C-actress Zhao Lu Si Returns From Winter 2024 Healing Hiatus in Mango TV Variety Show Be Myself — 16 Comments

  1. This is a beautiful reality show which can be healing to watch. It’s on YouTube with eng subs.

It’s unsure if Lusy can act again any time soon as she said herself in this show that she can’t memorize scripts while on medication which she’s currently taking for anxiety/depression.

I hope she can get better and just be happy regardless of what she does for living.

  2. She needs to heal first no matter what these netizens say. So ridiculous but sadly koalas right if she is not careful that industry might pass her by which is sad in itself. Everyone needs a breather and should take care of themself.

  3. She’s such a charming girl. I never knew she had depression because she always had a smile on her face when I see her. I really hope the best for her and a fast recovery.

  4. well, she is not the top even before she get sick
Yu Shuxin have beat her with Love Game in Eastern Fantasy compare to Zhao Lusi The Story of Pearl Girl
Comnbine with her sickness, making Yu Shuxin top spot undeniable
    Hopefully she recover soon

    • Ysx’s latest drama Ski Into Love is kind of a big flop, right? It didn’t even hit 10k on the heat index and actually dropped hard to 8.6k and Yunhe only pulled 10.4 million views.

The Story of Pearl Girl* had: No IP, An original script, No promos, No CP frying, No variety show
      Still:
      – Before airing: 7,500
      – Day 1: 7,685
      – Reached 10k in just 43 hours
      – Peaked at 10,327 (within 11 days total)

Just FYI, Lusi’s #BeMyself variety show pulled a whopping 89 million views—and this wasn’t your typical variety show with flashy games or a bunch of celebs to carry the hype.

It was just Lusi and some villagers, no script, 100% spontaneous… and she still ate.

  5. Health is the most important thing. She didn’t even take that long a break: she should be allowed a few months without being fed back into the mincing machine.

  6. This will sound insensitive, but I don’t get it. Who thought of this show? She was hospitalized for conversion due to severe depression because she was overwhelmed by judgement and criticism online. So they put her on a show for people to judge and criticize her? No matter how genuine she is, there would be negative responses. And there are. She needs professional, confidential, objective mental health therapy and counseling to be stronger before facing judgment. Her mental health shouldn’t be put on display as entertainment.

      • People with untreated depression have poor insight. Her brain is so foggy that she can’t remember lines. Mango isn’t going to say no to being paid and profiting off her. The ones that love her shouldn’t have listened to her. Social media is proven to increase anxiety and depression. This is like having a loaded gun at home.

  7. Good for her! Hope she heals well, and then chooses a worthy script to return to. Hope they cast a stellar dude actor too.

  8. Hope she makes a full recovery! I’m not sure if she’s interested in being top flower of the 1995 drama beauties after what she had been through, but the cdrama industry is also so fast-paced, I’m guessing she would need a public presence to ensure her marketability after she recovers. This variety show seems like it could be a good compromise of staying in the public eye and taking time to heal (and prove to investors/producers that she is well enough to invest in).

  9. Im interested in watching this show yet when I see comments about how she complain about her ‘rich life’ hardships to those poor mountain kids on weibo I kinda lost interested for it…

    • Even people with ‘rich lives’ can suffer from depression. In fact, they may actually be more prone to it than poorer people because of how dissociated they are from the simple pleasures of life. Never knock off people life experiences just because you view them from the lens of ‘they have money, so they possibly don’t really know what it is to suffer’ as if wealth is a barrier to problems and a precursor to happiness. If that were the case why are some of the happiest people in the world from poorer nations and why is suicide prevalent amongst some of the wealthier nations of the world?

      • I agree with you on that, rich people have their own suffering. Money doens’t make it less painful, or we wouldn’t have so many celebrities depressed and even killing themselves. A lot of weibo comments feel so cruel. I just wish her team would give her a proper break away from cameras. It feels like they are scared of her being forgotten.

    • Alot of people are saying the show is very tone-deaf. She made some controversial comments on it that had lots of people complaining and Mango tv actually had to re-edit and cut out those parts. I’m honestly not sure if she just has a really weak team but they just seem to make alot of weird choices. She really should be resting if she is sick…
