Looks like we have a bona fide hit in the making with newly premiered SBS medical drama Doctor X: Mafia in White. Starring Kim Ji Won as the titular crazy talented surgeon with supporting leads Lee Jung Eun, Son Hyun Joo, and Kim Woo Seok, the drama premiered this weekend with 11.4% double digit ratings and the second episode went … Continue reading →
Two million admissions and $15M USD in box office within 6 days is quite the feat in the Korean box office and even more so with the prolonged slump this year. The movie is My Daughter is a Zombie with Jo Jung Seok and Jo Yeo Jung as the leads and young teen actress Choi Yoo Ri as the titular … Continue reading →
So I thought this drama would be in production by now considering it was announced awhile ago with the casting of Kim Ji Won as the lead, but it’s not yet started and even adding additional cast members seems slower than usual. This week actor Kim Woo Seok was announced and joins veteran Lee Jung Eun in the drama Doctor … Continue reading →
Oh what a lovely quartet main cast! Netflix K-drama Morning Comes to the Mental Ward kicked off filming this week in what will likely be a 2023 release. It’s adapted from novels written by a real life nurse at a psychiatric ward and is described as warm and touching. Park Bo Young will take on the role of the nurse … Continue reading →
The Netflix experiment has not done a straight up legal drama until now and it’s getting great reviews if not as much buzz as some other recent Netflix offerings like All of Us are Dead, Hellbound, and Squid Game. This weekend saw the drop of 10-episode legal drama Juvenile Justice on Netflix, starring a veritable four-some of heavy hitting critically … Continue reading →
I feel like K-actress Shin Mina just went from one beach to another, but I don’t think her second beach sojourn she’ll be sporting that many Hermes bags lol. The teaser is out for tvN ensemble drama Our Blues which boasts an incredibly stacked deck of big name stars. The collection was made possible by the star power of screenwriter … Continue reading →
While Netflix is understandably getting all the buzz recently in the K-drama sphere, there remains plenty of quality talent and projects proliferating elsewhere and in 2022 none is more star-studded than the Noh Hee Kyung penned K-drama Our Blues. Looks like Here is out and Our Blues is in. Award winning screenwriter Noh Hee Kyung was prepping a new drama announced last year called Here based on people working overseas in NGOs but the production and filming continued to get pushed back due to travel restrictions during the pandemic. Vincenzo got around that by making the Italy scenes very … Continue reading →
Ratings in the 4-5% for jTBC cable drama isn’t bad at all but for the fact that the drama cost like multiples what the network spends compared to its usual fare so then that type of reception is less than expected. I’m talking about Sisyphus: The Myth, which after I stopped writing about it but continued to watch has unfortunately … Continue reading →
The KOFIC assembled Korean Actors 200 list (consisting of both actors and actresses) is already fodder for discussion with fans wondering why their faves may or may not have been included. This is definitely a movie (Chungmuro) driven list so straight up drama stars will likely not make it and many of the included may not be household names but … Continue reading →
The 2020 KBS Drama Awards was a free for all as well, and a mix of face masks, social distancing, and still walking the red carpet. The bulk of the awards went to the various cast members of weekend drama Once Again and daily drama Homemade Love Story, as both were the sole shining ratings lights for the network. Daddy … Continue reading →
