K-drama Remake of J-dorama Doctor X with Kim Ji Won Adds Additional Cast Members Lee Jung Eun and Kim Woo Seok
So I thought this drama would be in production by now considering it was announced awhile ago with the casting of Kim Ji Won as the lead, but it’s not yet started and even adding additional cast members seems slower than usual. This week actor Kim Woo Seok was announced and joins veteran Lee Jung Eun in the drama Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia, a remake of an older Japanese dorama Doctor-X: Surgeon Michiko Daimon which came out in 2012. The K-version comes from the PD of Revenant and VIP so a very skilled director, and hopefully it delivers interesting medical cases with a twist of justice. I really like Kim Ji Won and hope this drama gives her a great solo project to anchor the continued development of her career.

My all time favourite…I watched all the seasons except movie as I cannot find it online ðŸ˜. Simple and straight-forward stories. The casts is what makes this popular rather then the stories for me. All their chemistries are dynamic, everyone has a role and place in the drama and no one is extras. I really find this drama relaxing. To be honest, I am not going to put high expectations on Korean version. Lets wait and see.
No one cares to comment on this article. Everyone is super busy passionately fighting over in C-drama land. LOL. One of the reasons why I’ve shifted my focus away from C-ent. K-ent is reinventing itself and evolving. C-ent seems stuck in bad storytelling, bad casting, bad acting, inferior productions. It’s all traffic, capital, overhype, and watered data these days with endless fandom fights. Even some of my favorite novels are being ruined with disastrous adaptations.
Anyway, back to Kim Ji Won. She’s a decent actress and hopefully this new production works out for her. It a shame her last outing became totally overshadowed by KSH’s scandal.
Can’t disagree.
The protagonist is a charismatic figure who follows her own rules. She’s carefree, empathetic, and confident. Kim Ji Won definitely has the range to embody her brash personality.
What I personally would like for the remake is for it to stick to what’s medically accurate (and for the characters’ relationships to be more strongly developed (so they don’t end up becoming caricatures as they almost did in the original production).
It was only a matter of time before you started pretending to be me again. You do it every time I don’t praise your faves yet you have the audacity to accuse me of using multiple nicknames here. LOL. My avatar has only been displayed in green and so it will continue. You have a good memory for remembering the actors I like to watch though. Kudos I guess. LOL.
She’s been part of some high profile dramas over the years but surprising this is the first time that Kim Ji Won is gonna carry a drama on her own and without other A-list names attached as co-stars or part of the production staff.
