a drama! Synopsis doesn’t sound interesting, but the PD catches my eye.
