Period Romance C-drama Chasing Dreams with Zhang Jing Yi, Chen Zhe Yuan, and Liang Yong Qi Wraps Filming and Releases First Making of Video
Another C-drama production has wrapped filming recently and it’s period romance Chasing Dreams (Meng Hua Ting 梦花廷 and was earlier titled Flower in Novoland). Starring Chen Zhe Yuan, Zhang Jing Yi, and Liang Yong Qi, it’s the classic love triangle set up from what I see in the preview and one ripe for the second male lead to scene-steal/screen-chew thanks to his great acting. Zhang Jing Yi while not the most versatile of female leads for me, she honestly has one acting range but it works for her, has managed to deliver okay hits with Blossoms in Adversity and Lighter and Princess so she’s a great choice for a female lead for Chen Zhe Yuan who works nonstop in drama after drama but is still waiting for a true breakout for himself. I liked the making of video preview released this week and the drama looks old school but in that satisfying angst way.

The teaser looks good but I think CZY looks weird in costume dramas. I think he should stick to modern dramas.
He needs to get the same stylist as DYX had in LGEIF. That was some makeover from his last costume drama.

This drama looks so boring compared to the one with Chen Zhe Yuan and Li Qin, now that trailer have both leads looking so badass.
Not a small budget drama…. is Zhang Jing Yi getting popular these days?
Chen Zhe Yuan’s brand seem to be slowing down.
Interesting pairing. The preview looks interesting too. I like both ZJY and CZY. They both are decent actors. At least, their visuals in costume don’t turn me off LOL and their acting is solid. It’s puzzling for me to see how the 2nd ML will have scene stealing acting just from the preview LOL. LYQ did an impressive job in the Double. But I didn’t see that great acting continue into Perfect Match which unfortunately was also a trivially boring drama LOL.
I will check out this drama when it premieres.
Not feeling love triangles. I hope they keep the second male lead obsessed with the FL stuff to a minimum. But I like ZJY. She really gives a great quietly resolute and thoughtful aura.
