Netflix K-drama Squid Game 2 Premieres to Mixed Reviews But Still Expected to do Gangbuster Viewership

The Games are back and just in time for the Christmas break and viewers to settle in for a marathon of 7-episodes. Netflix released Squid Games 2 on December 26th and so far the reviews from all publications international and domestic are mixed, with some happy with the return and see the second season as good while others find it doesn’t deliver what the original did. This has been a slow year for Netflix produced K-dramas so it’s nice to see an actual blockbuster arrival complete with major promotions for the whole month leading up to the release.

And yeah, the season 2 doesn’t seem to be anything spectacular

  • This season is too short and feels like Part 1 of a 2-part season rather than a whole season in itself. They stuffed it with so many characters and didn’t know what to do with most. But no one should be questioning how well it’ll do since the answer is very obvious. Shout out to GY who was goosebump inducing. When given the right script, he’s honest to god brilliant.

      • @Funn: Yes, there is a season 3. But it didn't feel like a season finale and season 2 lacked a resolution. I know a cliffhanger should leave you wanting, but the ending it there felt just random. Makes sense considering, the filmed season 2 and 3 together.

  • They need to stop to cut seasons in 2 different parts.

There were somme good parts like Gong Yoo or Park Sung-Hoon's story. But otherwise...

  • Why most of 2nd season didnt do as good as the 1st one? Despite the popularity of the s1, this season lacks something. But i cant figure it out. It's either too many A list on this show not just bcuz of the story/plot.

  • didn't really find season 1 that great to begin with. the story itself is like a combo of a lot of things that were already done by other japanese shows. but at least season 1 there was more heart to the story and the cinematography was cool to look at. season 2 has too many characters. also always found Gihun to be a weak main character. he survived most of the games based on dumb luck. he's not the brightest bulb to begin with. to think he'll be able to take down this entire group seems a bit farfetched to me even with the help of Junho. maybe it'll be another case of dumb luck.
